The IT Department, in particular Charles Steffen, is terrific. Not only is Charles very skilled at his job, he is also very generous with his time and a compassionate advocate for the residents. His approach exhibits a perfect mix of friendliness and professionalism. I am extraordinarily grateful to have Charles as a resource for my brother's needs.

My aunt was given the best care while she was a resident. She had Parkinson disease and was provided with love, and exceptional care. I visited multiple times during the week and my aunt was always clean and properly dressed. Staff provided me with feedback and addressed all my concerns. A big thank you to the staff on the 5th floor especially to the head nurse, Shelia! She was kind, patient and totally an ideal leader. A shout out to social worker, Victoria who answered all my questions and helped me arrange hospice care for my aunt's final days.I never had to worry about my aunt in all the years she spent at Ozanam Hall.Thank you, Sr. Philip for running such a warm and caring residence.

It's taken me sometime to write a review due to still processing the recent passing of my beloved Father. My Father resided at Ozanam for only a month up until his passing in April 2023. And from the moment my Mom and I transitioned my Father to Ozanam up until his death we received the utmost EXCELLENT care and family support. Due to other bad reviews, we looked over Ozanam back in July 2021 and now only wished we initially transferred my Father to Ozanam from the ER/hospital from the start of his physical decline as opposed to enduring (3) other previous local facilities that were not good experiences and contributed to his detriment. If you're looking for excellent nursing care, attentiveness and professionalism then look no further and call Ozanam. My Family and I can't thank Ozanam and Calvary enough for your undying service and support!!

Having been a nurse for 18 years and working in Nursing Homes since i was 17 years old, Ozanam Hall is by far the best Skilled Nursing Facility I've EVER worked for. The genuine love, care and support felt by the staff to each other and to our residents is overwhelming. The moment you walk into the facility you know that the mission is true, that we are to care for the aged and infirm and allow our patients to age in place with dignity and respect.

My dad had stroke. The first night when he was transferred from hospital to this facility, he fell from bed to the ground. The nurse called me and said to me in a very mean tone “Does he like to sleep on the floor? “ My father had the worse experience in there. Until now, every time we mentioned the words of “nursing home”, he would be very upset. I regret so much for sending him there

I was recently discharged from Ozanam Hall as a rehab patient. I owe my recovery to the dedicated personnel of this facility. From the nursing staff, occupational and physical therapy,to the aides I received nothing but the best of care. The Sisters were welcoming and made me feel at home. God bless your work.Eternally grateful. Jean Kawka.

My grandmother was transferred here after a few weeks in the hospital after being severely medically mistreated at Brooklyn Center for Rehabilitation. The facility is dated but don’t let that be your reason for not giving them a chance. She was on the 10th Fl ( rehabilitation). Her wound was serious & the care that it received was extremely difficult but done with care & consistency. Communication is direct & generally responses take less than 24hrs. The Nursing staff ( Nurse Jean ) was amazing. She listened to my concerns and questions & made the necessary changes. Most of the nurses were kind, caring & empathetic. As with any facility it’s important to be present, advocate & knowledgeable. This way your LO is given the best care possible. My nana passed on 8/15/23 @ Ozanam, she was 91 with a host of other medical conditions. But even how her death was handled was with care & compassion. I would recommend this facility.

It’s been 4 months since our patient died, I have only fond memories of this place.Of course there is no perfect 10 place , but considerably speaking, look around and compare. This place rank on the top place. When you enter the lobby it looks like the bygone era of the 20s.There is an aura of quiet and peace. If you misbehave , there’s a nun walking with an adorable dog , who will remind you - “hey buddy, no squeaking please”.The hallway leading to the patient’s room is like a hotel. They’re spotless. If you’re inside the patient’s room, you could be with another patient but will feel the privacy because the way it was designed. The staffs, Doctor, nurses, aides, PT were great!Being my patient was a picky eater, he liked the food. So take it from there.Cleanliness is out of this world.I highly recommend this place.I’m even thinking of working here.Than you!

My best friends mom went here from the hospital for rehabilitation last week. She wasn't there two nights before she called her son to please get her out. The second night a male attendant or nurse entered her room at 3:30 in the morning to 'check' her diaper. At 5:30 he returned again to 'check ' her and told her to "clean your crotch" She is a completely lucid woman only in her late 70's. She called her son after the first encounter at 3:30am to say she is very uncomfortable and found this encounter creepy and disturbing. Unless a patient rings for the nurse at this hour, it is most unlikely that the staff goes around waking people at 3:30 in the morning to check their diaper. In fact if you ask most patients at most facilities they ring and ring and get ignored for long periods of time, and are left in soiled diapers. I wish I knew the name to report this, but the patient was too scared to say a word and just wanted out. She doesn't want her family to say anything because she's scared of retaliation. I imagine that a person who was not as lucid as she may be in danger of abuse. I know I wouldn't take that chance and send ANY patient there after hearing this

So so experience. My mother was at this facility for hospice car. Weekend staff can't compare to weekday staff. Weekend staff (meaning nurses) quite rude and habit of ignoring your questions or requests. Food is horrendous. Seriously disgusting. I worked in a NYC public high school and their lunches were gourmet 5 star meals compared to what they feed the elderly in this facility.I will say however, there are certain weekday nurses and doctor's who were caring, compassionate and kind hearted. I was able to visit my mom daily for the few weeks she was in hospice, but only because I live nearby. If i had to leave my mother here, i don't believe I would do so.This facility needs better trained staff, better paid staff (as you get what you pay for) healthier food options for their patients and lastly the building needs to be completely renovated from basement up! Rooms, bathrooms, common areas are about 75 years old with limited to no upkeep. It was so sad to see so many elderly left alone only to watch TV as their entertainment.

What an amazing staff. We had a difficult transfer admission from another nursing home whose care was inadequate. Ozanam acted quickly and efficiently in getting our Franciscan brother a new home. He received a warm greeting , nursing came immediately, and was set up with physical therapy the next day. This, and on a Friday afternoon from Manhattan to Queens, is a miracle in itself.Ozanam is not the newest building, but that is now our criterion for selection. The facility reflects a Catholic atmosphere, the staff care and are ready to help. This is a great place. Simply appointed rooms in a good location, with administration, staff, and religious sisters who care. What more can you really want for your loved one? Care, attention, and respect is what you get at Ozanam.Michael

My grandfather was a patient at Ozanam Hall for about a year. He suffered from Trigeminal Neuralgia, a past stroke as well as cancer. Although it was not his ideal decision to go to a rehab/nursing home facility it was probably one of the best choices we made. My grandpa was on the 10th floor being taken care of by Margaret, Maureen, Jean and countless other works who genuinely cared for my grandfather. Although he has now passed I just want to thank every worker on the 10th floor as well as Sister Phillips and the Social Worker Victoria. Thank you all for everything you did and continue to do!

I recently had a family member in their short-term rehab and it was a really good experience. The staff were very kind, the grounds were beautiful and the facility was very clean. They made my relative feel at home. This is the best rehab I have seen!

If I could give this place no stars I would…the amount of disrespect is crazy in this place. Majority of the staff is so uneducated. I am baffled for what I endured here. Do not recommend to bring your loved ones here. They don’t even wash or have a patient ready the day of discharge. But they want to know when patient is leaving 2 days in advance. Crazy. Please if you love your mom dad grandfather etc do not bring them back to this terrible facility.Only good thing I can say is the social workers especially Christine, they are amazing. Ms. Christine is so sweet and caring.
