First off, I'm culturally Jewish, raised very strictly and non practicing now. My nieces wanted to light Hannukah candles with me on Zoom, and I couldn't find candles close to me, so I went to Riverdale knowing it's a Jewish enclave. The store is run by Hasidim, and obviously has regulars, as evidenced by the yenta who would Not Stop Gossiping with the man at the counter to let me ask one question about merchandise. Positives: the store is well stocked with all sorts of lovely items for a Jewish home, including a wide array of mezuzot, Hannukah toys, kids books, and a Havdalah set that took me back to the one my mom had in the 70's. It's a bit crowded and chaotically organized, but that's because there's a lot there. The thing I really disliked was the guy behind the counter, when I asked where the mezuzot were, said "They are made in Israel, not China. Why should we support them when we can support our own." He didn't know me, nor my politics. But he assumed a casual racism and identity xenophilia I've pushed back against with older relatives my whole life, and I'm not okay with that.Anyway, got some nice, cheap Hannukah candles and a kugel next door.

Exceptional service!!!!Israel the owner was willing to take my order 3 days before Pessach and go out his way to make sure my order will be delivered to my family in NY. I just can’t thank him enough and can’t believe I found a store that was actually kind enough to listen and help someone on the other side of the world. על זה נאמר אנשים טובים בדרך !השם יברך אותך ישראל!תודה רבה!

I walked into Riverdale Judaica to purchase a mezuzah case and klaf (kosher scroll). I found an incredibly huge and comprehensive selection of mezuzot: ceramic, stone, various metals-all sizes and shapes-nail on, screw in & stick on. There are also a LOT of seforim-floor to ceiling, a very large collection of Chanukiot + talitot, tefillin and every other Jewish ritual item. The gentleman who assisted me was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He helped me select the perfect mezuzah case to meet my needs. I was also able to find a young child’s Siddur for my granddaughter. The prices are reasonable. I completely recommend shopping for your next gift or for something for your own home or observance at Riverdale Judaica.

I am process of purchasing many of the seforim with meforshim that are now translated into English. The owner is extremely helpful with regard to getting me the ones I want and need.
