St Vincent De Paul pretends to help they ask you for all of your personal information and bills and don't help they even want to come do a house visit like they are Social Services...I am inclined to believe they are picking and choosing who they want to assist. I have heard this issue from several clients and people I know. Shame.

I was attending mass at Our Lady Of Loretto Church in hempstead New York. After the mass, the social services dept of the church made a speech. Ana from Social Services stated “ if anyone is suffering a hardship to please come fill out an application and that they will do everything to try to help the community. I went to the basement of the church with my wife and she interviewed us. Ana told us that someone would be calling us to setup a house visit.I called the church and I was told that they can’t help me any further and that I have to personally speak with St Vincent de Paul. Since April I haven’t heard from anybody. In July I was called by a volunteer Rosalba whom on multiple occasions kept asking for my paystubs, car insurance documents, phone bill, energy bill etc. I’ve forwarded these documents multiple times . First I was told I qualify for help with one months rent. Then she calls me to tell me that she doesn’t think I qualify. Then I’ve spoken with Paula many times whom told me that she was going to speak with Rosalba and someone in charge in giving help. It’s now the new year and I haven’t heard back from St Vincent De Paul. I’m a Catholic and I feel that everyone should be treated equal regardless of race, or nationality. I’ve spoken with Obisto Romero and I will also be making a formal complaint with Father Rufus Vasquez. God Bless everyone in St Vincent De Paul and hopefully someone reads this and at least helps me with one month of rent. I hope that god blesses Rosalba to make the right decision and try to help me. Coming from a Catholic Church it really doesn’t look right how you preach to people all the help you can provide and yet you do nothing to help anyone. You should practice what you preach . Also it’s not fair to help only one type of race which I can’t say on hear and the rest of people left out. We are all gods children and should be treated equally as such. It seems that she only wants to help the Salvadorean race and she tends to only select whom she wants to help. I also told Rosalba that my income was a lot less when I worked at the airport. I told her that the new income at AT&T is not going to show my hardship. Everyone needs help regardless of race and creed. If she can put her hand on the Bible and say that she did no wrong I would like her to do so. Being a hypocrite is not being a real true catholic. I’m sorry. Then on Sundays you show a different face in church. It’s not right and this is why I’m writing this review to let people know the unjust things that are being done. Instead of Rosalba explaining what happens at the airport. Being a Racist is not being a Catholic. Besides my Wife is Half Salvadorean de la Union y From Honduras. Also when I left my job at AT&T to go work at jfk airport my pay was drastically reduced. This is when I started to have financial difficulty. Follow up and Communication is key with any type of situation. In no shape or form has our lady of Loretto outreach program let in contact with me or even called me. On one occasion Ana from the outreach dept told me that it was out of hands and that I had to deal directly with St Paul De Paul Society. I spoke with many representatives from there dept whom told me that I had to wait until August 17th to get and interview from one of the volunteers. In September Rosalba called me and asked me for paystubs, from both me and my wife, and other documents. Then frequently Rosalba would call me to tell me “hurry up because there are funds available” i then would tell her that I sent all the documents. Rosalba replied “ I still haven’t received anything”. Then during the interview in September I gave her the documents again. She called me in October to tell me that she still hasn’t received the documents but doesn’t feel I qualify because of my income. I kept telling Rosalba to please let the conference no that my airport pay was a lot less than my recent paystubs. Afterwards no follow up from Rosalba I’m November , December, or January. Then Rosalba said my case was still open and that Paula never responded to

DO NOT under any circumstances waste your time with their pick up services to donate. I wasted a day off to donate my moms furniture. They came in her house and without looking said the furniture was worn. Now mind you it was in mint condition. Why even have this service and waste someones valuable time. I spoke to other people who feel the same way but i figured impossible from a Catholic charity boy was i wrong.

No help at all, thanks for nothing. Really frustrating to deal with the inconsiderate driver and helper. It's hard enough when your son's mother passes at 37 years old. I truly thought I was doing the right thing donating her curated pieces of furniture to an organization like SVDP since she was a devout woman of faith. These people were no help. Wouldn't take antiques in pristine condition because "sets" were incomplete. It's eclectic, that's the point! Anyway, now I'm faced with more work because unlike the signature on their letterhead, your kindness is taken for granted and we're not interested in helping the poor. God Bless you.

This place is a joke. I wanted to donate an apartment full of furniture and household stuff. They were advised the furniture was on the second floor of a house. They told me they would go up and assess whether the drivers would be able to take the stuff down. They came today and didn’t want to take the stuff for safety reasons and advised the stuff would have to be brought down and then they would take it. Fine!! I asked them to take 4 medium sized boxes of household items a

My electricity was shut off, just because they helped me in the past they will not help me anymore. They are telling me that they have other people that they need to help, trust me I understand that, but my electricity has been shut off!!! They would rather see me shut off than to help me. Someone help me to understand.
