One of the workers there gave me and my friend an amazing experience at the Brooklyn Pet Shop. My friend was looking to buy a pet rat and he allowed us to feed them and pet the rat. He let us hold a Bearded Dragon as well as showed us how to and what to feed it. I went back to buy food for my cats and I definitely recommend going here.

One of the workers was very nice as he had offered me and my friend to pet and hold some of the animals. Also there are a lot of different kinds of animals as well as very nice supplies for the animals.

Great neighborhood pet shop. For such a small space, it carries a surprisingly large variety of pet foods and various supplies. Staff is consistently attentive and helpful. ?

So I want to preface that this review is in no way an attack on those who work at the store. They were misinformed and genuinely upset about the situation. I purchased a Cockatiel, and the Bird was around 500+ dollars. Now you would expect a bird in that price range to be very young, and the employees there were told that the Bird was young. Sadly after two months, the Bird was acting very strange, and I had to rush it to the emergency room vet clinic, and the shocking news I found was the Bird was born in 1993, THATS 29 YEARS OLD! I was, of course, dumbfounded by this discovery. The vet discovered many issues with the Bird, failing organs, chronic breathing infection, and many other problems. Sadly, the Bird was on its way out, so we had to euthanize him. I wanted a refund because you don't sell a dying bird for 500+ dollars. The employees at the time were very nice and genuinely understood my situation and wanted to help, but the manager was the main issue in all of this. Not only did he not want to provide a refund, but he also began shifting the blame to the people who gave them the Bird and said that because it's been two months, I wouldn't be given a refund. I was utterly dumbfounded. How does a manager of a PET STORE not know where their PETS are coming from?? I left upset, and now not only did I lose 500 dollars, but I have an empty 400-dollar cage and a broken family who grew attached to this bird.

This place is amazing! The staff are obviously very experienced and educated, and they are so helpful. They have helped me with my young ball python so many times, they never fail to do so. Always come here for anything I need pet related.

Very friendly and helpful people. Helped me build a home for my Betta fish. Quite a lot of items here are cheaper than Petco. Definitely coming back.

I have always considered this former Petland, as the best pet store in the neighborhood, as far as selection of dry goods, for dogs and cats, but what is unique and impressive is their selection of small mammal supplies, and reptile/amphibian food and supplies. Most pet stores throughout the city are 99% cat and dog centric, so as a reptile enthusiast, I'm very happy that they have the selection that they do in Bay Ridge. If they weren't there I'd have to drive to petco or petsmart almost every day!!

I like this place..Sure there are bigger pet stores but not in the neighborhood and they pretty much have what you're looking for.. Staff is great and knowledgeable.
