Horrible 2022 tax season experience, me and my wife are still waiting on our return and we have called several times left voicemails and it seems like no one cares... 2023 going to someone else, wish I can leave zero stars

I hired Joe for a few year. Their behavior at my last visit was unprofessional and disgusting. I had wanted to file my returns in a certain way. So earlier in the year they asked me to pay $150 and ask me to visit their office, which I did while losing my work pay. When I did remind them about what needed to be done for filing taxes. They did it and demanded more money. His son was very loud and he said either I pay $300+ more or pay the regular fee and not com back again. I took the latter. Later, Joe's wife came running at me while shouting that her employee lost money because I chose not to return. their highly decorated (read tattooed) manager was busy throwing kisses on Airtime when I had approached her to remind me about my earlier visit to get the clarification about filing tax documents in specific manner. Very hostile environment and terrible professional attitude as if they are the only accountants in town.

I have been going here since 1998. Great family, great service, but a bit slow if you don't time it right and hit a crowd. Plan to spend three hours. Grab some lunch at the local shawarma shop, bring some tunes or a book, and you'll be fine.

I've filed my taxes through Colacino for years and while the experience has never been great, this year it reached an all time low. Last year, they made a very significant error (not accounting for the estimated taxes I'd paid throughout the year) and they'd made a different error the year before that so it was reasonable of me to want to see what they'd done on my taxes to make sure everything was accurate but they don't have a process that allows for this. More problematic was that it was challenging to get information about what specifically I needed to do to submit my tax payment which, since it was very large, I needed to know the specifics of so that I could make sales from my mutual fund into cash to be transferred into my checking account. I emailed and called multiple times to get the information I needed to pay without receiving it, leading me to write a frantic email ON THE TAX DEADLINE DAY WHEN I STILL HADN'T RECEIVED IT expressing my dissatisfaction and the pressing need to receive the information ASAP. I DID receive a quick response to this email for the first time but, bizarrely, it was from Rich Colacino himself making snide remarks about having gotten my paperwork in late (I had submitted everything over three weeks previously--not a ton of time but they hadn't said it was too late or anything) and then continuing to make other cutting comments--ON TAX DAY when you'd think his time could be better spent. Their delay in providing the information I needed caused a lot of stress and extra time and was completely avoidable but when I tried to share a suggestion for how the process could be improved and clarified for me and other clients, Rich C's response was completely dismissive and derisive for no good reason. I've heard good things about Rich's father Joe in the past and hope the tax filing experience is better with him but given a pattern of errors and rude behavior, I would not recommend this outfit.

BEWARE!!! ABSOLUTE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE!! I would give 0 stars if possible. Colacino Partners had prepared my taxes for 7 years. However, this 2021 tax preparation was TERRIBLE! Once they received my money, they treat me like garbage. I had questions regarding my tax preparation regarding incorrect information. I called multiple times and was told by the receptionist that someone would give me a call back. After not receiving a return call in a timely manner, I had to call multiple times in order to finally speak with someone live. I was connected to Daniel who was rude, over spoke me, and was unable to answer my questions. When I requested to speak with someone who could answer my questions/concerns with mistakes in my tax preparation, Rich Colacino came to the phone hostile and told me he was wasting his time during the height of tax season answering my questions. I expressed that I could not believe he spoke to a customer in this manner and I had paid them for a service that I was not receiving. Rich continued to raise his voice, tell me that he did not care if I took to social media or any other channel to let people know of the horrible service I received. Rich disrespectfully stated, "If you want good service, get your taxes in early next time. And I am marking on your file instructions for my company to no longer prepare your taxes." Rich then proceeded to hang up the phone on me. My questions/concerns went unanswered and I will now have to pay someone else to ensure my taxes are filed correctly. I am in disbelief that this is how the company is represented by someone who bears its name, Rich Colacino. The deadlines and stress of tax season should not fall on the customer (especially when they had weeks to prepare my return) as this is the company's profession and should have informed me if they were too overloaded to properly prepare my taxes! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!! I hope this review helps prevent someone from ever having the same experience.

Joe is the man. Saved me a ton on my taxes. Worth every penny! This place is old school, family run. Which I enjoy. They have heart and will help you with compassion. That said, they may not be as “slick” as some of the big corporate practices. But I don’t care about slickness.

I never write reviews but I had a terrible experience this year. I have been a client for many years and family is even old friends. I was always charged the same rate. My taxes are super simple so not a lot of work. Plus all done over emails and not in person. It wasn't the price increase that made me upset, although they did charge me A LOT in comparison to other companies. When I asked why there was an increase the response I got back was and I quote "are we doing this price dance now" Plus they refused to honor the price I was always used to paying and charged me more. Such an unprofessional and unpleasant response especially during Covid. And you increase your prices now? I will never use or refer this company to anyone ever again. I am all for supporting local but not when they are rude and on top of everything respond back with nasty emails.

I think these guys are absolutely awesome and they have helped me so much Over the years. They are excellent at what they do and saved me money. They are always so patient with me and gave me wonderful advice. So very happy with Joe and Rich.
