NOTICE TO ALL PEOPLE WITH HAIR: I (most regretfully) went to GIRASOLÉ for a cut the other day. Now this is where I’m a moron. I had been there a couple of times before, after checking out the website. It looked good. price range…proximity …pictures of sample cuts…(and my all encompassing love for sunflowers. You know, Important stuff like that.) The first time I went, I saw a “Master Stylist. Pretty exciting right? The stylist I went to (in WOODBURY) before the pandemic, selfishly decided not to come back afterwards.? She was AMAZING! (Like if there was a “Hall of Hairstylists” museum, she would have a whole exhibition of her own!) Over the years I followed her from Huntington to Cold Spring Harbor and then back to Woodbury. (I’m nothing if not devoted) Well, The Master at Girasole went to work fabulizing my hair. All I wanted was some nice long layers. I have fabulous hair (if I do day so myself ?) and my former cuts were so amazing I probably haven’t put styling products in my hair for years. The Girasole Master stylist cut my hair like she knew what she was doing. (Good sign, right?) She blew it out and it looked nice-ish. I know that stylists don’t always nail it first go around. So no biggie. I can give myself a fabulous blowout. So the next day I washed it and started blowing it out. It was like she just mimed cutting my hair. Same length, same overgrown layers, bank balance $65 smaller. Ok. I try again a few months later. Same girl, more pictures, same outcome. So I’m done with her. Maybe she’s not for me. Next up I try someone else. She was nice and seemed (again) to know what she was doing. Snipping away to put the texture I wanted in my hair. I brought the same pictures annnnd got the same result. Girasole’s patented imaginary layers. My hair had gone another invisible transformation! (My imaginary friends liked it, but I think they were just being polite)
As you can imagine I loved giving $65 (plus tips) away for no reason. I went home and immediately put a wooly cap on and started looking for another Salon. I hadn’t managed to find one in time for a function, so I rolled the dice on Girasole one more time, and came up SNAKE EYES! This time the girl who cut my hair took well over an hour to do it (my style is a 30 minute job from start to finish. Always has been) This time I brought SEVERAL pictures of what I wanted. And kinda walked her thru it a bit. I now have hair that seems to be sorta layered on one side, and on the other side the layers look like Jodi Foster when she lopped off all her hair in The Accused. They are shorter and stick out instead of being softly layered to blend in to the lower layers of my hair. (S**t…I’ve seen tutorials of it online and it doesn’t seem all that difficult) So I flushed $65 down the toilet…kicked myself for my misplaced benefit of the doubt and will probably burst into tears anytime I see a sunflower! ?
I have however found my silver lining! I can post this review in about 18,000 different places. Some can be removed, some not. But I’ll tell you this much. I gave a review of my Dentist office on Yelp and have already lost him NINETY-EIGHT potential clients. (And those are just the ones who reacted!) No more benefit of the doubt with me. If you suck, I will happily do my civic duty to make sure all of Babylon doesn’t end up looking like the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz! Or a toothless hobo standing next to a 50 gallon drum that’s on fire and enjoying beans he’s eating from an old boot!

Sara, if your business can be ruined by a couple of posts by ONE person voicing their opinion then it must be hanging on by a thread. I went back more than once because I had never been there before and gave the hairstylists the benefit of the doubt, hoping that it might just take a few times to build a rapport about what I was looking for. The girl I went to for YEARS wasn't the first one I went to at her salon. The usual girl moved to Florida, so I chose to go to the Salon OWNER to see how she was, and she nailed it in one! And even then I hated the way she would blow out my hair. I would come home fix it myself, and love it to the point where I wanted to call her and thank her for such an awesome cut! After a while I didn't even have to tell her what to do. She took me from extremely long to super short and back again. Fun highlights, the most up to date styles AND eventually started blowing my hair out like a rock star! As for the last stylist I had Girasole, she was as nice as can be...even gave me a nice head massage, AS SHE WAS WASHING MY HAIR. I know sometimes a stylist will wash and style because of staffing or time restraints. Maybe she's a trainee? Either way she's not listed on your website at all. It took an HOUR to cut my hair which was a completely rudimentary long layers style. I even brought a dumbed down picture of the cut I wanted, figuring at the least I'd get a decent trim. Her hands were shaking as she was cutting, the poor girl. (Ironically she blew it out very nicely) Yelp has never taken down a post from me. It was your salon that did. I never mentioned the names of who cut my hair because I was trying to be polite. As the owner I didn't feel I needed to extend that courtesy to you or your salon. Same reason why I posted under a nickname my mom gave me. "Show myself?" Who are you, the Wizard of Oz? I'm not sure where you get the idea that I'm running all over town, trash talking every place I've ever stepped over the threshold. You and my dentist. As for my dentist, The OWNER called me, invited me in to discuss why I was so disappointed and took the time to explain each aspect I mentioned, and now comes in to check on me at each visit. The dentist herself has also taken the time to make sure she optimizes the time needed, and not rush thru the procedures. Problem solved! When I am done with all the work, I will repost how awesome they were about the whole situation. And they will have a very well earned $14,000. I shall now click my heels together and wish myself away from the very angry salon owner behind the curtain. Grow up lady and just take it on the chin. I'm only one person...I doubt I put a huge dent in the floor traffic of your very disappointing salon.

Everyone is super nice here so I always enjoy getting a touch up monthly. I see Jess B. for cut and color. She is amazing and so fun. We have done quite a few different looks over the years from platinum huge money pieces and a cool, dark blonde to red with bangs. I always trust her! Definitely recommend!

Love everything about this place. The staff is wonderful, the facility is clean. I use Danielle for coloring and would recommend her to anyone and Lindsay cuts my hair perfectly each time.

Lisa is absolutely amazing! HIGHLY recommend for color (especially blonde). I get so many compliments on my hair. I would never let anyone else touch it. She is the best around!!! She is also the sweetest and funniest person. I always look forward to my appointments.

I have been coming to this salon for years. I cannot recommend Lisa enough for color, cut, highlights, keratin, she does it all! I always get compliments on my hair. I have sent so many people there. All the girls are so nice. It's a really great atmosphere!

We usually have an excellent experience at Girasole, but unfortunately today was not that in the slightest. My girlfriend went there today extremely excited to get a color and cut, but left feeling belittled and defeated. The hair stylist was very rude and stand-offish and told my girlfriend that she was unable to get the haircut she wanted because of "poor maintenance." This is completely untrue as my girlfriend usually goes the same amount of time to get her bangs cut. Her bangs were cut unevenly and way too short for what she asked for. Given that this is her usual spot, she feels like she can no longer even go back.

Biggest tightwad rip-offs I've ever seen in the salon industry. Cant keep an employee for longer than two months and essentially charge by the minute for a low quality service. These people think what they have to offer is unique and valuable- you can get better service for 1/3 the price and you won't be disrespected by girls that are burnt out on life the entire time. Entitled scammers. Watch that these girls don't start working at medical spas doing Botox injections soon- which is where this rip-off industry is headed. I wouldn't be surprised if they already do.
