My name is Aaron Gershkovich. I am 10 years old, I’ve been surfing at the Skudin surf camp in Rockaway for three years now. And you should send your kids here too.On a standard day campers split up into 3 groups by skill level red, yellow, and teal. After we split up into groups we warm up by doing stretches and then relay races with our colors. After we get warmed up we start surfing. The experienced group/teal paddles out and surfs until lunch. The instructors pick a group (red or yellow) to go in the water first, while the first group is surfing the other group enjoys a beach game like dodgeball, tag, and soccer for half an hour, then they keep alternating every half hour until eleven thirty when lunch is. Lunch is thirty minutes, and then after lunch they go on the land for half an hour and then switch again. At the end of the day the rockaway skudin camp director Jeff Anthony talks about the day and what happened in the water like if someone caught a big wave or did a cool trick. My favorite part about the camp are the instructors. All of them are really nice and very experienced. The instructors will help you get better, and they are very patient. There are special days throughout the week. The first thing is that on Wednesdays kids will receive a free t-shirt, and on Fridays kids will have one or two slices of pizza for lunch, also at the end of the day prizes are given to the person with the best wipeout, best wave, humble hawaiian, best listener, and most improved. You should definitely check out Skudin Surf camps! (there are also classes for adults)!
