This used to be my go-to supermarket when I lived in Astoria. Would you believe me if I said the refrigerators are the same ones that were there in the 90s? If you don’t believe me buy a gallon of milk and see if it’s drinkable in two days. Wayyy over priced as well. They are selling a small box of cereal for $9! This is price gouging and should be investigated by the attorney generals office. This place sucks

Nice selection, not bad

As other reviewers have mentioned, staff here is extremely rude.Prices are astronomically high and just ridiculous. Most things aren't priced right in the first place or just don't have a price displayed. A lot of moldy produce and the smell of rot in the area is pretty alarming. My husband needed a price correction on an item, and the cashier just shrugged her shoulders and said, "oh well, that's the price". He was buying two jug type chocolate melting pots, one was obviously bigger than the other but the cashier just rang it in as the "big" one's price for both. When questioned she said he could go back and get another of the same size, when he mentioned those were the only two they had she just stared at him.Close to home, but definitely won't be back.

They have been renovating, but I have found there to be a foul odor in this grocery store. They also have a security guard and have to “check” your bag when you enter the store. The check out line is also very chaotic.

You couldn't find a ruder group of cashiers and managers clustered in one store in the entire New York City, even if you tried! You can forget about getting any help with anything at this store! Cashiers will shout at you and talk to you as if you are an animal. My cat has more manners than these buffoons! Has anyone trained these people for Customer Service skills? The store is filthy, unorganized, and expensive. Their security guard at the front door is a joke! He lets people with 4 bags of groceries in the store without checking their bags in, but then stops one person with one bag of grocery?! Stupid is as stupid does! And they have the audacity to say this is a store policy! Is it? Really? Then the store policy should apply to everyone! After the terrible way I was treated at this store today, I am taking my business somewhere else after being their customer for over 20 years. Shopping experience at this store is all around stressfull and it is not worth returning! This store is absolutely atrocious in all aspects!

I have been shopping at this store for twenty years. I was stopped by a security guard at the front door and told I needed to check my bag. The bag was the size of a bottle of soda and contained one 20 dollar vape. I was told I could not enter. The manager told me he didnt care and not to come back. Now this is all well and good. You can say they are only following rules except...about two months ago on my way home from work I decided to stop in and pick up a few things I needed. While I was shopping a gentleman decided to start following me around the store asking for money. He followed me to the register and proceeded to follow me down ditmars blvd shouting threats and obscenities behind me. If it wasn't for one of my neighbors coincidentally coming out of the deli on the corner of my block to scare him off I would have had to deal with an assault. Why did the security guard and the three or so employees who were watching this man at the register not do or say anything? I find this highly offensive. Doing all of my shoppig at the berry berry store from now on. Your manager needs to be fired.

Horrible! How do you ask people that commute with bags to leave them at a wide open front door! If your worried about stealing hire security and have the receipts checked. But to claim you're not responsible when the bag goes missing? Straight disgusting behavior.

I faced discrimination at this location. I went in tonight to buy some groceries. I've been coming to this Trade Fair for decades. By now I must have spent thousands of dollars since it's been that long. I also purchase stuff for delivery quite frequently. Since I was on foot, I stopped at another store first and bought a couple of items. Then when I arrived, I grabbed a small shopping cart at Trade Fair, put my bag with said items in the lower compartment since I planned on putting my groceries on the top compartment and then pay. As I walked in, the security guard stopped me and demanded I show him what was in my bag. This was ludicrous, I asked why and he kept insisting to see what was in my bag. I showed him and I had some scallions in there that I bought at an organic market. That's the whole reason I put that bag on the bottom shelf of the cart, I didn't want to be accused of anything. HE TOLD ME I COULDN'T GO IN.This was so insulting. I have never stolen anything anywhere in my life. I grew up here. I rely on this grocery store for food and now I've been made to feel like I'm not welcomed there. I'm now left to go search for groceries somewhere else. For people with a car, that's not a problem, you can drive from store to store buying whatever you need but that's not my case. I am beyond upset and will never go back there.

They make you leave your belongings by the entrance while you shop. Funny how we can’t be trusted with our own things but we’re supposed to trust a store clerk/“security guard.”

I don't buy ANY meat at ANY TRADE FAIR, except from the Deli Department. The employees behind the deli counter are way too laid back with their dismissive attitudes. I LIKE my deli meat sliced VERY THIN, ALSO referred to as "shredded." The employee says, "yes, o.k., I will shred the meat." Then I get home and the meat is sliced SUPER DUPER THICK.Employees need to be properly trained on the slicing machine and if that employee refuses to properly perform his/her job, show that person the front door. Customers don't need employees to have wise guy attitudes.

Poor quality produce and meat. It will get you out of a pinch. Smells strongly of wet dog inside.

Open 24/7 how can you not like Trade Fair? Although it is smaller than others, it has a wide variety of goods. Most of its sections, like meat and produce, are small, but it still has a deli, baked items, the whole 9 yards for a quick one-stop shopping experience. A decent beer and snack section, along with European, Middle Eastern, North African, and Latin American imports and spices, allow shoppers to create a number of meals from their products. The staff, although often busy trying to keep the place stocked, are helpful. The price point is around average for Queens.
