“El Rincon Trading Post is magical. I sit and ponder how amazing Estevan’s (the owner and silversmith) grandmother Rowena and grandfather Ralph must have been in their time, How often they helped others face challenges, how hard they worked in the community where a business which helped many lasted way beyond 100 years. This is what their amazing grandson does still today from the historical stories he shares with others to the beautiful jewelry he makes. My beautiful turquoise jewelry which I wear everyday was all made by Estevan. I think everyone should go to El Rincon to meet Estevan, see his beautiful jewelry and feel the magical essence the trading post will leave with you.”

“Maybe our favorite place in Taos. Really interesting selection jewelry, trinkets, and beautiful art. All different price ranges. The owner was just the nicest, most helpful person. Bought a beautiful print and they shipped cross country very quick and carefully. Please spend some time, and money, to support them.”

“I had antique, Art Deco, opal ring with a chip and I knew from looking at Emily Ruffin’s designs that she was the only one I wanted to work on it. I sent it to her along with some other sentimental pieces to repair: a ring with sapphires and a ring with emeralds and diamonds. Emily explained everything to me very clearly about what she was going to do to fix the rings. Emily’s staff helped me with the shipping, which is a special process for insurance and safety. Everything worked beautifully, and as I imagined, the work was impeccable. I am now enjoying wearing my rings again and I feel safe knowing the stones are all secure. Plus, they look so pretty. Emily helped me choose a stone to create a new, unique mother’s ring with representing each of my three kids on one piece I can stack with my wedding rings. Quality of work: Five stars. Customer service: Five stars. Artistry/style: Five stars. Thank you Emily and team!”

“The shop lady was so kind and checked with the owners for me if a Christmas item was on sale. We had great conversation and I loved the couple of little cute things I bought! The baby section is cute. And of course everything is a little overpriced; it’s a touristy area.”

“I cannot give enough positive praise regarding this establishment. In business for 51 years! First time going here, and will not be the last. Went to purchase a sterling silver necklace for my pendent. The size I wanted was not available. I was then shown a catalog with the appropriate size. Ordered it, and 3 days later it was available. Beautiful! Please people think twice about ordering on line. Very personal , a perfect fit for my pendent. It was then suggested I have it modified for a better fit, at no extra charge! Also had several of my Swiss watch batteries replaced. The pieces of jewelry they have on display are nothing less than extraordinary! The artistry is spectacular. The people and service far beyond what I expected.”

“I bought a really cool amber bracelet from Touchstone this past summer. A fun little thing they like to do is show you how the amber glows under a black light. They have very high quality amber.”

“This store and the owner are fantastic! We found a necklace that we really loved but weren't able to make it back in before we had to leave town. The owner was kind enough to ship the necklace to me overnight delivery so that I could get it in time to give to my girlfriend for our anniversary. Thank you so much! Highly recommend making a stop here if you're passing through Taos!”

“While I've been in the Taos area off and on since 1976, I only found this gem of a shop in 2013. Having bought Native American jewelry in Taos, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque for decades, I know quality when I see it. Owner Khalil and his brother are incredibly knowledgeable and very nice. They work personally with the artisans, and can identify at first glance the maker of a piece of jewelry, without even checking the Hallmark. Their selection of jewelry, pottery, watchbands, and hunting knives is very good. Khalil will spend time with you, explaining the craftsmanship required for each style, and trying to find something that suits your needs and taste.”

“Let me start with, I am very much not an art person. I have a few token pieces around my house, but wouldn't consider myself to be into art. However. The paintings here have stayed with me on an emotional level I have never seen before. The beautiful mastery of nature and colors are absolutely unparalleled. Unfortunately I can't afford the pieces in the gallery, but I truly believe they are worth every penny.”

“I am blessed to have two hats from Mikel and his family and feel blessed that my head and heart crossed their paths. They are artists that care about their craft and it shows in the hat, in how I feel when wearing it (a million bucks!) and in the reaction onlookers have when looking at it! Thank y'all for everything!”

“The best store for jewelry and belts in Taos. The owner and his assistant were very friendly and explained the types of vintage belt that he carried and about the craftsmanship. My daughter left with 2 beautiful silver bracelets. Very welcoming, thank you.”

“Being a New Mexican in Florida, I’m always in search of a good authentic New Mexican salsa! Well, let me tell you, I’ve found it! ? I purchased two jars of the Salsa Roja! As advertised, it has a nice heat to it! I also purchased 2 of the peanut brittle (green chile and chipotle/cinnamon) Both were great! Fast shipping and I had no need of customer service! Highly recommended!”

“I am giving this five stars based on my experience and just a little bit of faith. The owner, Jennifer, is *delightful* to talk to and really seems to care about the customer. I learned in our conversation that she is part Hispanic and part Native American. The shop is located in a beautiful space in the Plaza, and the family-owned business piece of it is very appealing to me. I mentioned "faith" because I am not able to promise that every piece in the store is Native-made. Personally, I want to patronize Natives only when it comes to Tribal jewelry and art. The piece I bought is definitely "Native" made, however, upon searching online, the artist's story is that she's a successful businesswoman who's done many things, among them jewelry. No matter to me, she is Navajo by heritage and culture, and she did make my piece! I would definitely recommend trying this store first or if you only have time for a few shops. At least half the shops in the Plaza seem very touristy. This one is classy and, I believe, authentic.”
