Terrible company only cares about the money. I rent an apartment from carpenter village and told them the called the rental and property manger a few times about upstairs neighbors being really loud throwing the ball all night waking up my children. pleasant To speak to but never called me back. So I called the company and asked to speak to a person higher up then them the receptionist laughed and said hahah the president of the company won't talk to you. I was very baffled because the president is a person just like us why can't he talk to me about his apartments. terrible and very unprofessional she then said "I am not a therapist" and hung up the phone on me

This was a nice place to live (2 years). The staff is quick to respond to issues. The parking lot is well maintained during the winter months. I had no issues with noise or neighbors. My favorite feature is the storage space in the basement. it was large enough for me to keep tools and several extra boxes of miscellaneous stuff.

EDIT: I left Carpenter Village after three years living there, and have spent some time reflecting on my time. I am downgrading my review from 5 stars to 2 stars for the following reasons. 1) I lived in two separate units and had constant maintenance issues that were brushed off by the team. This included a leaking ceiling that lead to a water damage and hole in the bedroom ceiling, a dishwasher that wouldn't drain completely and lead to excessive mold growth, and lack of properly closing sliding doors that cause literal snow to build up inside the apartment bedroom. 2) There were multiple property managers during my time there with poor communication skills that lead to problems. The most frustrating of which was when I moved out during the move-out inspection the manager told me the apartment looked great and I would receive my full security deposit minus the fee noted in the lease. However, I did not receive the amount discussed back and the mailed paperwork said there were issues never talked about and I could have fixed myself to get my deposit back.I do stand by my statements that the residents were generally quiet and friendly. The pool was nice when open. And the snow-inside-the-apartment did lead to crazy high electric heat bills that were more than a 3 bedroom house. If the convenience of the location is ideal to you, then the apartments are fine. In my opinion, I have had a subsequent apartment that was equally convenient but more affordable and maintenance was far more helpful. I think that I was originally in denial when I wrote my review because I didn't want to believe I was facing these issues in my home._________________________________Carpenter Village is generally quiet and residents are friendly. The staff is kind and helpful. The grounds keeping team is prompt with snow removal and the accessibility of an on-site pool is amazing. Only downside was our unit has electric heat which can be tough with the big windows. My roommate and I renewed our lease because we were happy here. Would recommend!

Overall the apartments itself are nice you can raise a small family there , nice pool to use in the summer, and balcony off the bedroom is great, nice views BUT depending where you are located . I was in building 3 towards the rental office . Kaitlyn the previous property manager was nice in the beginning but as time went on she became unprofessional and by the 3rd year there Debbie replaced her. All was fine until my lease wasn't renewed because of personal reasons between Kaitlyn and I and of course they kept majority of my security. Pro : nice place to live Con: Management

Debbie is a rental manager at the Guilderland location. She is extremely unprofessional and degrading. I think she is related to the owner because she has an entitlement personality. She very confrontational and cannot speak well. Where do they get their staff. SMHD! I was living their property; they tried inflating the cost to prevent returning my security deposit. Stay far away from this company, they treat their tenants like trash.

*EDIT in response to management's comment. We only preferred a different building because of the constant, significant noise from neighboring apartments in our original building. We didn't want to move to a smaller, more expensive apartment, but we were left with no other option. Also, the issues were never resolved. Our heat never consistently functioned. Instead, the weather got warmer, so we no longer needed heat. I wouldn't quite call that a resolution. I write this review because I'm someone who reads and considers the input from other Google reviewers before picking a bar, restaurant, hotel, tourest attraction, etc. and I just hope I can prevent at least one person from making the same mistake my fiancé and I did by choosing to live here. Also, I find it suspicious that Carpenter Village has had so many 5-star reviews as of late! Much like the misleading response to my review, I suspect management is behind the recent influx of underserved praise for these terrible apartments.. which is nice segue into my original review:DO NOT RENT FROM CARPENTER VILLAGEAll of the reviews regarding the horribleness of the rental office/upper management, and the deplorable condition of the apartments themselves are spot on.First, we resided in Building 3, which we found out after we moved in, is a smoking building notorious for noise problems. The walls were so thin, we could hear our neighbors' conversations. Below us, we heard a dog barking all morning and day. Acknowledging that such a level of noise was unacceptable, Carpenter Village allowed us to move to Building 10, for an increase in rent up to $1,115 (even though we went from a two bedroom to a one bedroom with a den).Sure, Building 10 is a little quieter, but EVERYTHING has broken. When we first moved in, the apartment had not been cleaned. We found food under the bed and in the cabinets. Our AC broke in the summer, and our heat randomly stops working. This has been an ongoing problem for several months, but still has not been fixed. It is now mid-March, 2019, and the problem began in December, 2018. Our garbage disposal broke and leaked into everything we stored under the kitchen sink, the shower faucet broke and the water would not turn off, and the bathroom fan does not work. As a result, the bathroom and the area surrounding it are quick to smell of mildew. In fact, our clean clothes that come out of the closet or dresser drawers are often damp. Gross. The apartment has a fireplace, which looks nice, but it must be clogged; our apartment filled with smoke and set off the fire alarm the one time we used it. The toilet is not affixed to the wall, and all bifold doors in the apartment have fallen off their track at least once. Also, there is a small washer and dryer in the building, but each machine costs $1.50 and one dryer doesn't work. So we generally end up paying $4.50 per small load of laundry.I've lived in several rental communities in the capital region, and this apartment complex is by far the most expensive AND has the worst apartments.

