Love this place! Super knowledgeable and friendly staff. Miss the warmth of the previous location but still a top tier wine shop in the area!

there is something very wrong with these guys.
Walked in to get two bottles of Prosecco. when I asked for cold bottles the person serving me asked how far I was going and in how much time I would drink it, and said if I was not drinking it immediately then he would only give me warm bottles…
They do not let you view the wine selection in the fridge and god forgive you may want to check a review for a wine you are about to buy on your cell phone they do not allow you to use your phone…
There are so many other liquor stores with kind service in the area worth your $ no reason to subject yourself to these guys treatment.

I came in to buy some rum. The store owner said the one I wanted wasn't on the shelf. If I promised to buy it, he would run downstairs to grab it for me. I said ok. Then I said something to the effect of "even if I didn't buy it, it would be ok because it should be on the shelf anyway". I didn't mean to be condescending. It's common sense because eventually someone is going to want to buy that rum, in which case it will need to be brought up from downstairs or wherever it is stored. However, I was ready to purchase it as the owner requested. Then he said "we're done here" and walks away.

Nice small liquor store. The staff was friendly and helpful. Not too big of a selection but we were able to sample the spirit we purchased.

I am not a regular customer, but just to highlight the fact I got double charged by mistake. When I realized it one month after, they swiftly refunded the 2nd payment. 5 stars for the ethics.

This place is miserable. There are so many rules. You feel like an inconvenience when you walk in the door. If you accidentally open the freezer door to look at the chilled roses or whites they snap at you to CLOSE THE DOOR and SHOP THE WINES ON THE WALL. If your friend calls you while you're browsing to tell you what kind of wine they want you to pick up they snap at you to GET OFF YOUR PHONE because NO ONE may talk on their cell phone. Shopping at this place feels like walking on egg shells around your meanest and most irrational middle school principal.

Phenomenal wine shop. Everyone that works there is very friendly and helpful. Great selection of wines and spirits. Selection is very unique and staff is knowledgeable about everything in the store. My favorite neighborhood gem. I go too often!!!

Not a huge selection, but this place is about quality over quantity. They have various bottles for those that enjoy wine. Bottles have various price points but the less expensive bottles are still high quality. Left with an Oregon Chardonnay, Rioja tempranillo crianza, and a ribero del Duero tempranillo reserva. I wasn't in the market for some of their other offerings but I know where to find some bottles I cannot find elsewhere that I used to be able to find in the neighborhood.

I am very late on leaving this review. I went in around Christmas 2022 looking for the Lagavulin 11 year old Offerman Edition: Guinness Cask Finish. This had been difficult for me to find. I was (still am) relatively new to scotch whisky but I had tried Lagavulin previously and found it enjoyable. The sales person said they were confident they had what I was looking for in stock (in the back), but when they realized that it wasn’t in stock they were apologetic and offered to suggest an alternative to try since I’m new to scotch whisky. We had a brief but pleasant conversation about what they had in stock from Islay and I left with an Ardbeg 10 Year Single Malt Scotch. Based on our interaction, the recommendation, and the price point, I intend to return when I’m ready to try something new.

Ordered a rare bottle that they posted online. Received email confirmation when it was ready and picked it up. Staff was very pleasant and tried to assist all customers in the shop without stepping on anyone's toes. Highly recommend.

Always a joy to come here, grab a bottle and learn more about what they have to offer. The store & its staff are key to the Atlantic Ave/Boerum Hill community. Oh, and they are amazing dog folks, too.

There’s a sales dude who maybe the owner/manager who wins the category “most toxic male on Atlantic Avenue”. He looks like Vincent Schiavelli from “Ghost” so it’s easy to spot him. He asked what I was looking for and price range. After five minutes he started yelling at me every time I would touch a wine bottle that wasn’t the bottle right in front “it’s the same bottle, man!!”. My thinking was “while i look at the bottle other people may want to look at the same bottle so why hold the display bottle if I can grab one from the back”? I was trying to help his business which by the look of it is not going so well. If you want a store with great customer service don’t think twice, skip this one and head to Wright & Goebel five minutes away - there, you are welcomed by lovely women who are there to help you and guide you through a great wine selection. Let’s have a 2023 with no toxic male culture. As Mr. Subway Ghost edited his witty comeback to my review, I feel obliged to continue this little online Christmas story. He even gave me the honor and featured my husband and me in his little blog. Well, how to continue? I could reply and say he made me nervous the moment I walked in the store because just think up: it's the day before Christmas eve, you love shopping, and you stroll inside a wine store to buy your father a Christmas gift - which the Ghost mistook for “father in law” so I guess I wasn’t the only one not paying attention - and you are “unwelcomed” by some dude who looks like the actor who played not only the Angry Subway Ghost in “Ghost” but also Bruce Frederickson in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” bombarding you with questions such as “what's your price range?” but that could only be summed up by: “why you simple mortal entered my Wine and Whiskey Cathedral?” and immediately you get so nervous that you start pulling wine bottles from the back pile for which I apologized both times (or maybe 3, I don't remember as the Ghost perfectly pointed out attention spam (sp?) is not my forte). Which store owner prides himself on making his customers nervous? Does this person understand how a customer-centric business works? I could say all that, but I'll choose to focus on the fact that he said my husband and I were well dressed. This person is obviously hanging out with the wrong crowd of Bernie-dudes to consider two guys wearing Canada Goose jackets, the silliest jackets ever, well-dressed. The only reason we model them is that they are warm and practical for cold winter days. Anyway, “dude,” I get it; you pride yourself on being a little Boerum Hill urban legend, a guy in his late 50s who clearly knows a lot about wine and whisky who enjoys coming across as cranky as it gives you some street cred among your little group of admirers. “OH, look at good old Jack; which customer is he rambling about today?”And also: I'm not a customer that the “holidays bring.” I have lots of free time and live two blocks from your store and always wanted to come in, but I only drink gin, so as my father is in town, it was time to try your business. But unfortunately, this is the end of what could have been a beautiful friendship.I wish Free Range a better 2023. Wine shopping should be fun!

Not your typical wine shop, it's a cute shop with great options and personalized service. Really appreciated Jack's knowledge and suggestions on wine.
