1-4-2023thanks Biden for contracting this horrible bank for the middle class refund card. and you wonder why the nation doesnt want our government to have it judge our medical care. they cant even give our veterens the best health coverage at the VA hospitals. yet they can easily give out billions of dollars to other nations. but anyway, with all the fee's to use this card you will be loosing part of your refund amount. why would any person want that? i tried to get a paper check to be sent to me instead of using the card and i got hung up on. 1 hour on the phone waiting to talk to someone and i get hung up on. wonderful. try #2 was on phone for 30 minutes and i was hung up on again after i stated i wanted a paper check. like i said thank you Biden for having this horrible company process our refunds. call #3 after being on the phone another 45 minutes, i finally got someone not hanging up on me and she said she will make a note of it and it will take another 2 weeks to get the check. i asked is there a confirmation letter or something to show me this refund is being processes as a paper check? she said no. i asked well how do i know ill be getting a check refund if there is no way to track this process? she said most just use the debit card. and i said yea most people are idiots and wont realize a percentage of fee's just using it will be taken out of the total refund either. she laughed. i thanked her and i guess ill wait the 2 weeks and see if i get a check or not. my guess is the card will be locked and ill never get a check. what a wonderful country we live in when our government works at 100% (sarcasm) thanks again biden

Incredibly frustrating trying to get money out.. I wanted a withdrawl on the 14th, just under the 10k limit. I put in the reqest on the 8th, almost a week before. On the 14th I get an email from someone at the bank with a different phone number. Spam/Phishing?? 8 minutes wasted on verification of the #. Next call the number, they drop the call. Then I call back, a second 10-12 minute wait (~30 minutes so far). Next they want to call me back, another 3 minute wait. The final frustration is they want me to answer 4 questions, three of which dealt with rental properties and addresses I owned about 10 years ago. Obviously failed that one without my computer with me. They call back in an hour when I got home, and I pass that test. They say the $$ will be transferred, but turns out, NOT on the 14th, but on the 17th (a 3 day wait that will possibly make me be late for a credit card payment). They also tell me there is a limit to what I can withdrawal each month (higher than what 97% would probably need); but not enough to close on a house in 30 days. I'm sure this is all in the fine print; but WHY couldn't they send the email, or include a pop-up, the day I put in for the transfer, telling me these steps?Currently in the process of moving my $$ out to another bank than is less restrictive in looking out for me (Ha Ha); and pays 0.014% more interest. HOPEFULLY one of the bank MBA's will read this about their policies.

Honestly the worst bank I have ever dealt with. The pure incompetency of not only the customer service call center and the branches employees and management. The hoops I am jumping through just for a simple phone number change is so ridiculous. I've been on the phone for 3 hours this has been an ongoing issue for over a month. Was also evicted out of my apartment due to the incompetency and holding my check hostage for 5 months.

One star is generous; someone stole a check from me and cashed it at this bank . I called to request assistance in investigating, as it was no small amount (lets face it, any amount stolen from you hurts) the woman who answered my call was furious with 'me' for inquiring about the stolen check and promptly disconnected the call. My Opinion, Why not investigate all avenues? She seemed to feel that I had no business calling them. I should be speaking with my bank 'alone'? Despite it being a company check made out to me, mailed to my address, and deposited (not cashed) at their bank. Fraud is something that should be investigated on all sides if you are an FDIC insured 'institution' and you operate in an ethical manner. My opinion.

This bank has been trying to process my simple loan since January 18 it's now almost 3 months and they continue to ask for documents and then someone else from the bank asks for the same documents.. and they tell you that they have no staff well that is their business problem not mine and I was just told by a friend that he is trying to get a real estate sale completed and this bank is holding it up I have been a customer for 20 years and everyone at the bank can't seem to clear up the backlog Bad service bad situation

If you are thinking about opening an account with New York Community Bank I would suggest you jump off a bridge instead. Because that's what it feels like when you're dealing with New York Community Bank because they hold your money hostage and put limits on how much you can spend.

You can only do drive threw for their hylan blvd location due to covid! I understand covid is bad but the bank has glass partitions. I had an old man on line in front of me standing there since he had no car in the freezing cold. They are suppose to let people without cars go into tge bank but no one knows this Maybe they coukd try putting a sign up instead of one that just says closed due to covid

This is the WORST BANK EVER! Their unprofessional and rude to say the least. Doree a "teller" not even a Mgr. will try to overpower you and if you don't like it she will say "will you like to take your money elsewhere". Well I guess that's what we will do. Take our money to a bank that DOSENT lift her glasses roll her eyes says "excuse me" "wow" put her hands on her waist to try to make herself like she is some sort of CEO with attitude. NEVER been so disrespected! I am saying to anyone looking to open any sort of account to run away from this bank. No Wonder THEIR OVERALL-RATINGS ARE ONLY 2 STARS. SHOULD ZERO STARS IF ALLOWED. No wonder why their so slow. Guess this "Doree" needed to vent due to her frustration tho myself as customer is wrong person to be disrespectful to.

I never write reviews because I'm an extremely extremely busy person, but this review I just had to write to warn others to stay far far away from this bank. I only opened an account here because I live in NY and wanted to support a local bank. That was the biggest mistake of my life. Customer Service is awful, online banking registration is impossible even after I answered all the security questions correctly. I tried registering an online account in 2017 and gave up cause it was soooooo goddam difficult . I went to close my account and they wouldn't let me. I have since moved and now I trying again to register an online account and I am told to go to a branch to update my new address. Apparently customer service that i was on hold for 40 minutes doesn't have the ability to update it for me even after giving my Social Security Number an answering all security questions correctly. Don't do business here NYCB is poorly managed bank, and I mean all the branches and online banking. All the negative reviews you read here are so true. I wish there was a no star option.

4 of all 4 branch managers plus their back office all screwed up royally on anything I depended upon them for. You name it, no matter how simple, easy or hard, they will find a way to screw it up. I had a small ira I inherited and it was one mistake after another, after another, after another. All unforced errors on their part. Avoid.