Just moved in and the place seems great. Friendly and quiet neighbors, maintenance issues addressed immediately, and helpful office staff.

I am a current resident that resides in one of the penthouse apartments. My apartment is the size of a house!! I love my place and my doggie Bebe loves it here too. To have the pool, tennis courts and shopping plaza so close is absolutely amazing!! Our rental manager is just wonderful and is always smiling! I love it here and I plan on being here for a very long time!!!!

***Edited 7/3/19. It seems shady that this horrible apartment complex has seven new 5 star reviews in the past week after years of having a Google rating of below 3/5.ong review from a tenant who has lived here for too long.Starting off with a positive: I cannot say enough good things about the maintenance here! When our shower broke, and the water would not shut off, maintenance arrived within an hour to fix it (during off hours) - despite the rude woman who answered the phone during non-business hours. When our heat wouldn't work in frigid temperatures, maintenance arrived either the day the work order was created or the first thing the next morning. It was very helpful of them to do their best every time there was an issue with the heat (there have been at least 10 times the heat would not work during the winter). When the dishwasher became loose because it was not initially properly secured to the cabinetry, maintenance was there for repairs. When the main door to the building wouldn't shut, maintenance was there for repairs. When the air conditioning stopped working during a summer heat wave of 90+ degree weather, maintenance was there for repairs. When the garbage disposal broke, causing water to soak into my belongings underneath the sink, maintenance was there for repairs. When the bathroom fan broke and made a loud grinding noise instead of being a fan, maintenance was there for repairs.Maintenance has been amazing. Unfortunately, all of these issues fell within a 10-month span. More unfortunately, these issues all happened in one of the newest buildings.Management here is awful, and they do not care about you or your concerns. Despite paying over $1,100 per month, management here does not value you as a tenant. They treat you as an inconvenience. In conclusion, do not rent from Carpenter Village. Your fancy amenities are cheap and easily breakable (and they will break), and management does not care. Even the great maintenance team here cannot fix the cheap, rude, and apathetic management.

Carpenter village is a great complex. The apartments are a great price for Guilderland. I was asked to post a review because I’ve told katlin on numerous occasions how much I like it here. She does a great job running the complex along with the head of maintenance, Pete.

A horrible experience. Part of my kitchen ceiling bubbled & filled with water 12/22. Finally, it poured out on the floor. Note: upstairs tenants bathroom was over my kitchen & Maint said water was from the bath tub. 12/26 Call to maintenance and they came while I wasn’t home, cut out a piece of ceiling (that showed mold) and left it open. I had to call to tell them seal it in plastic due to mold. 1/1 it leaks again. 1/3 Maint comes in, says they fixed it, and sealed it. Same day 7:20pm leaks again. They looked again upstairs and said they fixed another problem. 1/24 leaks again & Maint opens it back up. 2/21 leaks again - 1/2 bucket. All the while, I was told not to call Maint on call because this problem is not considered an emergency - dirty bath water in my kitchen!!!! A real health concern. Called Alb Mgt 3/7, 3/8, 3/9 with no response. I asked for an email stating they had properly treated the mold before closing up the hole & received no reply. They offered me another apartment, but I had to pay for the move & they wanted me to sign an 18 month lease. I refused and tried to get out of my lease a couple months early. They denied my request & offered $150 off one month’s rent for the inconvenience. I moved out 7/1 - end of lease.Albany Management was mostly non-responsive & rude when they did answer (Laurie Crisafulli & Karen LaBerg) and they never called in a professional plumber to handle the situation.

Great place to live as other tenants I have met and the maintenance staff are so friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend living at Carpenter Village Apartments to anyone looking in the area.
