This place is amazing! The hot bar and the sushi/poke bowl selection is just *chef’s kiss*. On top of the amazing ready made food; I also come here for their consistently delectable creme brûlée. The owners are so friendly, and they’ve always made me feel welcome since I touched down in Brooklyn. My only critique is that the grocery items are very expensive. So I tend to combine my shopping here with independent produce vendors and bargain stores like Food Town (this balances the weekly grocery bill to a balanced amount while still enjoying the luxury food that Fresh Start provides). It’s well worth every penny despite the expensive prices. Plus after 6:30pm the sushi and the hot bar are both half off!

I love that place, it’s been almost 2 years in nyc and I feel like my mom cooked all of these yummy foods,Always fresh and hot, my favorite ones is turkey, salmon and chicken wings.The place is well organized and so clean.I’m so happy that they have a lot of olive oil from different countries and those are the best quality.And muffins are so delicious too

One of the BEST super markets in Brooklyn!!! I love the staff, who are very friendly and knowledgeable. The pastries are amazing and the coffee is phenomenal too. It’s a great supermarket to do your shopping at!

I wish I could recommend Fresh Start more heartily but it suffers from a variable staff experience: Some cashiers are friendly and polite, others exceptionally rude and surly. That said, it packs a lot into a modest-sized store, with particularly strong selections of pre-made meals, cheeses, baked goods and produce (pictured). In short, convenience and selection account for a lot and you take the good with the bad.

Think Packed Salmon was expired. When opened it start smell. Be aware when buying packed salmon

I will be gentle with my comments because my dear friend works there. They have fantastic display of foods (hot/cold), and food items. I love the pastries, the prices are quite reasonable compared to other stores in downtown Brooklyn as well as along Flatbush areas, etc. The prices are a bit over the top, but if you want unusual and spectacular this is the place to shop.

All through the pandemic, this store remained open, with extremely accessible hours. Over the Intercom - they played music that most seniors would recognize, and hopefully others will enjoy also. Their employees are hard working, kind and attentive; there is a discount on Sunday for students and seniors. Good selection of food items that sometimes you do not see elsewhere. Thanks for what you've done and are doing in this difficult time, Fresh Start.

I ask for two things at the deli counter I as very plainly and distinctly for Hebrew American salami I'm told yes they have it I ask for a pound of salami great. THEN I ASK FOR Monterrey Jack cheese I distinctly said not pepper Jack cheese. The girl must not have heard me and slices me a half a pound of pepperjack cheesewhich I refuse to take. I'm then told they do not have Monterrey Jack cheese anymore. The bad part if this whole transaction is that I was given baloney and not salami.. Very disheartening not to be overdramatic but I don't want to go down the block anymore.
