Obsessed with the Lodge! Perfect get away and very easy to get to from NYC! The design is next level! We went up for 2 nights, worked a little, relaxed a lot and ate really well! The team on site was very engaging and added to our overall experience! Pro-Tip: book a room that has the cedar soaking tub on your own deck!
Rooms: The design of the rooms and the overall lodge are jaw dropping! Who ever designed the lodge, can you come help me with my apartment :)
Nearby activities: There are awesome activities nearby: Hiking, Fly Fishing, Great Breweries
Food and drinks: The food was delicious and every cocktail we had was fabulous!

We had a blast. Staff couldn’t have been friendly or more accommodating. The property is beautiful. The rooms and decor are awesome. Loved the cold plunge and sauna. Food and drinks were great. Can’t wait to go back :)

Urban Cowboy Lodge exceeded our expectations with its stunning decor, cozy rooms, and breathtaking mountain views. The staff were incredibly attentive, and the on-site restaurant offered delicious, locally-sourced dishes. It’s the perfect getaway spot—luxurious, peaceful, and truly unique! Insider tip: book The Cabin is it’s available - you won’t regret it!

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The lodge is very cozy and the grounds are beautiful. The rooms are fine but a little less luxurious than we expected - specifically very dark and somewhat bare bones. The bed and shower water pressure were fantastic. I would recommend requesting an upper level room if possible.
Our only complaints: 1) they don’t have staff service the breakfast and both days there were no plates, no coffee and minimal food. 2) the dinner food was delish but we also had some bad service the second time we ate onsite. 3) staff told us the trails on their nearby property were “clearly marked” and this was not at all the case. They kept saying this property was “across the street” from the lodge and in fact it was across a different road (not the road into urban cowboy lodge).

I definitely recommend off season or day if the week. We stayed a week and Monday through Wednesday was beautiful, quiet, and easy to book the sauna or tv room. But come Thursday and Friday it was very busy and not as enjoyable.
There are also a few amenities that needed a rehab. Most board games were missing pieces and the pool table queues were all broken including the triangle. The table was also dried out.
Loved the rooms and the hot tubs.

Had a fantastic stay and the pups loved it too. Beds were so comfy, I slept like a rock. Had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant and the food was great as well. Can’t wait to come back!

Let me start off with the title, "nickel and diming" customers. We drove 7 hours to the lodge. I emailed the lodge and requested with no obligation for early arrival if possible. I received an email if I wanted to check-in any earlier, I must pay another $50.00. I am talking about maybe an hour earlier from 3pm check-in. Forget it, next the breakfast. It's a type of breakfast you get from a Motel 6. No one gave us any service, no pouring coffee, nothing but they charge another 20 per cent for the tip...for what???? On top of that they give you the plate size that you use to put your coffee cup on. I ask where the regular plates and they informed me that the small plates are it. Because it's all you can eat so giving an extremely small plate will prevent you for eating too much. Never experience this any resort I've been to since we were charge $650.00 per night. The room was very dark and the window in the room could not close because it's broken, so we needed to raise the heat at night to compensate for the cold air coming into the room. The only good thing about the lodge is the staff was very nice and the dinner at the resort was excellent. Not enough to return to, very bad policies from the owners. I am sure I'll be seeing a "form" response from the lodge.

We booked a 3-night, 4-day stay at Urban Cowboy hoping for a peaceful, intimate weekend with our dogs and some nature. Well, we got some of that—minus the peaceful part.
First off, make sure you download your maps in advance. The hotel is so deep in the woods, it might as well be Narnia. No cell service 20 minutes out, so if you have an urgent need to tweet about getting lost, you’re out of luck until you hit their Wi-Fi.
We stayed in a soaking tub room on the second floor of the Walden Cabin. "Cozy" would be putting it kindly. It’s more like staying in a dark, 19th-century armoire. The room was so dim we lost our socks, keys, and sanity on day one. Misplacing things in that room became the weekend’s top entertainment. There’s no dresser and zero hanging space, so we had the unique pleasure of living out of our suitcases while playing hide-and-seek with basic necessities.
Now, let’s talk about ambiance. The walls are paper thin. So thin, I got to hear our neighbors…um, “playing cowboy” in their own tub just behind a plywood wall. Talk about an awkward introduction to Urban Cowboy. First night, 8 pm, I’m trying to relax in the tub, and they’re over there riding off into the sunset. Needless to say, I got out and gave them their “privacy.” Yeehaw, neighbors!
The bathroom was a joke. Nowhere to put anything and, to top it off, the toilet broke on the first night. Management’s solution? Peeing in the woods like true pioneers. We had to use the main lodge for anything else. And what compensation did they offer for this primitive experience? A generous, laughable $59.95 refund on a $599/night room. Maybe next time they can throw in a complimentary leaf for wiping, too.
Now, onto food. Breakfast? Sure, if you’re into a self-serve “continental” breakfast that’s mostly scrambled eggs and a few sad bagels. Lunch? Forget it. You’ll need to go foraging because they don’t serve food until 4 pm. By the time we found a place to eat lunch, we were almost ready for dinner. Speaking of, the dinner menu has fewer options than a vending machine. We ordered pasta: the spaghetti was sized for a toddler, and the gnocchetti was decent, but not enough to distract from our hunger.
The property’s trail takes a whopping 30 minutes to complete. If you blink, you’ll miss it. They do have some more impressive hikes at their other location, but we didn’t drive out there. Tried to book the sauna? Nope, no times available. Tried to get cozy by the fire pits? Good luck, they’ve only got two for the whole place. And if you’re craving s’mores, bring your wallet—$8 for two stale marshmallows, two graham crackers, and a Hershey’s square. A bit steep for something most places toss in for free. We couldn’t decide whether to roast them or frame them for what they cost.
The staff was nice, but bless them, they’re overworked. We waited 20 minutes just to be seated because no one was available, and another 30 minutes for our food to arrive. One afternoon, we ordered a “late lunch” and thought maybe they were harvesting the ingredients themselves because it took 45 minutes to show up.
Overall, Urban Cowboy is beautifully designed and set in a stunning location, but it’s all style over substance. For the price, you’d expect more than dimly lit dollhouses, DIY plumbing, and overpriced marshmallows. The experience was fine, but at half the cost, I’d have been happier. They say it’s about the little things—but here, the little things cost extra. Surprised they didn’t charge us for peeing in the woods.
Would we stay again? Maybe…if they throw in a free roll of toilet paper.

