Ted filed my taxes for me for 7 years. I always looked forward to seeing him. In some ways I felt like I was going to see my dad. I felt like he looked out for my interests and he always talked with me about my son. He seemed very proud of his daughter and was always smiling when he talked about her. When I saw him to file in 21, I noticed he didn't look well and I feel so sad about it now that I discovered his passing. I wish I had urged him to see a doctor. He was not his usual self. My condolences to his family. I'll really miss him.

Unless you like spending a lot of time double checking everything, chasing your accountant down about missed quarterly tax payments & incorrectly filed paperwork then overpaying for the privilege, go elsewhere.

Enigma overall was a great experience. Ted is very knowledgable, kind and answered all my questions and concerns. I've used his Tax services for two years now and have not had any issues or causes for concern. The proper forms are filed quickly and I happily got my tax returns. I will continue to use his services.

Went silent on us and neglected to accurately file our taxes properly - now have an issue that has actually been sent to tax court. Won't return calls, now have had to hand over this mess to a new accountant. Calling the BBB as well.

I have been using Ted for a long time and have never had any issues. He knows his stuff. I have also recommended my friends and they are happy with him also.

I guess I should have expected this judging by the name of the service. The definition of enigma is "a person or thing that is mysterious, puzzling, or difficult to understand." Yup, it's puzzling why they don't return your phonecalls or emails, why they don't let you know they're going on a month long vacation or why they don't finish the job they started. Let me backtrack a little bit. I filed my taxes with Enigma in 2016 for the year 2015. A year later I try to file my taxes again but they're getting rejected. The reason was that apparently my previous taxes (filed with Enigma) were never received. Great. So I emailed them about it explaining the situation. A few days later no response, so I call them. Ted answered (first and last time) and explained that he got the email and something was blocked and he'll fix it. He tells me to call him back the next day if he doesn't call me. So I did, many times over the next week or two. I emailed him too but he has never responded to a single email (must be some secret business strategy to get you more clients that I just don't understand..... It's an enigma). I decided to speak to him in person to see what's up. I arrived to a note taped to his monitor saying he's on vacation for a month. Well thanks Ted! Ever heard of a voicemail message or out of office auto reply? It would take 5 minutes to set up both. I waited until he came back from vacation and kept calling and emailing with no response. In the meantime I tried resolving the problem myself but was unable to. I've changed addresses and some identity confirmation mail had to be sent to my old address where I obviously no longer lived. Thanks IRS. A few months ago I left a one star review here without any comments. I see a month later what appears to be a relative/spouse (same last name) left a 5 star review with no comment. Hmmm. In the end I don't think I was asking for much. I just wanted some help clearing up an error that was preventing me from filing my taxes. At this point my 2015 and 2016 taxes still haven't been filed. Honesty if Ted answered the phone or miraculously called me himself and told me he just didn't want to help me I would respect him a whole lot more than I do now. Then I could look for a real accountant and pay him to finish the job Ted wouldn't. I have to give them one thing though. They know how to pick a suitable name. Too bad they don't include the definition with it. Might save people some headaches.
