Such beautiful used books, some different languages, classics, beautiful and well cared for editions. I hear they also have an online database for their books that expand out of what they have in store

It's new but has it's act together. I found a couple of interesting reads there and will return to haunt the place again next time I'm in Albany.

Urban Aftermath is a great place to find new favorite books. They have vast selection of different genres. They also buy old books as well so might as well give them those you don't like anymore than throwing them away. I always trust Urban Aftermath whenever I'm looking for some books.

Urban Aftermath has been my favorite book stores to visit for years. The conversation with the owner & every employee that ever worked there has been great. The prices have always been reasonable & I guarantee you'll be back ;) Dj 250

Not a big bookstore but the selection of books is very interesting and the prices very reasonable. The street parking is very easy and there is a parking lot across from the store. Got several books there just 2 weeks ago.

I was a huge fan of this store. 70 percent used book store 30 percent garage sale. On my most recent trip I bought a couple of DVDs. Got home and went to put one in the DVD and it was a bootleg. Contacted store for refund and told no refunds Can't support a business that's going to exploit it's customers like this.

Wow...it's like some strange magical book emporium...I would expect a Harry Potter character manning the register. I, as a lover of old books, could have spent the entire day there perusing the incredible collection. This has got to be one of those things in the Capital District that you just won't find anywhere like NYC or Boston etc...if you love books, literature, and fascinating unique places head over ASAP. I was sweating like a pig when I got there after a work out at the Empire State Plaza...had I not been so inappropriately dressed and hydrated I 'd probably still be there now exploring. The young man working there also could not have been nicer and more helpful. A+

We had the opportunity to visit Urban Aftermath Books and I couldn't be more pleased with our visit. We were greeted by the shop owner Hassan and he shared the story of the business which includes the storefront, a warehouse and online operation. The storefront is Hassan's curated space and what a space it is! Surrounded by gorgeous books there is also an eclectic mix of toys, office supplies ie old staplers, and vintage vinyl.Hassan had also been building a poetry reading series that unfortunately Covid has ruined for the time being but hopefully he can start it back up later this year.I found it such a great place and Hassan is a wealth of knowledge, able to recommend a new author or book. I highly recommend stopping in and we will definitely be back!

WOW - What a Treasure! I had not heard of Urban Aftermath Books before the notice of a Yelp Elite Event. Unfortunately with COVID, and working from home I am not in the Hamilton Square area ever, even with Cheesecake Machismo right next door. Jughead and I went down on Saturday the 13th, during a day which turned out to be called Small Business Saturday Supporting (see other reviews). I put Urban Aftermath's address into Waze because I know of all the one-way streets in the area to make sure I got there with ease. It was no problem finding a parking spot there, and a short walk from where we ended up parking. First of all, the shop is adorable. I love these little basement shops where you feel like you are part of a secret group that meets under the stairs. Quickly after entering I realized this was not JUST a bookstore. There were treasures of all sorts, toys, records, art, and knick-knacks stuffed within the bookshelves that held the stories you grew up with, or always wanted to read. Hassan, the owner greeted us as we entered and gave us a little knowledge of his bookstore, and told us about what he does, and why he loves it. There is even a place that was used for poetry readings pre-covid, that I am looking forward to be used again. Jughead and I wandered the rooms and took a gander at everything - I even found a Chicken Purse, yes... that's right a Chicken Purse that I was tempted to buy for Sister Alphena Omega... and still might return to do so. Hassan had recommended a few books based on the Yelp Elite Event, but Jughead and I quickly found some additional ones that needed to come home with us. I two book set of The Divine Comedy that I needed to have, and Jughead found some Star Trek books, and something else that peeked his interest. There are many treasures in Urban Aftermath that I recommend hunting out for yourself. I am sure you will be really happy that you did.

I came here as part of a Yelp Elite event. I work nearby but had never noticed this place. In fact, even after I parked I didn't see it because it was night outside. However, upon discovering it I was warmly welcomed into a whole different world of books. I should say upfront that my favorite thing to do is lay around the house and read a train magazine. Reading is my passion, and also my career. I just love it. So, finding a bookstore like this is a really nice experience. His shop focuses on old books (old paper), and as such you won't find the newest releases here. However, it is well stocked and neatly sorted and likely is what a bookstore looked like 100 years ago. Also scattered around the place are records, old board games, Lionel trains, toy cars, and other such things to delight and amuse. I spent about 5 minutes talking with the owner and his reason for running the store is very thoughtful and interesting. I will let you ask him if you want to find out what it is, but I fully support it. I can't see how he makes a lot of money on his sales, as his prices were very reasonable. In addition to the free book and toy (thanks!) he gave as part of the Yelp event, I picked out two other books and a train toy that interested me to buy. It isn't the sort of place you would visit to a lot unless you collect the classics, but it is the sort of place you go to if you want to lose a half-hour and a couple of dollars and walk away with a couple of adventures and diversions in paper form. I highly recommend the place.
