Joyce Kilmer Park, nestled snugly in the heart of the city, may be petite in size, but it packs a delightful punch for locals and visitors alike. This charming urban oasis is a haven for families, dogs, and anyone seeking a leisurely stroll.Though small, Joyce Kilmer Park holds its own unique charm. Its modest size makes it an ideal spot for a relaxed walk or a playful romp with your four-legged friend. In fact, it's become a paradise for dogs, with plenty of space for them to stretch their legs and make new furry friends. For parents, it's a blessing. The kids' playground is a source of endless entertainment, and the sculptures scattered around provide a dash of creativity. The park may be small, but it sure knows how to keep the little ones happy.Speaking of history, Joyce Kilmer Park has a story to tell. Named after the renowned poet and journalist, Joyce Kilmer, it stands as a tribute to his literary contributions. Located in the South Bronx, this green gem is conveniently close to Yankee Stadium, making it an excellent pre-game or post-game pitstop for baseball enthusiasts. Now, here's a little concern: during my last visit, I noticed some litter scattered around. I hope the park's users can be more mindful and help keep this charming space clean and inviting for everyone. In summary, Joyce Kilmer Park, despite its size, offers a slice of tranquility amidst the urban buzz. It's a place for kids to play, dogs to run, and folks to take a leisurely stroll. Located near Yankee Stadium, it's steeped in history and provides a peaceful escape. Let's all do our part to keep it beautiful for future visits.Playground: Plenty of lawns and there were some youth events ongoing.Dog-friendliness: The park is dog friendly and most of them were on leash.

Joyce Kilmer Park should be the highlight of 161st St. Instead, there is litter underneath the benches, bottle caps, water balloons, leaves from 2019 where grass can't grow, coals poured on trees and sidewalks when it's not allowed, and crushed glass and debris on the walkways. This park needs constant maintenance. Instead, you will see no park enforcement and police when people are having large parties with liquor bottles strewn all over, and one person cleaning up a weekends worth of trash. It is a disgrace how you don't see any park officials in this park. If they did, the park would be in a better condition, but let me not forget those who degredate this park, because they are no better.

The park offers little bit of peace in a feature-rich location. Just places popular for people getting married people, who love walking their dog. If you're entering from the 161st Street side there is a statue that's followed by two parallel pathways on the side of a rectangular lush lawn. Both pathways lead to a playground on the north side of the park complete with sprinklers. Now as for the feature-rich location I mentioned, this park is situated next to Metro North, the 4 train and countless bus routes. Everything is at arm's reach. You have fast food, traditional restaurants, bars, there's even a mall and you're right next to the beloved Yankee stadium.
