Grrreendog Grooming and Spa
1434 Western Ave, Albany5 stars isn’t enough!! Sundance and her crew are amazing. We have been using their services for more than 10 years now and have watched them successfully grow their business which has just been amazing to watch. They care for your animals like they are their own. Their top priority is the safety of your beloved pet and the health of their skin, coat, and overall well-being. We have long-hair and thick-coat animals. They have saved many mats and prevented our pups from developing bad skin conditions as a result. As one would expect, spot-cutting mats leaves quite the hairstyle but it’s better than a full shave or irritated skin and we appreciate the careful and skillful work they do with these challenge coats. Also one of our girls is a tri-paw and they made this beautiful apparatus to help her stand and be more comfortable during her grooming (the dog is also lazy so it helps to keep her standing too lol). I can’t say enough wonderful things about these people and the business they have created. ❤️

Central Veterinary Hospital
388 Central Ave, AlbanyI love bringing my two dogs, a Pomeranian and a Boston Terrier. The treatment they receive here is incredible. As soon as we arrive, we are always greeted with a warm welcome by the friendly receptionists. The veterinary technicians are also very friendly and provide a clear overview of what the veterinarian will do during the appointment. During my dogs' last visit, the vet presented me with a plan of care and discussed the expenses and alternative options with me. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the care my dogs receive.

Pet Sitting & Training
Good Choice Dog Training
18 Railroad Ave, AlbanyMy partner and I adopted our first dog and decided on Good Choice Dog Training for obedience training. What a good decision it was! Alissa and Barb were absolutely wonderful. They are really focused on encouraging your dog to make progress at their own pace, without fear. For people who are new to puppy parenting and need instructors who are patient and kind, I would 10/10 recommend. We also looked at PetSmart but what’s better than supporting local, small businesses?!

Pets At Ease Pet Sitting & Boarding
555 Sand Creek Rd, AlbanyMeg is amazing, my animals absolutely adore her! I cannot begin to cover how amazing it is to have multiple animals & still be able to travel with no worries! That was not always the case. Being able to leave town with zero worries is a godsend. When I moved into the area, Meg was a referral from another pet sitter that knew Meg could handle multiple animals, work with any breed and she would not shy away from special needs. The fact that all my furbabies absolutely love her is just icing on the cake. The furbabies and I are the fortunate ones, Meg makes it easy for us.

Happy Tails Dog Training and More
Sand Creek Rd, AlbanyI recently used Happy Tails to help with training my puppy, and let me just say she is amazing! I ended up doing her puppy 101 program and the 2 week board and train program to continue working on my puppy’s skills. Both programs were awesome and I’m very happy with how they train at Happy Tails! When my puppy came home from the board and train program it was like he was a completely different dog, I couldn’t believe it. I was very nervous to send my puppy to the board and train program (as any dog parent would be), but the entire time he was there Sophie was constantly sending me pictures and texts about his progress and how he was doing, it made me very happy to see that my baby was being taken care of so well. Definitely worth the money and I highly recommend Happy Tails Dog Training. Picture attached is my boy placing on the scale at the vet!

897 Broadway, AlbanyAn awesome brewery with great food, known nationally for their IPA's. All their food is made in house. There is tons of seating but don't let that fool you, they do fill up quick. They have beer types for everyone to include dark, sour, light, IPA, cider and usually host guest taps. The food menu is pretty extensive and also have something for everyone. Iron Gate Cafe
182 Washington Ave, AlbanyMy family stopped for breakfast at Iron Gates Cafe while driving through Albany, NY. This little gem of a restaurant is hidden behind iron gates. Behind the gates is a cherry blossom tree to your left and a patio with outdoor seatings for warmer weather. There is also a back patio that I learned of later as well for additional seating guests who would like to have privacy but still be outdoor. We were immediately seated. Our waiter took our drink order and then came back later for the rest of our breakfast order, she did not rush us. Food came out relatively fast. We got to enjoy the scenery and my kids were given crayons to color. My husband enjoyed his breakfast burger. Who eats burger for breakfast? My daughter had the grilled cheese and French fries. She later admitted she only wanted it for the fries. So between the two of them, they had burger and fries for breakfast. My son ordered the mushroom and spinach omelette while I had the stuffed French toast with ham. We both didn't finish our dish. We ate about half of our meal. Both came with a heaping serving of home fries, while my son dish also came with an additional side of corn bread to top it off. My husband ordered an iced coffee while I had the matcha latte (which my daughter stole and drank all for herself) and a chai latte. The chai latte was better than the matcha latte. The matcha latte was overly sweet, perfect for my daughter. She drank every drop of it. The check came to a little over $100 for meals for four, and three drinks, plus tax and tip. It's definitely four stars for the amazing customer service and for the restaurant interior decor and atmosphere. I noticed that the dirty dishes were being handled within close proximity to the restroom area, literally in front of it. Not only was it very noisy but it also felt a bit unsanitary. I feel mixed about returning. 3.5 stars.

Albany Ale and Oyster
281 New Scotland Ave, AlbanyWe decided to try Albany Ale and Oyster House on a chilly, rainy Wednesday afternoon since we had to be on New Scotland Avenue for an afternoon doctor appointment. I'm so glad we did, and also happy we arrived just as they were opening because we were able to sit at the bar and visit with one of the owners, Mia. We tried a flight of beer opting for all pilsners, one each from Italy France, Czechia and from our own New York region; all tasty, just the right amount of foam and nice and chilled. I ordered the Beyond brat which comes with comes with kale slaw and honey mustard, crispy potato chips in a brown paper bag for soaking up the oil and keeping them crispy, and a mixed green salad with the best sesame honey dressing. I love good salads and this one was perfect, with dressing on each lettuce leaf. Mia said they take their salads seriously, and you can tell. My partner had the Reuben and he proclaimed it the best he ever had. Overall the taste, presentation and preparation of the food was perfect. Combined with the cozy atmosphere and the friendliness of the owner and all who work there; Albany Ale and Oyster House is now one of my top favorites in the areaVegetarian options: In addition to the Beyond Brat they offer Beyond Burger and some interesting salads.

I was just feeling so defeated and really needed some chocolate. I’m sure every knows what I mean. We left her shop feeling more uplifted and reminded that we are all doing the best we can. Thanks for making us laugh! Not all places can bring an atmosphere like this one can! I highly recommend this place. She is bringing more joy to the world everyday you can just tell!

Olivia's Cafe by Beez LLC
1450 Western Ave, AlbanyI think this place is under new ownership and in transition but the new folks are really friendly and the food is very good. I had a simple grilled chicken sandwich. It was prepared well and quickly and was perfectly balanced and very tasty. The standout feature was the hard role it was served on. It was soft, yeasty and much more memorable than you'd think sandwich delivery media has any businesses being.Parking: This place us inside an office building with lots of free parking and a traffic light controlling access to Western Ave. so you can get out without worrying if you need to take a left.
