The Hayunga Studio features paintings by the artist. Most of the paintings are animal themed with a twist. The realistic blending into an almost abstract feel. His paintings let the viewer fill in the blanks. The other artist is a photographer also focusing on animal life. A good combination for this gallery. Free parking right outside.

This was my favorite gallery on Canyon Road. It’s a deeply soulful place to walk into. Live guitar music playing with well spaced art that moved the deeper parts of me in unexpected ways.

I had an amazing experience late in the day at Grant Hayunga's gallery. The smell of the blooming jasmine on the porch greeted me as I walked into a perfectly curated space. The traditional adobe building with fireplace and exposed log beams was hung with Grant Hayunga's paintings and Elizabeth DeCicco's photographs along with the just the right amount of adornments - a chaise lounge here, a few pieces of rustic furniture there, a single deer antler, a friendly gallery dog and a perfectly positioned chandelier lamp next to one of Elizabeth's beautiful horse photos. It was quiet and I wandered through the gallery, my steps creaking on the ancient wood floor to find Grant painting in the furthest room. He stopped after a moment and we talked for a long while about his varied but connected series of work and his inspirations. Eventually Elizabeth turned up and after some conversation about her work, Grant was at the guitar and amp in the corner. A musician as well as a painter, he started to play, lost in his own world. Eventually Elizabeth joined him in song and I received the amazing gift of a brief concert with an audience of one. It was the most unique gallery experience I've ever had, surrounded by song, art and ambience.

The building sits directly on Canyon Road with jasmine plants and a bench on a long porch. It's a place where you can meet the artist who is working with fur and beeswax and oil, among other mediums. Gorgeous quintessential Santa Fe adobe building. There is a gorgeous and raw poem about Hayunga's work on the wall by Santa Fe Poet Laureate, Jon Davis. DeCicco's stunning prints are all on metal and represent her travels and love of humanity and animals. Hayunga also plays music many times throughout the day (he is also a musician/singer and DeCicco is a singer). If you time it right, he is working on something in the back room! Geronimo restaurant is nearby and so is The Compound.
