Adopted two cats from this shelter. Great staff, exceptional volunteers (Karen!!!!) Well educated and go the extra mile not just for me, but for other people who adopted. Clean environment, and cats are well kept and obviously loved even if they are only going to stay with the shelter for a brief time before being adopted. Recommend highly to anyone looking for a shelter they can trust.

Okay, on November, 2022 went there to become a volunteer with the dogs. There were a lot of folks. Was told to do the Certification program online. Couldn't log in, got help from Leta, coordinator. Studied, passed, received certificate. Took me 2 months to finish. Was told that could not volunteer with the dogs, only cats( didn't get the explanation) oh, well I didn't mind , I lost my two beloved cats and I love cats.Started volunteering there. The lady who showed me the rops (Tracy) wasn't nice. I was on my own after just 2 sessions. Ladies who work there are rude, and I was ignored by them. And they're not good with the people who want to adopt! Which I found in unbelievable because that's what shelters are for, the People!Personally, I feel soo lonely volunteering than it became too much pain , so I quit.Shame on you, Saratoga Animal Shelter staff for being condescending to me and the others. No matter how good you're with the dogs and the cats, you shouldn't hate people who want to volunteer or adopt.Your job just makes no sense at all!And it doesn't matter how good your shelter is equipped. You're the" killer of the dreams " of people who are already hurt by lost of their beloved pets.Disrespectfully.Veronika

This shelter got exposed via Facebook for convincing an owner to surrender their cat for a procedure, with the agreement to re-adopt. They ended up giving the cat away instead of reaching out to the owner, as agreed. Other people came forward in the comments stating that they’ve done the same to them. This shelter convinces you to surrender animals temporarily, steals them and re-adopts to other people. Please beware. Don’t listen to a word they say. Keep your babies close.

Probably one of the most discriminatory shelters I've experienced. Took my sister to look at a few dogs, one was picked that shit liked. My sister was told to schedule an appointment with the shelters "adoption counselor" a week out from the day she arrived & that she would be FIRST IN LINE (their exact words) to meet with the dog of her choice. After 20+minutes of getting in contact with the company, a woman proceeded to say that The dog was taken off the site & adopted 4 days prior. the staff had NO remorse & continued to say "yeah no sorry we don't hold dogs they're first come first serve everyday", asked if we wanted to keep our appointment & then hung up. If you're not a Saratoga resident or of the same complexion as them, do yourself a favor & don't waste your time here.

Organized, professional and thorough. I was impressed by the cleanliness and the staff was a total joy to work with. I highly recommend adopting from the county shelter. My new dog was totally clean..ears, teeth, nails, skin and fur. Very happy with my new best friend.

I went there to find a new best friend and I got her. Sky is an absolute sweetheart.Carly introduced us and went out of her way to explain Sky's past and the patients and love she would require. I have had the pleasure of having Sky by my side for 2 days now and she is a total joy to have by my side. My thanks to the staff and especially to Carly for her time and kindness. I have nothing but gratitude and kind words for them all.

I adopted this unit back in 2015. She was 11 years then. Was at shelter for a year., big fat and well smelly. My pretty girl is living the life . We moved to Denver and she has never looked back. She's 17 years now, slower, still fat, and enjoys many different locations to sleep.I am most thankful for her and this organization because without them, I would not have my girl Moxie.Thank youMichelle

I was walking into the establishment and the lady at the desk was VERY RUDE. The manager isn’t any nicer! When I asked why she was so rude she told me to “deal with it or leave!” I also witnessed animal abuse going on. When the dogs bark too much they beat them with a stick. When the cats meow too much they throw them across the room and slap them across their backs! This place is sick and should be shut down.

Great place to Adopt your Furever Friend. We were looking to Find a Kitty for Company for our other Kitty. He just lost his Friend of 18 years. We did find one and He now has another Friend. WE HAVE always had at least 2 Cats and now our Family is complete. Just as said the 1 that needed a Friend just passed away. That leaves us with just 1 Female very lonely. Now we are trying to find our Female Cat a forever Friend. We are going to keep trying at Saratoga Animal Shelter to find Her a Friend to keep Her Company. It might take awhile but we are going to Keep trying. This Shelter is Number 1 for us.

There’s this new scam going on at animal shelters around the world and this animal shelter participates on it! They STEAL dogs and CATS. Once they have them for 24 hours they legally are allowed to keep and put these dogs up for “adoption” which is just a plot to take people money! They must be stopped!

Avoid at all costs. We went ahead and reserved a an appointment to see two kittens. We were told that they were very shy before we got there. They were rescues that were clearly not ready to go with anyone; when you go to put your finger close to the kitten and it hisses at you, probably not a good sign. We were interested in a long-haired female, that was not "bonded" with any of the other rescues at the time. When we told the staff we would take that one, suddenly the other kitten that was bonded with another kitten, was now bonded with this one. The staff could not get the names right of any of the kittens that were in the rescue room.My wife was very excited about a male and female cat in the hallway area. We were told that the staff could not control them. They stated to us that they would not be recommended for kids. Sure. We then went to another cat, then another, met by excuse after excuse; one of these excuses was that the facility was closing in five minutes.I was then told that there was a waiting list for kittens, which is what my wife wanted. As I am standing in the line, I tell the same woman that I want to get onto the list and give them my information, so that they can contact us. I am then told that it doesn't matter, that they bring kittens during two days that week. So then why is there a list again? Though the staff had no issues with us filling out personal information on the way in. If you are in a rush, then do not work there.Bottom line: it did not pan out for the staff for what they wanted, then after that, they did everything to get you out of there. Absolutely subpar and just hypocritical to these agencies hoping to have someone adopt these poor animals. Absolute waste of time.

Dave and I are so happy to have adopted Mya. She is so sweet and loving and fills our hearts with happiness. All contact we had at the Shelter was caring and efficient and we hope many others adopt from here. Thank you Blake and Carley and anyone else whose name we don't remember. You love the animals as if they are your own.

They think they are God and can tell you which dog you can adopt. They were extremely rude on the phone when I finally got through and I hung up without an appointment. When we persisted and went in for the meet and greet we were turned away without a dog and are heartbroken. Wow, how will they get adult dogs adopted with this attitude? We went to another shelter and adopted a beautiful dog without all the attitude this shelter gave us. Sad.
