While visiting my folks in Santa a few weeks ago we took their Westie in for a cut. When they got her back her fur was pretty much shaved down to the skin on her back. She's been grooming their dog for years so my parents were confused by this sudden new reverse Mohawk cut. After reading the recent reviews of this place and seeing all the pictures of these poor wounded dogs I think it's time for my parents to find a new groomer and for this lady to hang up her sheers before she does any more damage to the dogs.

Trail of blood all over my house after my dog was groomed. Bleeding from undercarriage from reckless use of electric razor. Googling "how to get blood out of sofa fabric." Owner blamed us.

Seriously injured my dog. Second and last time going here. The first time, the owner left abrasion on the underbelly of my very sweet poodle but left it to me to discover at home. I have taken my dog to Petco for years, never an issue. Against my better judgement, I went back because Petco has shut its grooming operations and I was desperate. When the nasty lady/owner called and told me to pick up my dog, I asked "you didn't nick him this time, did you?" She hung up on me. She didn't nick him, she peeled his skin off like an orange rind.

My dog was butchered and maimed by owner/cranky old lady groomer. 3 cm thigh wound in left thigh into muscle. Dog refuses to walk. No apology, only yelling and accusations that I had waited too long to get my dog groomed. Legal action to follow.

They do an excellent job grooming my temperamental elderly Persian cat. They are professional and put my cat first. You can’t be mad at this facility when they do what is best for your animal and maybe not what you ask or prefer. I think several of the negative reviews are coming from that exact scenario.

I just had a HORRIBLE experience getting my dog groomed at this place. Please DO NOT GO HERE. I wish I had read the other reviews before entrusting my dog to the people who work at Wags of Santa Fe. What I observed was that they yell and scream at the animals there. While I was waiting for them to finish up my dog, Leo, the groomer yelled repeatedly at him (STOP!!!!! and LEO!!!!!). I could see her in the back room with the owner, and my dog was doing nothing wrong, just not standing completely still. The owner told me he had had diarrhea earlier, which isn't surprising if they were screaming at him, as he's already high strung (I had given him some trazodone for anxiety 2 hours before grooming to make the experience easier for him and the groomers). This was the third time I had taken him to this groomer. Previously I had just dropped him off and picked him up, and the grooming job they did seemed fine. Today when I dropped off my dog they were still working on another dog, but they told me to come back in an hour and a half, which I did. When I returned, the owner said they needed 20 more minutes and also that they had had a hard time with Leo because of the diarrhea and also because his coat was matted under his harness. I apologized and even booked an appointment for four weeks later to get his hair shampooed and dried, to prevent matting in the future. After the twenty minutes passed, I returned and was told that they still needed about ten minutes more. I decided to stay, but I got the distinct impression that the owner didn't want me to do that. As another reviewer mentioned, there is really just room for one person in the entryway, and there's no place to sit. In other words, they do not make it easy AT ALL for people to hang around. However, I felt compelled to stay because I had heard them yelling at the dogs in their daycare and I felt I needed to get a sense of how they were treating my dog. Even though I was standing in the entrance and could see and hear the groomer clearly, she yelled at my dog repeatedly, as I noted above. I can only imagine how she treated him when I wasn't there. After about 10 minutes I couldn't take it anymore and gestured for the owner to come over. With my own voice raised in anger, I told her I didn't care if they hadn't finished, and that I wanted my dog right away because the groomer was yelling at him. I pointed out that raising your voice with an animal is counterproductive, as she could directly observe at that moment because my voice had roused several of the dogs in daycare there. She left to go fetch my dog and after a few more minutes both she and the groomer appeared with Leo, who by the way had gotten an absolutely terrible haircut. The owner and groomer offered NO APOLOGY and showed NO REMORSE whatsoever. In fact, they were defense. The owner said she had owned and operated the place for 50 years. The groomer, likewise, said that she had groomed for 15 years and also that she can't hear out of one ear and so needs to speak very loudly (funny how she could hear me, fine, though, and also winced when the daycare dogs started barking). There's literally no excuse, in any case, for repeatedly screaming at dogs. I can understand getting frustrated, but you should have some coping strategies that don't involve taking your anger out on the animals in your charge. I don't care how difficult the animal is. From what I observed, yelling was their main way of communicating with the pets. I SAW NO KINDNESS OR COMPASSION towards the animals at all. I was livid by the time I got Leo, and I told the owner to cancel the next appointment I had made and that I would never take my dog back to their place ever again. I had obviously rattled her. She said nothing and she wouldn't take my credit card. I got out of there as fast as I could, took my traumatized dog for a nice, relaxing walk, and then donated the money I would have paid for the grooming, plus more, to an animal shelter. I'm appalled and disgusted at how poorly

