Horrible for selling things. I arrived before they opened thinking that I could avoid the long wait time that way, but nope! I still ended up waiting over 2 hrs because all of the staff was processing items that were dropped off from the night before. It would make more sense to at least have one or two people dedicated to the long line waiting for them to open. As I waited, I saw 3 different people working on my sale even though i did not bring an great deal of items. They did buy quite a few of my items, but the prices were lower than anticipated. I ended up heading to the union square location and waited less than 20 minutes. I was able to sell them a lot of the items that Greenpoint would not buy (even the person who did the sale was baffled by how much they passed up on), and even get more money for 2 items I decided against selling at Greenpoint since their prices were too low in my opinion. I thought they would be able to take much more because they're a bigger store, now I can only wonder how much more I would've made if I went straight to union square first. I guess you live & you learn .

I love a lot of things about this store and have found incredible pieces, but I've also come across counterfit items. I won't buy anything contemporary from Beacon's unless there is still a care tag attached and it clearly matches the primary tag. A few months ago there were a TON of Boyish jeans that were obviously fakes based on the care tags and slight font/style differences in the rivets and leather patch. I also found a purple GANNI dress yesterday that's a fake but priced as if real. All that said, I'll continue to shop here, but you have to be thorough.

Rude staff! My 8 year old daughter pushed a mirror and the two employees were very rude at the checkout, threw my bag of clothes at me. Probably because I said in French to my daughter “monsieur est fâché” even though the person was non-gendered. Shameful attitude

Horrible. Employee followed me around the store assuming I was going to steal something. Do better thanks!

I brought in designer XL and XXL clothing only for them to be passed up. However my zara and uniqlo mediums were selected. This place is fatphobic. Must browse the clothes here and you’ll see what I mean.

Sellers beware! They will not accept most of what you bring. Today I wasted $50 on Uber and 2 hours of my time, only to find out that they accepted ONE item out of fifty items. I was told that they were just looking for “spring” clothes - below is just a small amount of SPRING items that were NOT accepted, most of them barely or never worn: nearly new puma sneakers , pink Zara blouse, a nice new suit, light jeans… etc.Again, I brought in 50 items and they only accepted ONE pair of shoes - shoes I originally paid $40 and only got $4.50 for in cash. Will never attempt to sell here again and advise others to do the same .

Don't waste your time here— the employees are trash (and the buyers have terrible taste here) who close 15-20 mins early and kick you out if you dare not get to the register by then because they don't wanna do their work because, and I quote, "it's been a long day and I don't wanna do extra work." We're human beings on planet Earth in New York City— we all work hard and long and get the jobs done. We're all working hard all day, many of us much harder than these people who put clothes on racks all day, and in this customer service industry, we have what's called courtesy, honor, and respect and close when the organization's listed hours say it's closed.I came in 20 mins before closing, just expecting to browse for a few minutes to see if they've updated their collection, like anyone would anywhere else, and was almost immediately pushed out the door and spoken to very rudely by multiple employees who wanted to avoid their duties and go home. I asked them to hold on to my own coat for a moment while I browsed and when they made me leave around 7:45, they didn't even give it back to me. I'll have to come in again tomorrow to find it and then file a massive complaint with the management or even the corporation departments if they've "lost" it.To Beacons Management: Change your listed hours, investigate the bad attitudes of your employees and the practice of trying to close early because they're lazy, terminate those who don't meet the industry and/or organizational standards of service, train new employees to meet these standards of service, and respect for the customers who are the ones who pay for all of their paychecks.I recommend the 13th St. location in Manhattan, which is fantastic with service oriented employees and great buyer fashion sense where you'll actually find great clothes with style and even better prices.Unfortunately, Greenpoint is certainly going downhill and has been for a long time since all the wealthy, the trust fund "artist" kids, the rich transplants, and the tech bros have been gentrifying the hell out of it. They come with their privilege and their arrogance and they're the kind of human who look away from the poor and anyone else they happen to deem below them in status. This used to be a factory, warehouse, and dump yard neighbourhood that dumped trash and waste (much of it toxic that is still here, just covered over with concrete and pavement) and was then full of the true, poor, real artists and working class people— the people who made NYC the great city it was. I know because I'm a scientist and an artist who's been remediating the waste and toxins and working with urban farms and food/grocery volunteer groups for the poor in the neighbourhood and making it cleaner and greener for *everybody* to enjoy. Not just the high rise mega-buildings full of the rich who are ruining this once great neighbourhood that belonged to the actual, real, down-to-earth, true New Yorkers and who treat people like scum as is the case here at Greenpoint's Beacon Closet.I've been coming here for 10 years now since I arrived in the city when I was 18 years old. I weep for the horror it has become and enraged at the arrogance and rudeness of everyone who is now here.Disgusting. Trashy people. Rude. Poor fashion sense. Inflating prices to entice the rich here who also don't have any fashion sense (the majority being Nouveau Riche with that trademark gaudy, overpriced taste in everything). Don't go here.

Buyer beware: If you drop off your clothes, there will be a major discrepancy between their proposed “selling price” (you get 30% cash value) vs. what they will actually sell it for on the floor. If you also bring in multiple items, they don’t itemize them so you don’t know what each item was priced at. :/

It makes me so sad to say this, but I am consistently disappointed by this place. It looks so promising at a glance… But for such a humongous thrift store, you’d think there would be more size inclusivity. The dresses and skirts are mostly really, really small. I also have seen the same exact dresses and skirts sitting on the racks all year, which means like… who’s buying it? Clothing stores in general need to keep in mind that the average American woman is a size 14, not a size 2.Not gonna give it 1 star, because the people who work there are nice

What an unpleasant experience. Went there today to sell my clothes. Upon arrival I was met with rudeness from the stuff, who took my suitcase and carelessly tossed it aside. When I received the remaining items back, they were thrown into a stinky bag and my suitcase was returned empty. My clothes were neatly folded when I brought them in etc. they could've at least put them back in. While waiting from my text message from them I was searching through the racks. I noticed many items with stains and holes so I was pretty sure that they would accept most of my clothes. My clothes were in perfect condition ( I decided to sell them because my style has changed since I bought them etc ). They were well taken care and quite expensive but mostly European brands so I assume the staff wasn't familiar with them . Unfortunately, maybe 3 out of 50 items were accepted. I live nearby but still the hassle of dragging my clothes to the store was not worth those 25$ and rude treatment from the staff.

Pretty decent selection and store for thrifting. You're able to also come in and sell your clothes if needed. This is also a rather sizable location which is about the size of a Trader Joe's! Thrifting is a big cultural trend in Brooklyn, and Beacon's Closet here is a formidable choice to do so amongst other stores.i was able to find two winter coats here and was happy with my selection. Thrifting definitely takes time and you have to have the energy to do so in order to dig through racks. However, the prices of thrifting and consignment stores have unfortunately gone up, so I give Beacon's Closet a solid 3.5 stars.

This place does have some good stuff, and it's big. But I have a proof that either the staff there are not good at pricing or they tend to overprice their items. Be prepare for that.
