The “lady” at the desk is rude as hell. I think she takes joy in crushing family trips successfully.We had a license go missing in the airport but provided all other necessary documentation as well as being a preferred member.She became increasingly annoyed and rude as we asked her if there was anything we could do. All she could do was dismiss as to corporate in a begrudging tone.I genuinely hope this branch goes out of business, as this franchise location clearly doesn’t have what it takes to compete in this market.Despicable service and offerings.

I wanted to write a review as I was worried about picking up my vehicle due to all the negative reviews. I picked up my Chevy Blazer at 10pm on a 20 degree night right before closing. Staff was extremely kind and made the pick up process very easy.Before drop up I made sure the car was clean and had a full tank. Upon drop up the process was very smooth and I was given a ride from the lot to the terminal so I was able to go right through security.Overall, the process was very easy from the online reservation to pick-up to drop off. I was emailed a receipt within 20 minutes of drop off and had no extra charges.

Unprofessional! Twice they gave us a mustang when we pre registered online for a fuel economy car. Check your vehicles. I got cracked window took pictures. then got letter to pay for it. Won't happen cuz I did their job and washed car, lol. Thanks santa fe Avis. Won't do business with you no more. Rather pay a Lil extra to get vehicle I want.

First let me preface my comments by saying that this is my first ever 1 Star Google review, and it’s so unfortunate that I feel the need to leave one. I also want to make it clear that this review does not in any way reflect on my past experiences with Avis in general. In fact, we just finished a weeklong vacation rental from Avis and our experience was fantastic as usual . However, my experience at this particular Avis location (1946 Cerrillos, Santa Fe NM), and Rachel in particular, was absolutely horrible.We live in Santa Fe, and the purpose of my rental was actually to have a car large enough to hold all my daughters friends as we were celebrating her birthday today. We showed up on time, with my wife and little girl. As you can imagine, we were all in a great mood, and excited to get the day started. Unfortunately, as soon as we walked through the door, I could tell that the individual who “greeted” us (Rachel) was definitely not having a good day. I get it, no problem, we all have rough days. So, I was just friendly and patient with her curt unfriendly, and snappy responses with the hope that she would realize that I was actually one of the nice customers for the day and warm up a little. Unfortunately that plan wasn’t very successful. I won’t bore you with the details, but it was almost as though my very presence was offensive to her and she wanted me to know it.The final straw for me, however, was as I was about to leave I asked her if it would be okay for me to leave my car at their location for a couple of hours. We were going to pick up my daughters friends for her birthday breakfast, after which I’d be back to pick up my car so I could drop it off at our house. To which she replied “if you do it will be towed.“ I said “who would tow it?”, and she said it’s company policy implying of course that it would be her who would have it towed.Anyway, at this point, with her being so unnecessarily rude for our entire interaction, I finally decided that nice wasn’t going to work, and said “I need to give you some feedback. I have been so friendly with you today, and you have made this such an unpleasant experience for me and my family. You haven’t been welcoming, or friendly, or smiled, or done anything at all to make this a pleasant experience for us.” at which point she said “That’s just what a man would say, that women don’t smile enough.”…WHAT?? SERIOUSLY?? What does me being male have to do with anything? My feedback had nothing at all to do with her gender, it had to do with her behavior which was fantastically rude and off-putting. For her to immediately leap the conclusion that the only reason I would expect someone in a customer service position to smile and be friendly to customers is because I’m male is nuts. Really? Apparently, in her opinion, any male customer who would prefer to interact with a customer service agent who smiles MUST therefore be toxically misogynistic and a chauvinistic member of the patriarchy. That’s a slightly radical conclusion to jump to in my opinion. I was so dumbfounded by her response, especially given her behavior, that I just replied “No, my comment had nothing to do with you being a woman, and everything to do with you being rude. I would’ve said the exact same thing to a man.”Anyway, it’s so unfortunate that I feel it’s necessary to leave such a poor review. Avis typically does a really great job, and I can’t think of a bad experience I’ve had with the company overall. But wow, this location needs friendlier help, and based on the fact that this particular location has more 1 star reviews (where I wasn’t surprised to see Rachel mentioned a number of times) than 5 star reviews, I don’t imagine that I am the first one to have such an experience.…on the bright side, I really like the car I got.

Avis/Budget at this location leaves a lot to be desired. The counter lady is incredibly rude and unhelpful. There is clearly some animosity between the national organization and this location. After making a reservation, paying and getting a confirmation number through the national helpline (which you're automatically patched to after three rings are ignored in the local office) came in to find out the car was not available, wouldn't offer a timeline and was essentially told to just sit and wait. Was also told that you can't cancel less than 24 hours out but cars reserved less than 24 hours we're not guaranteed. There is a big disconnect in this company. Bad corporate policies are one thing, the rudeness at the counter from the short haired lady at this location was next level bad customer service. I don't say this often but someone needs to reconsider the employment status of the front counter lady.

This location denied me a rental car despite providing a valid and unexpired Real ID-compliant Driver's License and a valid Credit Card. Upon scanning my license, they asked for an additional form of ID, but would only accept a Passport (I had a Student ID available). I was told that my Driver's License was not secure and that PA licenses had a security weakness (???).This experience left me without a rental car for a week in New Mexico. I was only able to obtain a rental car from Hertz nearby about a week later without any issue. Rent with caution from Avis/Budget.

Beware if you are from Pennsylvania this location requires 2 forms of id (which is fine) but won’t honor the additional forms of id that Avis website says they will accept. Front desk claims people from PA have been a problem with rentals but will not honor Avis’ published policy for secondary id. Should let people know prior to renting if you aren’t going to follow corporate policy.

I'd give this place zero stars if I could. Do everything you can to avoid renting here. Over the last few years, we've tried renting from here several times. Every single time, it's been an absolute nightmare. Avis corporate has clearly not provided the training or level of staffing necessary for this location. I really feel bad for the one woman who works there-- her job must be really awful.I really hope Avis corporate provides more support for this location. But for the foreseeable future, we are absolutely not coming back here!

Guy at the front counter told me to leave my electric bike outside. He would not take my reservation number insisting on me giving my name which was completely unprofessional. He then said give me your cc without talking to me about the reservation. I asked him why he was being so difficult...are you having a rough morning? Then I asked him for his name and he said Tomas. My response was, your the one whose getting all those bad customers reviews. He didn't know what to say and I left.

They Cancelled my reservation leaving us stranded and didn't notify us that it happened. The girl at the location was rude and hung up on me without giving me answers.
