We were shown around the facility by a very nice young lady named Sara. She was very informative and knowledgeable about all the amenities. The place was clean, very well equipped and offered exercise and swimming opportunities for members of all ages. AND, Hot Tubs! We enjoyed our tour! Thanks Sara!

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this facility. I quit after only 2 months and $600. As a Personal Trainer, the gym was non usable in any normal fashion, in my opinion. The equipment is extremely close together making it difficult to get full range of motion on some pieces of equipment. Most equipment felt small for my 5’9” stature. I usually jumped on 3 cardio machines before I could find one that worked. Picking a ‘working’ machine became a game for me. I would not use the bathrooms. They may have well been in a train station. Filthy. Front desk manager could use some social graces training, in my opinion. Outdoor pool is nice. That gets one star. The star is also for the very kind trainer who stepped in and tried to mitigate damages. I had communicated some feelings to the staff. Ultimately, instead of offering a refund, they actually charged me extra to quit. Chutzpah! Beyond disappointed in El Gancho. On a better note, for those of you like me, who need a strong daily workout, I’ve found a few excellent facilities in Santa Fe. And, they are welcoming.

Bradford Gregory Lawrence: Not sure if the person still works at this center and I have not much to say about the center itself, only the tennis coach who may or may not still work here. It is of public interest that this be mentioned. I met this man several years ago at a restaurant/bar of Sage Hotel, where I was staying, while visiting from out of town. I ended up drinking more than I could handle and he took took advantage of me. He had another woman with him, so I thought I could trust him but in retrospect, I think he used that to his advantage. It is my understanding that a person is legally incapable of consent while under the influence. I did not know who this man was but managed to find out once he insisted we exchange numbers. I believe that he gave me his number, so that he could continue to interact with me and confuse the reality of what had really happened. Once I figured it out, I verbally reprimanded Bradford Gregory Lawrence. I feel as though I did a public service here. He actually threatened me, maybe because no 50 year old man likes being reprimanded by a much younger woman with a funny voice. Nonetheless, hopefully, after the incident with me, he will never take advantage of another drunk woman again. I filed a police report, as well. As far as I was aware, consent cannot be given if a person is incapacitated and that taking advantage of a drunk person constitutes coercion. Of course, the NM statutes about this sort of thing are open to interpretation and the cops dutied with enforcing them are not always thoroughly versed in what they are. The person taken advantage of is almost always unanimously blamed for it. At the end, the cops took his word over mine. Bradford Gregory Lawrence even claimed that I was fighting another woman at a bar for him (narcissistic delusion much?). The cops didn't check the cameras at Sage Hotel Restaurant to corroborate whether this was actually true or not. The police told me that if I was bothered by the incident, I was welcome to seek free therapy at Solace Sexual Assault Center in Santa Fe, NM. Just because this kind of behavior from men is normalized by our society and regularly condoned by police, it is morally and ethically reprehensible. Know the person you're dealing with!

It's a great Santa Fe resource- well equipped gym, good classes and helpful staff. But, as with a lot of businesses, it's time to address indoor air quality, especially with all of the huffing and puffing in the gym and classroom. Air filtration units are inexpensive and can do a lot to make members feel more comfortable. And maybe attract people who don't feel safe going to a gym.

Had an appointment for tennis lessons that I made directly with Joey. I drove 45 minutes only to arrive and have them tell me Joey was on vacation. They took my number and said he would call me back, but it’s been over a week later and I still haven’t heard from him. Glad I didn’t end up paying $85/hour for someone who clearly doesn’t care about their clients. The club was small and seemed old, not the nicest environment for the price.

The staff here is a bit stuffy if your not a member. The tennis courts are a bit run down and the place needs a facelift

There are lots of great trainers in Santa Fe, but I want to give a special shout out to Hannah Yoder with whom I've been working on and off throughout this god awful pandemic. She is incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, creative, and supportive. She is also great about long-term commitments...once you sign on with her she stays engaged to make sure you're getting what you need and making progress toward fitness goals. Give her a try...you'll be happy you did!

Me and my family fully enjoyed our visit to El Gancho. Not only was the staff very polite and accommodating to my family's needs, the guests there were very kind and friendly. The facility appeared very clean and the Sunday crowd was not too big, with a family friendly atmosphere.
