“This hotel deserves the stars it has in the review. The rooms are affordable, large and clean. It would have been 5-stars, but I couldn't get the water as hot as it should have been. So, turn up the temperature on that water heater a little bit, and I'll give the fifth star next time I'm in town!”

“Now, I've peeked at some of the other reviews, some were on point and some were not, so let's dive in to my experience at this historic hotel and hostel.

First off, let's talk about the pricing for being pretty much in the center of downtown, very inexpensive. They run specials on Booking.com, and I must say for the price point, cleanliness and accommodations, this place is well worth it. If you're traveling for a few days and need somewhere affordable, clean, accommodating, with more than enough space, yes, I'd recommend Gardner Hotel for sure.

In the 1930s John Dillinger, the gangster and infamous bank robber, stayed at this hotel, and who doesn't love a good anti-hero these days. I arrived around the same time as his stay, which was January 9th, four days after my birthday mind you.

Although, I initially had a private room on my first night, left to go elsewhere closer to a meeting I had on the Eastside of town(in which I regret checking-in for a couple of days), I ended up coming right back to the Gardner Hotel, and was welcomed with opened arms, possibly the ghost of Dillinger's arms(lol). This time I had a Men's dorm room, which still wasn't half bad, although a little tight, I sleep well for a night or two before new roomies arrived. The shared bathrooms were clean and the young lady who was the receptionist on my first night, was also the housekeeper and she seemed to be on top of things. Very cute female staff...like all of them!

They have a laundry area, $3.50 to wash and $2.50 to dry, just a washer and dryer, 40min of time on each, so be patient in people are ahead of you(FYI). A kitchenette area for you to do your own cooking, with a fridge for food storage if necessary. You can receive discounts from the bars, Cafe Rose(which is next door) and The Pizza Joint(very good) which reside on the same block. There are great places to eat within a block or two. All in all, I was happy with my stay, and I will be back.

Also, just FYI, in the hostel dorms part of hotel policy is that you only can get rooms for 14 days a year, so be mindful of that. Other than that, you should enjoy your stay.

*Downside, broken elevator! So you may have to take the stairs. If so, travel lightly!”

“We had the pleasure of being served by Amada at Circa on Indigo, and she absolutely nailed it. She handled our large group completely on her own, no assistance, and did so with professionalism, efficiency, and such a great attitude the entire time.
Although we tried to inform the hotel team ahead of time that we would be a large group, unfortunately that didn’t seem to be taken into consideration. Despite being put in a tough position without support, Amada remained phenomenal from start to finish.
She truly carried the experience for us. Exceptional service like hers deserves recognition. Thank you, Amada, for going above and beyond!”

“Cheapest rooms in this part of the city. The room was older but cheap, clean and came with WiFi plus a smart TV. For the price it is unbeatable. Close enough to walk around downtown to restaurants and coffee shops.”

“I stayed one night here on June 28, 2025. This is one of the cleanest Motel 6's I've stayed at. I like that the rooms have laminate flooring instead of those stinky carpets. I had a good night's rest, and the A/C blew nice and cold.”

“Nearby activities: It is right near the University of El Paso, so it is a beehive of activity. As it is a university town, it is teeming with a variety of ethnic restaurants and eateries.

Safety: The hotel is luxurious and it is situated in a quaint university town.

Walkability: If you are young or physically fit, then like the university students, you can walk everywhere within a 1 mile radius.”

“This is my first time ever staying at quality inn, because my wife and my 4 daughters always stay at doubletree. Tatiana and I decided to come early before my wife and older sisters to go to wet and wild. We didn't have expect much from the quality in but because of Armando's hospitality I will definitely change my mind next time!”

“So the very first impression was questionable as upon entering the room there was a smelly stench. Me or my family couldn't think of what it smelled like except meat that is barely going bad mixed with a foot odor. Once the A/C is on it somewhat takes it down to tolerable slight stink which i didn't even notice after a while The inside of the curtains look dirty. They could just be stained but they look dirty. My son has a bad back and started to make his bed on the floor but could see that it hadn't been swept properly and some surfaces were dusty. Not to sound sarcastic but other than the stink and some slight eye sore damage i was comfortable and enjoyed my stay. The bedding was clean. There weren't any signs of bed bugs or other pests/ rodents. Plus most of the staff was great!
They have a continental breakfast every morning that consists of coffee, waffles and syrup, muffins, hard boiled eggs, bread with a toaster, raisin bran, and froot loops cereal, strawberry and vanilla yogurt, whole and 2%milk, apple and orange juice, butter and jam.
There is adequate parking, its well lit both out and inside.
The breakfast area and lobby are clean and there are couches to sit on with a big screen TV. And there is laundry onsite. Oh there is a small outside pool as well though it wasn't open during our stay. . Over all I enjoyed our stay, I think its a good option especially if you have pets and I felt safe here.”
