I realize this is the second 5 star review that I’m writing for this fine establishment. The first was 6 years ago based on my very positive experience purchasing a vacuum cleaner. I have only stepped foot in the place twice, and both times felt compelled to leave a good review! This time, I had an impossible task related to a Kohler one piece toilet. I had first tried 3 separate hardware stores, all closer to me. These other hardware stores kinda tried to help.. all of them sent me home with different tools… NONE of which worked for my “impossible” project. I finally decided to take the extra long walk to B&G Hardware, and the moment I stepped inside, I felt like these guys know - and care - about what they’re doing. The classical music at the perfect volume… the kind man behind the counter listened to me, looked at my photos, and humbly suggested the tool that FINALLY worked like a charm! The problem was a seriously corroded and stripped screw stuck inside my Kohler toilet, preventing me from being able to install my new toilet seat. I hope I’ve learned my lesson and will take the effort to travel a little farther for the best hardware store experience around. I really like this place!

It’s a family owned local hardware store that carries a lot more inventory than your regular local hardware store. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, so is the worker. They treat you with respect and try to get out of their way helping you with products or expertise on a variety of subjects. They are used to seeing me come in early in the morning or late at night to grab some additional tools or material if I happen to run out. At this point I’d have gotten tired of seeing myself so many times… but they treat you like good neighbors do. Thank you!

The guy who runs this shop is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I go to this hardware store about once a week, they have everything! They’ve helped me pick out the right materials for all sorts of projects (hanging shelves, painting walls, staining wood, changing lightbulbs).

Yet another business illegally tacking on a credit card surcharge. I was surprised to see that the amount on my receipt differed from the total I'd been told before paying, and then I noticed the sign they've posted about their credit card fee and noticed the "non-cash adjustment" listed on my receipt. Please familiarize yourself with the laws about this, B&G. You can either list every item in the store with both a cash price and a credit card price or list only the (higher) credit card prices and offer customers a discount if they pay in cash. From the New York State Division of Consumer Protection: "Credit card surcharges are prohibited in New York State. Businesses are not allowed to advertise a price and add a surcharge at the point of sale when a consumer elects to pay with a credit card. Instead, businesses are required to inform consumers of the higher credit card price for a product or service by posting the higher price. Businesses are also able to offer a discount to consumers who pay in cash."

Here are some examples they provide of practices that comply with the law: *Listed Itemized Price Scheme: Jane goes into Shoe Store S, "The first price listed is if you use a credit card or debit card for your purchase. The second price is for cash." *Cash Discount: Sophia goes into her florist. A sign at the register says, "$3 discount for all cash purchases." And some practices that are illegal: *Percentage Fee: Tabitha goes into Tavern T for a meal. She sees on the menu a sign that says, "if you use a credit or debit card, you will incur a 5% fee." *Flat Fee Notice: Kevin goes into his corner store for some groceries. A sign at the register says, "$5 fee for credit or debit card sales." *Percentage Fee Notice: At the end of Alex's medical appointment, she sees a sign that says, "3% fee for all credit and debit card transactions."

This is my neighborhood hardware store. Only one open after my work hours. Props to the guy on staff today — super helpful and pleasant dude. Took me the time to teach me how to use the tool I was buying and made sure I got how to work it safely. Thanks man!

The cashier (older woman, glasses) is nasty, ungracious, and rude. Mean to not only her fellow employee (who was knowledgeable and kind) but to customers. Rang items up wrong, got more mad at me when it was her mistake, scolded her peer for no reason, and patronized me (“Do you know how to use those?”). Can’t tell what the quality of the store is like because she ruined the experience.

Great place to pick up WD-40, mineral spirits, and doorknobs for BIG barn doors. Very helpful.
