After a very long hiatus, I got the itch to get back into fly fishing. I’ve been meaning to visit this place for months but finally made the voyage this afternoon to Baldwin and it was well worth the trip from northern Queens. Within 5 minutes I felt like I’ve been going there for years despite it being my first time. The exuded patience, honesty, education and expertise was greatly appreciated. Can’t wait to go back to gain some more wisdom from Paul, the man himself! Stellar establishment and my kinda place ???

Decently stocked, old-timey shop and friendly, knowledgeable service. Fee based guided trips and seminars. Free scheduled meet-ups and occasional $35 picnic meet-ups. For fly enthusiasts, the only game in town but a decent one.

My experience here is nothing but absolute top notch. From customer service to knowledge of fly fishing. I highly recommend coming here to buy flys, rods, and reels. Both Paul and his son are true class acts and will always steer you in the right direction no matter your skill level of fly fishing!

Paul is the most knowledgeable fly fisherman around, whether you are pursuing trout or saltwater fish. He speaks about fly fishing on another level. He is also a great fly tier and has made me some special flies to my design over the years. This is a great store for fly fishermen.

I can't give higher praise to River Bay and its proprietor, Paul. After 75 years of fishing I was intreaged with fly fishing so I made a visit to their store in Baldwin. I had a great friendly chat with Paul who, notwithstanding my total lack of experience with fly fishing, invited me to join him and a few regulars at a local fishing venue that night. Arriving at the spot, Paul invited me to stand by his side and gave me the why and how of what he was doing. He even turned over his outfit to me for a mini lesson. Unfortunately, I determined that my age and disabilities evoked too much pain for the physical activity involved in fly fishing while standing.Thanks for your generous offer and help Paul. I really appreciated it. If you are thinking about beginning fly fishing, a visit to River Bay is a must.

Best fly fishing shop on Long Island. Paul is extremely knowledgeable and treats all his customers like friends. He has a group of guys that hangout at the store telling stories and tying flys. What a place!!
