Hello All I have been a yelp reviewer for a long time. I usually do a review on excellent service and terrible service. This time I will share a terrible but not a criminal issue ( according to the two police officers I talked earlier. By the way, police officers from Bedford Hills, NY and Mt.Kisco, NY were A+++. Thank you for what you do!) My husband and I dropped off a car we were planning to sell to fix few issues. We haven't used it much and decided to sell the car since the market is hot and we don't need it. I wanted to sell it to the individual so I wanted to fix the car at least up to the point that the new owner wouldn't have any major problem when he/she buy it. If I sell it to the dealer, I don't need to but for my better conscience, I brought it to the mechanic. It already had new brakes done, new battery, oil changes done before send it to them. Why do it for the car that I will sell? Beats me. I am that kind of person. First, they said, it need new coil and sparkling plug which is the reason I sent it to them. After that, they claimed it need a new alternator. At this point, I wasn't so happy with them because they changed the estimates second time. I didn't want to spend too much to the car but they said it needed to be done. So I said okay and will pay the bill which I thought was way too high to begin with. I went to the mechanic with a box of Truffle as a token of appreciation to pay and pick up the car key so my husband and I can pick it up later. When I got there, this gentleman said the car won't start and it needed a new starter which would cost me another $600 in addition to $1000+ bill I was willing to pay already. To make the story short, I said I would suck it up and pay. My husband and went back few days later to pay in the morning. This time, the same gentleman said they don't have a credit card machine at the shop, and I needed to leave my credit card information so they can run it through somewhere else. I don't know about you but I wouldn't leave my cc info to some people who changed their bills three times. At this point, I just wanted to take my car and be done with them. Yesterday, I called back to go to pay for the car bill in the afternoon so the person who takes care of credit card would be in the office and tried to bring my car next morning. The person in the office whom I met when I dropped off the Truffle picked up said, J: "We do NOT accept the credit card payment. Me: "The gentleman whom you call your boss asked me to leave my credit card information. And that's why I am calling you to talk to you to pay for the charges. By the way, your boss never mentioned cash either. J: "No, you must have misunderstood." Me: " I am sorry to inform you but my husband was with us and heard it all" J: "I will/cannot take a credit card from you. What if you dispute the charges? " Me: " Now you are telling me the truth,, If you had done the work right, why would I dispute the charges? J: " It doesn't matter now. I will not give you the car unless you bring the cash." I inquired why he was lying before but he couldn't comment on it. They keep telling me that I don't trust them. But how can you trust people who changed their price tag three times, lied two to three times in one phone conversation. I paid cash and they again told me that they mentioned the payment method over the phone which was not true again. They might(??) get the work done ( I am giving them the benefit of doubts to be fair since I never used them before) and they might be nice to their old clients. However, if they can do this to a new client and anybody can be a victim of it. Please be advised from my experience and ask many questions before leaving them a car. If I did it again, I would have waited or brought the car back when they could check the car in front of me if I had known. Thank you and have a wonderful day! I was informed that they were supposed to post a labor charges/ hour inside the office.
