Least helpful hardware store ever. Without fail, a disappointment.

While visiting the Hamptons they charged me for a propane fill up, despite not having a propane tank with me. They refused to credit me the charge

I recently visited Amagansett Hardware with my friend who relies on a service dog. Our experience was deeply disheartening and left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected.Upon entering the store, we were abruptly informed that no dogs were allowed, by a person who we presume to be the owner. Despite our service dog being well-behaved and clearly identifiable, the owner claimed that "his dogs were there" and enforced a rule of no other dogs, regardless of the law. This discriminatory and exclusionary attitude was both shocking and disappointing. As we tried to explain that the service dog was essential for my friend, we were met with rudeness and hostility. As we couldn't really enter the store, we decided amongst ourselves not to give the store our business, and the owner's response, telling us to "kiss his ass" as we left, was completely uncalled for and displayed a complete lack of professionalism and empathy. It is essential to note that businesses are legally obligated to accommodate individuals with disabilities and their service animals. This encounter not only violated those obligations but also exhibited a complete disregard for inclusivity and respect towards individuals with disabilities.I strongly urge the owner of Amagansett Hardware to educate themselves about the rights and needs of people with disabilities, as well as the laws protecting them. Furthermore, a sincere apology and a commitment to change their discriminatory practices would be a step in the right direction. As a result of this deeply disappointing experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend Amagansett Hardware to anyone. I implore others to consider supporting businesses that prioritize inclusivity, respect, and equal treatment for all customers.Alternatively, just a short drive away is the Hardware store in east Hampton. They're much nicer and much more accommodating.

The store is amazing in how many products it Carrie’s and how helpful the staff are at solving specific problems. Very convenient and great hours.

I was looking at sweatshirts when the shop clerk accused me of stealing a candy bar (referring to my wallet that was very clearly sticking out of my pocket.) He then attempted bumblingly to explain himself without ever actually apologizing to me about accusing me of something I did not do. Then the man at the cash register could not have cared any less that I was waiting to buy something, he just chatted away to someone until finally deciding to ask me if I was ready to check out (after clearly having been ready and stood in front of him for 5 minutes)

Shopped as an out of town guest (tourist). Very friendly service and local information. Even though fairly busy. Took the time with our questions and needs. Enjoyed our experience. Felt confident in our purchases and information given.

Clearly there are many people who did not have as good of an experience as I did, which is unfortunate. I stopped in today while in the area to pick up a couple of items and found what I needed easily, with help from the owner. The prices were a bit high, but this is a good location and easy to get to without sitting in traffic on 27! I was also happily surprised to see that he had his two pet Shetland Sheepdogs behind the checkout counter with him. They were so well-behaved that I did not notice them at first. A guy with two sweet dogs in his shop cannot be that bad...

The owner of this place made a key for our car that did not fit the driver's side door. When we told him he refused to remake the key because he said the key did fit the passenger side door and we could crawl over! We asked for our money back. He said no, and angrily banned us from the store. The other reviews describing this guy as disturbed are accurate.

Do not go here. The owner is rude and unwelcoming. I love to support small businesses but went in twice and both times he was awful - he doesn't seem to care at all if you go in or not!

always rude— reliably. Totally checked out. It’s understood by many to drive ride by them to go to East Hampton instead. Not that they are perfect, but a whole lot better.
