“We did not stay at the hotel but ate dinner at The Homestead. The grounds were very well maintained and very lovely. The restaurant was well appointed and a pleasure. Overall, the food was tasty. Now for actual critique. The place is not cheap. I ordered a NY strip. The meat came unadorned on the plate with a couple of slices of cucumber relish. Super plain. Since you eat with your eyes first, the dish is super simple and unappealing. I ordered a baked potatoe. $9 for a luke warm potatoe. Really?! The sautéed mushrooms and caramelized onions were very tasty. Also, $9. My wife ordered a halibut. Small portion and again unappealing. The service was very slow, although the place was fairly empty. Disappointing for the location and pricing. I would only recommend it with proper warning. I'm not likely going back. The owner came over. Nice guy and gave us a little history. Interesting.”