We had such a wonderful experience here! The food was all good (two red pastas for dinner is kind of crazy but ??♀️) and the service is top notch. Everyone was super friendly and I can’t wait to return.
The rooms are stocked with snacks and drinks to purchase along with some bath/spa offerings in room as well. It’s pretty easy to get to and there’s a decent number of things to do in the general area but definitely understand there is no service here and you are coming to CHILL.

The doctor knows her stuff and her medical staff is very professional. My complaint is with her clerical staff they get the records all messed up. I keep receiving a bill from other patients that are in arrears!! Then when you try to tell them, they act as though you’re nuts!

Bedrooms look cute but the lights are not dimmable so you stay in dark, take your lantern with you. The walls are not soundproof, you can hear ppl slamming doors at 4am. NO SLEEP.
Bathroom is like a NYC studio apt, really small, there is no shower glass it’s plastic curtains, also there is no countertop space in the sink, and plus the flooring is not heated. ??
Prepare to clean the bedroom, there is no bedroom service and if you need new towels you better go get yourself they won’t bring to you. There is no hospitality.
The food is like the rest.. I’m done for today.
Good luck folks .

BE CAREFUL WITH OVER CHARGES !!
As you can tell by reading all the reviews like we did, you say,,, Hmmmm,,, A good place . Well, it is a very nice place. So 5 stars for that. As a first time guest, I could not believe the additional charge on my bill of $75.00 for cleaning a coffee stain. At no time during my stay did I or my wife spill coffee. I debated the charge but they did absolutely nothing. I asked them to send me photos of the stain, they said they will and they never did. They should at least respond to first time guest. We won’t be back due to the management , as for the place it was beautiful.

Overall nice experience
Rooms: We booked on the website and the room was much smaller than the picture of the room we chose. However, we made due and it was a nice room. I thought for the price that the rooms should have been better appointed. A pitcher of water (since they don't give you bottled or sell it on premises) Extra towels. The electrical sockets are old and don't always hold the plugs well.
Food and drinks: Chef Daniel did a wonderful job of creating a nice menu of delicious cuisine. We had drinks in the parlor and ordered the Challah with the Schmaltz butter - outstanding. We shared two entrees; the branzino and the portebello mushrooms. We enjoyed. John the bartender makes a nice drink and is very accommodating and creative. The drinks were outrageously expensive $28 for a vodka on the rocks with a little juice. We are well traveled and eat in NYC quite often. Never have we paid $28 for a standard vodka cocktail. We had a nice Bordeux with dinner but felt the pour was a little small.
Noteworthy details: There is no bottled water for sale. The staff does not put a pitcher of water in your room. We asked for it at the bar. Everything has a gratuity already added. Noone tells you this when you check in. Only our server at dinner let us know this.So we thought it was just for dinner. But there is a tip jar on the bar - but they are already charging you a 20% gratuity! The tipping culture is out of the control. We found our bill to be quite illuniating. We should have been told. There are no extra towels in the rooms - I would ask when you check in for extra towels. The towels do not dry well upstate and stay damp.

Truly a majestic place. I wish I found it sooner! Would definitely love to go back. We stayed in the Chalet lodge on the property which is perfect for a family traveling. The living room had a fireplace and a pullout queen sofa bed, so comfortable and beautifully decorated. We loved the soaking tub in the back which was private and had the most amazing view into the woods. The kitchen was also perfect and we felt great cooking in it and drinking coffee. The view on the property is spectacular. My kids loved seeing the groundhogs, wild turkeys, deer and a bald eagle soaring above us as we played volleyball on the lawn. The staff is amazing and the lodge itself is fantastic. Dinner and cocktails were delicious. And the breakfast buffet albeit small was delicious and served great coffee. We took advantage of the swimming hole near the entrance and while the water was cold the sun during midday made it awesome and exhilarating so take advantage.
