the salespeople are liars. they claim that you can cancel at any time by letting them know you want to cancel. they make you send certified mail to a PO Box to cancel. nobody contacts you and you need to follow up. i sent my certified mail a month ago and they havent cancelled my membership yet. they say only "upper management" can cancel. there is no way to contact upper management. what a terrible experience. 0 out of 10 - deceptive sales pracitces and horrible people to work withg

BEVARE they say that it’s a month to month agreement, but you have to sign the membership cancellation 2 months in advance. You will be charged an extra month. Also terrible attitude at the front desk, always mansplaining something and waving hands. Scammers

so what happened i went to check out this gym then there was a guy he kind of tricked me to do the membership.He said it was only $28 so i did that and if i cancel before 13th of any next month there will be no charge, and i did that too but they still charge me for next whole month which doesn’t make any sensei cancelled cause the gym is so dark the instrument are not arranged so confusingwhat i feel overall not goodtotally bad

Hidden gem of Astoria, best gym I’ve been to in the neighborhood. Very friendly staff and friendly gym culture. Well maintained machines and equipment. The gym itself is very clean as well. Even if the gym is busy it’s not much of a wait for a machine. I was able to cancel with no issue as I was moving out of the neighborhood with management being very helpful. Highly recommended!

09/02/2023 Synergy Fitness, Merrick NY. I was misinformed by 2 employees at Merrick NY Synergy Fitness regarding the cancelation policy. I was 6 days in to my membership and was very up happy with the cleanliness of the whole facility especially the locker room/men's room. I was told i would just have to tell the reception desk, even by phone call, that I wish to cancel my membership and my request would be granted. I went to the Merrick NY location in person to cancel my membership and was told i would need to mail a certified letter to their corporate location requesting cancelation. They would not take my request in person like i was told by 2 employees. I left my contact phone # for the person who signed me up or a manager (non on duty at the time) to call me to rectify this situation. Lets see if i get contacted? Either way i will follow up on YELP.

I've been charged over $50 for the membership thinking it was a 24/7 fitness club ! But it's not the gym closes on the weekends overnight after midnight! Don't fall for that lie like i did ! Hope this can help someone to make a decision in the future .

I’ve never seen an employee address everyone by name until now, lots of kudos to him for his outstanding service. Overall, a well sized gym that’s mostly not too crowded, sometime might get a bit warm, but that’s expected in the summer

John was incredible in helping me get set up and Alina has been a fantastic trainer to work with. I highly recommend this gym if you are on the search or would like to make a switch. Friendly vibes, caring staff, good equipment. Worth it!

Great gym with great staff! Rodriguez was amazing and friendly, he helped me sign up for my membership and provided very detailed, transparent information about policies and everything. He always says hi to me everytime I go to the gym, as well as other staff members. Love it here

Joined this gym for a year membership and it took my roughly another year for them to figure out my membership ended after continually charging my card. It was such a waste of my time. As for gym itself it's barely adequate at best. But for anyone thinking of joining, do yourself a major favor and DO NOT pay for a membership and only pay the drop in rate - if you feel compelled or go there.

Synergy is the best gym in astoria! The staff is friendly and will always greet you and make you feel welcome. They are clean and have great equipment. I definitely recommend this gym im the neighborhood for a reasonable price! 10/10

I joined a week or so ago. I see other low ratings because of some issues while canceling. I worked for a cable company long enough to know that people generally don't understand prorates and billing cycles, so I can't speak on that but I have had a good experience so far. 24 hours a day on weekdays, not crowded, people aren't looking at you making you uncomfortable, and the staff is friendly. I have practically been living at that place for the past week. Great environment for beginners since people won't be breathing down your neck. Just pick your machine and go at it. There is a feeling of privacy that I didn't expect from a gym. If I realized how easy going and private it would feel, I would have started here years ago.
