Vet Mechanic: I arrived with my cat who, during my one month absence, had developed a golf ball sized growth in her throat. She had minor difficulty eating and breathing. She was immediately suspected to have cancer. After a quick sample test under the microscope it was stated she had final stage thyroid cancer. The only way forward suggested was chemo, and attempting to cut the growth out. I took her home, and treated her alternatively. Within two months the growth had completely disappeared! This was 1,5 years ago. She’s happy and healthy. Hope this inspires some people to find their own way instead of relying on outdated systems.

I recently moved our 2 dogs (one with recent surgery), and 3 cats to them. It took multiple appointments, and required them to talk with Doctors in a different state, and had to get all of the dogs lined up for teeth work. They were AMAZING!!! Incredibly knowledgeable, flexible, funny, encouraging….AMAZING!

If I could make this review a negative number, I would. Please read the entire review. I do reviews all the time, Ive had over 59 million people read my reviews, very seldom negative, this experience was extremely unprofessional and uncaring. They are one of the only Vets in the area, it's too bad there isn't many other choices to go to. We are on vacation and our shepherd was having issues. 12 hours from home so we did a search and found this place. I wish we would have read all of the reviews, we would not have came here due to the arrogant uncaring attitude present here. Several other people have experienced simular and some much worse visits here with this type of uncaring cold treatment We set up an after hours appointment for 5:15 on August 7. When Dr Dan Fitzsimmons came in the room, he didn't introduce himself just asked a few questions and began telling us what was wrong. She was having problems walking (long story) so we asked him to watch her walk. He didn't seem interested in seeing the condition. Finally he watched her walk down the hall. She has had an issue with her left back leg, very obvious. Two vets in our home town have documented the issue with her left leg. When he came back in the room he stated that he could see that the problem was her right leg. We said that it has always been her left leg. He then responded abruptly and sternly, "IM NOT GOING TO ARGUE WITH YOU, ITS HER RIGHT LEG!" Very egotistical, arrogant and rude. A professional person would have responded by stating in a professional manner, let me show you and explain why I believe there is an issue with the right leg. Presentation is everything. I tried to explain again about the left leg having issues, he interupted my sentence stating that he saw the x-rays from our vet. Stated that the x-rays were two years old. His demener was very poor, his attitude was horrific. Never before ever have we ever been spoken to or treated like this. The uncaring attitude was apparent. We do believe that there may be issues with both, but we still are doubting his ability because he stated that the issue was the right leg. Again, very obvious even with documentation that the left leg has issues and that was the main reason that we brought her in. He wanted to keep her overnight and do more x-rays to further investigate the issue, however; with his attitude, arrogant unprofessional presentation, there was no way I would trust him with any of our pets. On a good thought, his assistant, Dana, she was amazing. As we were leaving, she answered questions for us that Fitzsimmons would not take the time to address, she was patient, understanding, and explained things, like the professional, caring person that she is. We were there being seen for about 40 minutes.

Took my cat in a month ago for vaccines. She was sick after that but got better. Then she went downhill fast and took her in again. Not much done. Then it got to an emergency situation. I called and spoke to Brenda. Said she talked to the vet and the vet said cat should have blood work and first appt wasnt available for 2 weeks. I said what about the emergency situation now. Would not let me bring her in on an emergency. Said she would talk to vet and call me back. Never called back. 3 days later now and my cat is DEAD! I have had two other cats in this office. It is not like we are new clients. believe me I will not be back ! Salazar vet did take my cat on an emergency basis, but it was too late to help her.I see the vets office responded below. The vet recommended we wait on any blood work, which is what I was doing. But when I could see the cat was dying, No food or water for about 3 days, I explained this all to Brenda. But there were no exceptions made for an emergency. That is my point

My cat died today after they refused to let me bring her in on an emergency basis. I have been in their office before and had to wait while they took care of other emergencies! I was a client of theirs with 3 different cats, so why. You can never make the front desk understand and all they do is say how busy they are and no appointments for a couple weeks. Then said they would call me back and did not. This was after about 3 phone calls trying to being my cat in on emergency.

We had a great experience here. While in Angel Fire our dog got stung by something and it turned into a mess. The local vet in AF was away. We called Taos VC after hours and they waived us in. An hour later our dog was getting friendly, compassionate and professional care. Thank you. Highly recommended

Our vacay took an odd-ball turn needing us to visit both the Taos ER and a local vet in the same day. We were so blessed to be directed by some people at the Taos Holy Cross ER to visit Taos Vet Clinic. They were approaching closing time and they still welcomed us in as a walk-in with an urgent need for our mini dachshund. The Dr, his assistant, and the front desk staff were all a breath of fresh air and treated us patiently and quickly. We are fans for life and will always know we have a great place to go, if ever needed again, on our Taos vacay.

Taken a long time to write this review, but let me start by saying how much I loathe even driving by Taos Veterinary. Took my very senior dog to be euthanized a few months back and it was a traumatic experience to say the least. This place has no heart. While my wife and I sat on the ground comforting our boy, two men walked in, did not introduce themselves or even try to make my dog comfortable. They literally came in, hoisted him on the table without a word and started going to town. He even tried to nip at them he was so stressed out. What an awful way to die as these 2 piles of human garbage turned and walked without a word. Don't go here. I know there aren't many options, but this place is an awful place with awful people working there.
