My family and I perused their book stall in Albuquerque at the book faire in mid March, and the owner was engaging and talkative with my and my sister’s 5, 4, 3, and 2 year olds. It’s difficult for rare books lovers who have preschoolers to shop for books, but the owner made it a pleasure! What a treat to be able to shop without stressing out over my rambunctiously curious children upsetting or offending a rare book seller! I can’t wait to shop in your store when we visit Santa Fe.

My sister and I have been searching for a special copy of The Call of the Wild for my daughter-in-law. She read it as a child and said it was a favorite book and inspired her to become a veterinarian. Mr. Nicholas Potter, Bookseller of Santa Fe, advised our search (from California and New Mexico) and introduced us to the Limited Edition Classics, although he did not currently have a copy. When we found a copy through a different bookseller in Pennsylvania, we consulted with Mr. Potter on that purchase. It turns out he knows that bookseller (clear across the country) and he vouched for the validity of his descriptions and his business practices. Clearly he is dedicated to the profession.

15 years and I still think about this bookshop. My wife and I visited Santa Fe for the first time and in our explorations stumbled across Nicholas Potter Booksellers. I remember the feeling of wonder and delight when we walked in. There were treasures for the mind on every shelf. I remember seeing the collected letters of H. P. Lovecraft and thought there's nothing I might not not stumble across on those shelves. We're going back to Santa Fe this fall and I'm very much looking forward to visiting again.

Excellent selection of good literature, a lot of good first editions of course. If you're into the classics of literature, the real ones, go see this man. He has Borges, Flaubert, Hamsun, and Graves; Dostoevsky novels I haven't seen in print before. The guy knows his product, always well worth the visit.

This place is exactly what bookstores should be! With works carefully collected over decades, the shop has unique and beautiful books you're not likely to find elsewhere - and at good prices too. The owner is super friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, and passionate about books. I could have spent hours browsing and chatting. I'll most definitely be back! The shop doesn't open straight onto the main road but is still right in the Santa Fe plaza. From Palace Ave you go through some iron gates and through an outdoor hallway. It can look like you're not supposed to be there, but you are, so don't be put off - this gem is well worth the few extra steps! If you appreciate books you'll love this place. Don't miss it!