Susan P., who now runs Wags since the previous owner is no longer there, groomed my 4.5 pound dog last week. She cut every single nail to the quick. My dog was traumatized. She did the same thing to my friend's dog the very same day. I can only imagine how much pain our pups experienced having their nerves sliced. She also cut her with the razor in 3 places (one of which is pictured here and it's infected already). I'm still in shock and feel hugely guilty for trusting Susan with my sweet little loving dog who is now curled on the couch and hardly moving. She may still be learning how to groom dogs and any good reviews you read here are obviously from the previous owner's time managing the place. Please don't allow your animals to be her test subjects. Also, definitely do not board your dogs here. It's mayhem and she yells at them to "shut up," even with customers around. I can only describe what I witnessed as willful or grossly negligent animal abuse. I called local agencies to report her and I hope anyone else who has a similiar experience does the same.

Yesterday we went to El Chile Toreado to grab some tacos. (Yum!) They are located on Early Street across the from Tiny's and I highly recommend them. We parked in the very large parking lot by Tiny's. As we (my mother and I) walked over to the food van, we were suddenly verbally accosted by the owner, maybe an employee of Wags Dog Groomers. This lady was insanely upset because of where we parked. She yelled, huff and puffed, yet we were nowhere near her small business, just in the same large lot. As I looked around I noticed the lot was almost empty with maybe 15 parked cars at other stores in the area. My guess is that the lot holds over 75 vehicles. Yet, this lady was upset that customers from El Chile Toreado were parking in the huge lot. Her anger was extreme. I looked over to Wags, in-front of the business there were about 5 open spaces. Yet, this woman was so unkind and selfish about the parking. The El Chile Toreado customers were not disturbing the business or any of the stores in the market. Yet this woman was going crazy. I could not understand, the anger and bad energy she was throwing at random people. Ok, if the lot was tiny and people were taking spaces away from her business, I get it. But again, the lot is huge. I have never seen this lot full. Why can't people just be nice and help each other out. Seeing her craziness, I would never trust her with my fur babies. I hate to say it, but I did wonder, was this woman just a racist...

TRIGGER WARNING: Abuse & Neglect REPORTED TO THE POLICE AND THE CITY!!THE OWNER NEEDS SERIOUS RE-TRAINING IN HER NASTY ATTITUDE. I recommend she seeks some therapy ASAP. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT take your dog here. The short gray haired women who owns the place is an ABUSIVE SOCIOPATH. This is the type of place you hear about on the news for extreme animal cruelty and abuse. This is the place of nightmares. I took two dogs in this morning, my cousins dog for a groom ( which turned out patchy and uneven), and my dog for a nail trim.I am from LA and have only taken my dog to TOP NOTCH vets to have her black nails trimmed because they are hard to see the quicks in the nails. I only went to this DUMP because it was close by my cousins house and her regular groomer was out of town.First off, the place looks and smells like it has mold and they don't regularly clean the dog pens. If you don't want a sick dog, AVOID.Secondly, this women has ZERO EMPATHY -- COLD AS A DEAD FISH.The second I walked in she was non communicative and just roughly YANKED my dog by her collar and DRAGGED her into the room to cut her nails. On her way she violently screamed "SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP" to all the dogs she was dog sitting. Zero patience. I shudder to think how she behaves when people aren't around. 5 minutes later she returned with my dog and I notice my dogs paw has blood on it. I turn to my dog and gently say "poor baby, its going to be ok." THIS MONSTER whips her head towards me and gives me a dead eyed evil stare and says, "STOP BABYING YOUR DOG."I go, "umm, excuse me, this is MY DOG, she is MY FURBABY."Evil Sociopath: "I have worked with dogs for 40 years, this is why your dog is the way it is." -- WHICH WAS HER EXCUSE FOR MY DOG BEING TERRIFIED...and EXCUSE ME YOU SATANIC B*$*H, YOU MADE MY DOG BLEED BY CUTTING HER NERVES!SEE PHOTOS.Edit: In response to Susan's reply. My dog TOFU has never bitten anyone. I was standing right there when this happened and could see into the window. Classic sociopathic behavior to lie.My husband owns several restaurants in town and we are telling EVERYONE who comes in with a dog about you! We already met one women tonight who was in tears and said you damaged her dog two weeks ago as well. You will hear from us. YOU MIGHT BE FILING FOR BANKRUPTCY AGAIN SUSAN PTECKA. WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

