My last experience (the unfortunate time of having to put my dog down) with Franklins Vet was probably by far the best experience I have got with them. I cannot live in the what if, but I can share my experience and why I have rated this vet 2/5 stars. In October of 2023 I noticed my dog was suddenly throwing up daily. We spiked a fever, so I requested an urgent visit. After seeing the female vet there, she suspected he has a disorder that caused him to megoesophagus. I spoke with her about treatments for this and everything was comfort care. I respected her wishes, got a blood test, etc. After my of continuing to throw up with my efforts I wanted him to get the test for MG. I scheduled an appointment and the entire time the lady on the phone was confused. Then I got a call back the day before my appointment. The female vet said there is no need to come and get him tested because we do not test for MG here. So I continued to do what I could for my dog. I reported to this female doctor that not only was he regurgitating every day but he started to become weak in his hind legs. She said that she would hate to have him go on wheels this early because he probably has Congenital Myopathy. After reading about the nature of MG I realized it causes any overall weakness after activity. In order to test for congenital myopathy I would have to travel to different states and spend thousands to get him tested according to the female vet. Time goes on and he continues to get sicker and sicker. The day I laid him to rest he gave me eyes and a look ive never seen before. I knew it was time. I brought him in to get examined and this is when I encountered the owner. He stated that he probably has MG with megoesophagus. I talked to him about the treatment for this and he told me like 4 things that could have been done that I was not explain to before. He offered an x-ray.. I declined because he explained to me my dog was already too far malnourished that there was no coming back from it (90 pounds down to 60). He also said that they can do MG testing it would just be sent out to a lab in Texas. I decided to lay him to rest at 2 years old per recommendation by the vet. They got him cremated and gave me his paw prints and nose print. The overall experience leaves me in the what if, because that was my baby and I wish he was still around. Maybe he could still be around? However my recommendation to the public is to do your research and I would be hesitant to see the female vet. I would never go to her again.... Apart of me feels lied to and another part of me feels like this female vet did not know what she what talking about... There needs to be some communication and consistency...

10 days ago my family adopted a puppy, 2 days later she came down with parvo, Franklin Animal Clinic was the only clinic to not only see my new puppy but also offer me options within my financial needs at the moment. My partner and I felt that without their kindness, help, and knowledge, my family would have lost this puppy. It has been a week since she first showed signs of parvo and seen at Franklin Animal Clinic and today she is thriving. She’s eating, drinking, and acting like the puppy we met when we first adopted her. Thank you to the staff at Franklin Animal Clinic and thank you Dr. Franklin.

They are kind, compassionate and affordable. Not many vets like them left out there. Also the best 24 hour emergency service in the area, bar none

This was the only place that squeezed in my Sharpei. He suffers from skin allergies really bad and he really needed his shot and to make him wait would have been horrible for him. The Vet was kind she answered all questions she also made sure we had everything he needed should he be stuck in between allergy shots so he wont have to suffer next time. The experience was delightful and I would recommend this place.

We arrived in town for a two week vacation. Prior to getting to Ruidoso I had my senior lady weenie dog at the vet in Oklahoma. On their recommendation we seen scheduled an appt in Ruidoso for a chest X-ray on my Penny. She has CHF. The vet in Oklahoma said I didn't have much time left with her. I explained the situation to Franklin Vet and they worked Penny in to be seen even though they were completely booked up. Her X-ray put our mind at ease because it didn't show any fluid on her lungs. They veterinarian that called me explained everything and was so kind and patient with all my questions. They took great care of her!

The doctor was very compassionate. It made our process easier. I only gave a four star because the receptionist was a bit rude.
