Good selection. But never open when I've come, during posted hours. Much good a nice selection does when I can't purchase anything!

When I asked about PFM, the poor old lady literally clutched her pearls and with a rather smug amusement told me "dear, any of these can be pens for men!"

You write or draw by hand? You’re beautiful and rare. This store has you covered. They have all manner of refills, like Moleskins or little orange Rhodia notepads or refills for my Fisher Space pen. Or my luxury Caran D’Ache ballpoint or my wife’s odd ruler pen. Go to their annual Pen Fair and browse: you’ll be dazzled. The folks are kind and patient. A handwriter’s must.

Shawn is a very knowledgeable staff member who apparently teaches penmanship. As a result, she is gave excellent advise on what to look for in my next pen—she was patient and genuinely enthusiastic to let me try out lots of different pens, and I was able to confidently walk out with a new Pilot Vanishing Point. As an engineer, I am excited to have this pen as my new everyday writer and, as a pen enthusiast, I am excited to have discovered this hidden gem of a store!

I've always had a good experience when shopping this store. The owner and all his staff are friendly and courteous. I don't mind wearing a mask in the store because I know some of the staff, including the owner have been ill and being a nurse, I totally understand why they need to protect themselves. This is really a nice little place to find unique pens and gifts.

This is unfortunately a negative review of a store that, in the past, we have always looked forward to visiting when we are in Santa Fe. On March 2 of this year we walked to the shop from our hotel. When we arrived, there was a “be right back” sign in the door, so we found other things to do while we kept checking to see if the store was open.We finally found the door open and a woman sitting behind the counter. A sign in the door said Masks Required. While we stood at the door putting our masks on, the woman literally shouted at us that our masks needed to be on before entering the store. Needless to say this was a little off-putting; however, we finished putting our masks on and walked in. At that point the woman yelled at me to close the door while we were still entering. My husband spun around and walked out with me following. We made sure to close the door behind us. As we did so, the woman sarcastically waved us goodbye. Although we have spent a small fortune there over the years, we are sorry to say we have no intention of visiting this shop again.

I love the Santa Fe Pens store! The owner Neal is back after such a long time, and it’s so nice to go back to the Store and see him and Pamela happily together and working again. It’s my favorite place to do my Christmas shopping!

Santa Fe Pens has some lovely, albeit a limited supply of, pens. We found two pens we wanted to consider as a gift for a special friend, but the salesperson did not want to get them out of the case for us to see. Coaxing her into taking them out was just the beginning of the ordeal because she had no clue about prices. Only a few of the pens in the store had prices attached. After flipping angrily through a stack of papers and making several phone calls, she gave us a price for each pen. When we asked to see a third pen, her reply was, "You're kidding me!" When I assured her that we were not kidding, she heaved a huge sigh and finally removed a third pen from the case. As we compared the three pens, she quoted different prices for the original two that we were considering--and the prices were higher! I asked why the price change, and she said that she was looking at the price (on her stack of papers), and "that's what it says!" She pointed at the price on the paper, but I had no faith that the price she quoted corresponded to the pen we were considering. Needing some time to process the price switch and the entire experience, we told the salesperson that we wanted to think a while before purchasing a pen, and she again responded with, "You're kidding me!" My husband returned 15 minutes later to purchase one of the pens, but he came back empty-handed. The price had changed yet again--an increase of about 40%--and she said that a box of about 8 ink cartridges cost $75.! Staples carries the same cartridges for less than $10. This salesperson apparently is not at the store full-time, so perhaps other employees are more competent and less rude. Unless I need a good scolding or want to be baffled by seemingly capricious price changes, I will not be returning to this shop.

I got ripped off on a composite vintage fountain pen. Looks like I got charged triple what it’s worth.

The owner Neal Frank is problematic. Attacks people on public forums for a typo then proceeds to call them racist. He demanded an apology for no reason stated typo offended them him proceeded to cuss out a women on a Facebook public forum. Do not do business with this man. He is offended by this yet owns a business where he has his merchandise made in a well known country that was anti-Semitic. Talk about the hypocrisy. I guess he thinks that when he stirs up unnecessary trouble and doesn't get an apology it gives him the right to cuss out people. Especially for a man his age and a business owner, completely unacceptable.

Great little pen shop! I visited recently and asked to see almost every pen in the case. They were patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. I’ll be back when I’m in Santa Fe next time.

This is a great little pen shop! I stopped by during a recent trip to Santa Fe and spent a long time asking questions and looking at pens. They were patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. I'm enjoying the pen I ultimately purchased during that visit.

I had the most delightful shopping experience here today. I was always intimidated to go in because I thought their pens might be too expensive for me. But when I read in their recent feature in Pasatiempo that they carried ‘starter’ pens for under $30, I had to gift one to myself for my birthday! It came in a beautiful carrying case, with the company’s tag line “Life is too short to carry an ugly pen”. They also carry my favorite planner company, Letts of London and my favorite French notebook company, Clairefontaine. I’ve been using their products for a decade. I will definitely be back with my fountain pen I bought in Paris in 2003, to get it cleaned and refreshed! Thank you!!!