Don’t do it! My dogs (poodles) were butchered! She shaved their ears and face. The head had no shape whatsoever. Poodles shouldn’t look like this. When I picked up my pets they were trembling and shaking. The Owner was screaming at customers and pets. Don’t allow your dogs to be abused by this person. This was the worst grooming experience of their lives. Clearly this women hasn’t the experience or temperament to be working with pets.It should also be noted this woman has horrible reviews on all the major sites and always there is an excuse for her behaviors. In response to her butcher job she said shaving the ears was “humane”. There is zero humanity or compassionate about this lady. She also said that this was a standard poodle face. I beg to differ. There is no shape to the job. She was simply too lazy to comb out the dogs properly. She SCREAMED at me for opening her gate. Yes, there was a sign saying do not enter, but my dog was whimpering and crying. There was no other animal in the pen with her. I simply wanted to scoop my pet up in my arms because she was trembling. In hindsight, the owner started her screeching long before I saw the hack job. She was clearly already on the defensive. When I rang her back to say we would be stopping payment she said I should do just that. She KNOWS she did a rotten job. This woman has the humanity and compassion of a rabid pit bull. Everything about her character exudes hatefulness.Again, unless you are up for a rash of abuse for yourself and pet, don’t step foot in this hell hole. My family and I are traumatized. Just don’t do it!

A PHONE call would have been in order. These dogs are groomed every six weeks and the ears were not matted to warrant a shave. The saved face with a shapeless hair cut looks hideous. And the ABUSES- all the SCREAMING!! I feel so sorry for the dogs boarded there. Again, the place of business is nothing short of a HELL HOLE.

owner was unprofessional and condescending. I walked in on her screaming at the dogs in her care and then proceeded to talk rudely about the client in front of me after she left. after reading other reviews this seems like the usual experience here. I won’t be returning and don’t think loudly screeching at other peoples animals is acceptable.

Worst service ever!I have a small yorki mix and they said it would take an hour which would cost $70. We came back and they were still grooming him, the staff is so unorganized, I saw the older lady screaming at my day and at the workers, they tell me that it was going to take 30 more minutes, so we have to wait and when they bring my dog outside she says that my dog had bit the groomer, we’ve never had issues before of this kind and the aggressive attitude the old lady had didn’t help much. They did a poor grooming job for $70 dollars and they have the worst staff, definitely will not be coming back and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE!

I help care for two older standard poodles and have been bringing them to Wags for grooming for several years. Stevie was great, and she is missed. The new groomer is wonderful however, and does a great job. Now I am also using Wags doggy daycare services, and it's a lifesaver. Thank you Sue and staff for your great customer service, clean place, reasonable rates and being so attentive to the pup's care and well being.

I was able to get a same day appointment so that was very exciting for me. My little girl was way overdue for a haircut and when I left with her she was just beautiful. It's the best cut she's ever gotten. A little spends but I can do without having my nails done for a week. I'll definitely come back
