DO NOT HIRE this company!! I wish I had read these reviews before hiring them. This is NOT the old Deland. It's under new management - Frank Lopez. He is a con man. His estimate was completely off, he sent guys who didn't know what they were doing, he damaged valuable furniture, stored items - and broke a good number of them - for which he overcharged past his estimate, and then on moving day threatened to drive off with our possessions if we didn't pay two deposits. He quoted us for 10 hours, but came late, had too few men for the job, and took 2x too long on everything. We were essentially robbed. I would give negative stars if I could.

These guys used to be great!Seems like maybe theres a new management. The workers are ok- no issues. I got an estimate with a 25% cap. The prices came out to more than the cap but we agreed to stay at the cap. I then get an invoice and a charge for the higher amount saying it cost them more so its my problem essentially. I am still disputing it and they are refusing to refund the stolen money. Unethical thieves.

If I could leave zero stars I would . I used Deland over 15 years for all my big moves and storage in between. However they recently are under new management and the new owner is questionable. I recently relocated to LA and they scammed me out of several thousand dollars . They negotiated a price telling me they would pay the driver a portion and the rest I would pay on delivery. They weirdly would not allow me to contact him directly even though i asked several times just to make arrangements. I paid them a deposit which they said would be paid directly to the driver. However when he arrived in Los Angeles I learned they paid him a small fraction of what was agreed and kept the rest for themselves . VERY SHADY!!! Sad that such a great establishment has been disgraced like this . I DON'T RECOMMEND!

I've been using Deland for years. Deland has done every move within NYC that I have ever done. We even became friends. When it came time for my move across the country, of course I would go to him. Unfortunately, it was a bad experience. Money was stolen, a picture that was to be crated was, in the end, not crated and arrived damaged, and numerous items were missing. When I addressed this with Deland, the response was, "You signed the paperwork, there is no claim." Of course it was known that there was no way I would go through each of the many, many boxes before they left. The response was also that they asked us if we wanted the picture opened, and we declined the offer. This is untrue. I am aware that things get damaged in a move, but the theft of MANY of my belongings prompted me to write the review. Punctual, yes. Friendly, yes. Deland, Jesus and Felix were great workers and friendly, but when things are stolen... DO NOT use them.

As a Realtor I've had the opportunity to work with many vendors throughout the years. The one most difficult thing to recommend, when I give referrals to clients, whether it be contractors, handymen, painters, plumbers, electricians, floor guys, drywall co.'s, roofers, or anything you can think of related to homes; the one most difficult vendor to refer has always been for me the services of good movers! For many years I would receive complaints from clients regarding my Recomendation of certain movers, until about 5 years ago or so I stumbled upon Deland Moving and Storage! and although his company is in New York and my business is in Florida, I don't often have the opportunity to refer them on a monthly basis but the more than a half a dozen times that he's moved my clients from New York to Florida, I have yet to find one that has been displeased about any portion of the many services he provides. Most movers unfortunately overpromise and under deliver. Deland Moving and Storagestorage is totally the opposite. When he tells you he's going to give you outstanding service, second to none, all at a reasonable price, he delivers and then some. Not only does he meet clients expectations but he exceeds them every single time! If you look on his website he is so good, that he has actually had the pleasure of moving very big names around the country and Celebrities as well! And I'm sure those guys will not just hire the first company they find in the Yellow Pages, so his reputation must definitely precede him. I will continue to always sing my praises about him and his company to any new client that needs his services. Give him a try... You will not be disappointed!

What can I say... my wife and I left our home in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that we lived in for 34 years to move to Ormond Beach, Florida three and a half weeks ago. Deland, David, William, Red and their two young associates treated us like they came from Williamsburg... like family, even though like my wife they came from the Bronx. (LOL!) We felt safe and secure with the whole crew. And when the load was overweight and a second delivery had to be made a couple of weeks later, who arrived at our door on a late Sunday night but Deland, the boss, and William delivering the rest of our items (specifically 8 or 9 more boxes) because they were in the neighborhood... Virginia. As I told Deland when he left, "When we move back to Brooklyn we are calling you." He laughed and said, "You're not moving back to Brooklyn." Maybe not, but we have to spread the word about this company's great service and professionalism. Not to mention that when friends came over in the middle of the move in Brooklyn and had a bottle of wine, David took it upon himself to go out and buy us a corkscrew since ours was already packed and on the truck. You can't beat that. Thanks!

The best telephone customer service. Even tho Vivian the the very help lady was not able to assist me do to my unique situation she took the time out to google and find me a agency that might help my needs.. Thanks for your time Vivian i appreciate it.

I have moved many times, and have used different moving companies. However, during my last move to Muttontown, LI, I had the best experience with Deland Moving and Storage. The quality of service and professionalism was bar none above the rest, not to mention the two day packing, one day loading and one day move. If I ever move again, I know who I am calling.

They couldn't move the truck 2 feet so that I could park. They could have pulled up for 3 seconds so that I could have backed in. They had no boards or furniture that they were carrying. My Mother is elderly. Really selfish!
