My child recently completed the Serious Fun Musical Theater Summer Camp. In this camp, he was involved with all aspects of putting together an original musical theater production. He had a great time, and learned a lot while working with his fellow students and the wonderful teachers and staff. He couldn't be more proud of the musical theater production they all created together, and that families got to attend at the end of the program (the production was fantastic!) Thank you Serious Fun, COMPASS NYC and DYCD for providing such a quality program which keeps the children engaged, and allows them to express their creativity through acting, singing, dancing, writing, set and technical design and so much more.

Our child loves Serious Fun afterschool so not sure why so many bad reviews. The reviews are pretty old. Our child always gets the bulk of her homework done and she actually looks forward to afterschool!! Thank you Serious Fun, you are a godsend! Ms Sala is super attentive and keeps us updated all the time!

This place can even pass the bar for terrible afterschool care. As the only choice offered in our school, we are forced into coercing into negligent and borderline dangerous behavior towards kids, such as not allowing them to go to the restroom or do their homework, or being yelled at for asking to eat their snacks or for simple things like asking for a piece of paper. The staff is not only completely incompetent, but they supplement it with rude and unhelpful behavior. Everything about this place screams "we DO NOT CARE about your kids". If you can, save your kids by being mistreated by these people at PS85Q.

This after school was not good. My son used to come home without his assignment done. He told us that they usually were just playing. He did not want to continue doing it next school year..

This is a terrible program that has monopolized the after school programs offered inside Astoria schools. The quality is beyond dismal with no educational value for kids or effort done by staff. They are just physically present for kids for legal reasons, but that's it. They don't care to offer any enrichment, don't help or ensure homework is done, and simply take advantage of affiliation with school administration that offers them operational space inside the schools. My child dislikes the program so much and cries every time I pick up. I really hope that they get replaced by something more decent soon.

re: PS 85 homework didn't get done, it didn't seem like the kids were not under control, it is crazy loud in class and resembles absolute mayhem more than anything else. Pulled our kid out after first month, beware of a hefty bill (cancellation fees etc)! My son started crying in the morning when he found out he had to go, we didn't feel comfortable with the program so...lesson learned, invoice coming. good luck

My son loves the classes he takes- especially clowning and thanks to Allergic to Salad he is learning to discover new foods- for example, he knows and like ground pepper! The staff is caring and nurturing, and the price is affordable (at $20 a Day!)
