Disappointing and Discriminatory Experience at Citi Bank Branch 1/5 Stars
I visited the Citi Bank branch located at [5324 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11220] on November 8, 2024 and unfortunately had an extremely poor and discriminatory experience there. The service was abysmal and the staff seemed to prioritize serving only Chinese customers.
Upon arrival, I noticed a Hispanic man waiting to be helped. Despite the fact that he had clearly been waiting longer, the bank representatives continually skipped over him for Chinese patrons. When I was finally able to approach a representative, the man assisting me was curt and dismissive from the start of our interaction.
When I explained that I was interested in opening an international bank account, the representative flat out lied to my face, claiming that Citi Bank did not offer such a service. I had done my research prior to visiting and knew full well that they do in fact have international account products like Citi Priority and Citi Gold. Rather than argue with this incompetent individual, I decided to cut my losses and leave.
The clear discrimination, prioritization of certain ethnic groups over others, and utter dishonesty of the staff today was appalling. A financial institution of Citi's size and prestige should know better. As a result, I will be making an appointment at a different Citibank branch in hopes of a better experience. If this branch cannot cater to my banking needs in a professional manner, I will not hesitate to take my business elsewhere, potentially to Morgan Stanley Bank.
As a potential Citi customer, this branch's conduct has entirely disenchanted me with the bank as a whole. For such a well-established corporation to tolerate this kind of discriminatory behavior is simply unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to avoid this Citi branch at all costs and take their banking needs elsewhere. Do Not Recommend.!

The attitude of this branch is terrible. There is a Chinese woman with a big belly. Her attitude and eyes are as if the customer is her enemy.

I have a Citi Bank credit card. I tried to change the due date to match all my other credit cards. They refused my request however, all other banks have accepted my request. Also, I made my payment early. They posted that I had a late payment on Experian. I tried to solve it with the bank. Because I never missed a payment in my life. But they have the worst customer service ever.

Terrible, weeks ago I went to get an account and it's the time I didn't receive the card, I also called by phone and no one answers, they always say that everyone is busy, terrible, terrible. I will close that account and withdraw the cash with which I opened it.

I come this branch 4:05 pm for wire transfer. Lily chen and jing bao both are told me come tomorrow. They have almost one hour time but they don’t my wire transfer.

Absolutely horrible, discriminative experience at this branch location.I’m a caseworker for a local state agency, I’m assisting my client in opening a checking account here, the bank clerk was very hesitant to allow my client to open an account with Citibank. Due to my client’s inability to communicate quickly, my client has impaired speech and delayed response time. The clerk held on to my client’s ID, prompting my client to become concerned about why her ID was being taking away, as the clerk informed management that my client was trying to open an account. Though my client might have a slower Response time, than say someone else walking in off the street, she is still competent, moving through this life at her own pace and entitled to the same banking liberties as any other American citizen. The manager even went as far as to say in front of my client, that he didn’t want to allow my client to open an account here at this location if she’d have trouble figuring out how to handle her account in the future without assistance. The absolute saddest part is my client understands everything in real time, only her speech is slow.

I went to this bank to open business accounts and the retail banker Jett Li. Tell me ok ur account ready a d u should receive ur debt card in the mail in days. So after 2 week still not received my card I call him again and he said he will exbdide the card. a d past 4 days and still not received it. So I call the customer service and I found out that retailMR JETT LI. NEVER REQUESTED MY CARD. I don't suggest any one to deal with this retail bankerHe didn't know his job,,,,,

If you ever need any help with your accounts I would highly recommend/suggest you asking for Jaime Wong. He went over & beyond helping my son with an issue he had with his account. He could've just let it be what it was but no, he went out of his way to correct the problem & also provided some suggestions ! I couldn't have been more impressed how he wouldn't give up until he found a solution & that he absolutely did !! Want to talk about service with a smile !! Thank you Jaime, we truly appreciate your help !!
