I just want to thank Los Lunas Animal Clinic , Dr Thompson save my baby's life on April 29 2024, Masha had days without eating and in Albuquerque no place answered me to treat her in an emergency, this clinic was the only one that received us in less than 1 hour with an appointment, they discovered that Masha had an infection in the uterus and need to take out with a surgery and Dr Thompson was the one who did it right away , in addition to have good service, the prices are really fair ,I just paid only a fraction of what it would have cost me elsewhere without insurance and they included the medication in the same bill. I can tell you that I paid - 60% off what I would have paid in Albuquerque. THANK YOU DR .THOMPSON AND THE ENTIRE TEAM OF LOS LUNAS ANIMAL CLINIC, GOD BLESS YOU

Update from 12/28/2022 Kit has bloody, infected front claws because of the way the declaw was done over a year ago. The bony amputation guillotine method of onychectomy leaves small pieces of bone in the paws. This has to be corrected with more surgery.

Please read all reviews. Pet parents are also given financial incentive to give good reviews. I have tried nearly a month to speak to a vet about legitimate concerns and botched surgery. Dr. MacDougall and Dr. Thompson have had no interest in speaking to me. I drove 14 hours round trip from Phoenix. I'm a doctorally prepared board certified nurse practitioner with over 20 years in the medical field so have some insight. I had red flags back in March when I 1st called to inquire about a vasectomy. I immediately decided against this office as the front office seemed to not know any answers to questions, quoted me up to $3000, was rude, and stated that I didn't have to get lab work if I didn't want to. I called back asking for the Dr. to call back and he answered my questions and stated it was hard to find help. I decided to schedule the surgery. I am so very regretful. I arrived with Brody, a very sweet loving Boxer pup and the vet tech asked me if he had his rabies shot. I said no and she said he shouldn't jump on her as if he bites her he'd be quarantined. Firstly, my dog is not aggressive in any way, and if he did bite, a dog would be quarantined regardless of rabies vaccine status. Dr. MacDougall comes in and my dog jumped up. I said we are working on that. He immediately shoved him down saying, "Mind your manners, we have small kids here" I think he realized his reaction by the look on my face and then did greet him. I was not aware that Dr. MacDougall was not performing surgery. I did not meet Dr. Rigdon. Towards the time of pick up at 2pm, I texted and called and never got a response as to how he was doing. At 2, the one gal working at the desk took about 40-45 minutes to process a pet parent before me. Finally, they bring Brody out and he's a bit whiney and the vet tech states, "He's a little whiny, feeling sorry for himself!"Really? A pet owner wants to know that their puppy is receiving compassion and love after a surgery. The NSAIDs (pain meds) are not in the bag and I have to go back in. I hear the vet or tech say that meds are included so I'm not charged. I returned to the clinic a day later asking for a benzodiazepine just for the 7 hr ride home to be administered before we left. Brody is quite anxious in the car and I had used most of the hemp I brought with me. They gave me an option of trazodone and gabapentin. My other dog had a terrible reaction to gabapentin and trazodone can sometimes make subjects more anxious. I did not want to try it on a 7 hour car ride. I explained this and the lady at the desk became very short and angry raising her voice. It's this or that. What will it be? She said they didn't carry it. This was dishonest. Every vet office will carry this. Dr. Rigdon is also very short, (she apparently performed the surgery), told me it was illegal for vets to send home versed or Valium with pet parents. I was not asking for something for home but for the ride home and knew she was being dishonest. I finally said, I'll try some trazodone at home in case I need it. They proceeded to give me a 30 day supply for nearly $50. I said, why would I want 30 days of something I'm not sure I'll give him and asked them to be specific when ordering meds. The gal at the desk shot back, "You should have been more specific" and I said, "I was asking for something for the ride home". She said if they shortened the quantity it would take even longer. I declined and went to Pet Smart and bought multiple things to help. At this time she tells me I never paid for the pain meds. In which I tell her I was told it was included she says she wasn't there yesterday. So I paid. 5/31, I notice Brody's testicles are rapidly shrinking to 1/3 the size. When reviewing research about canine/human vasectomy, talking to human urologists, other vets that specialize in vasectomies, it is stated that there should NEVER be or a very minimal unnoticeable decrease in testicle size unless there was significant blood loss. I love this business and the doctors they have the provided the best care to my French bulldog for her c section. She doesn't look like she had surgery. The staff was incredible on keeping me informed and helping my dogs needs. I highly recommend them for any animal care. We have been to a few vets and none were this friendly or caring.

Top notch care at a fair price! We have tried several vets around ABQ and now drive out to Los Lunas for all our pet care. The doctors are caring and hard working. They present all options and let you decide for yourself. All services are delivered with the best skill but charged at prices that you can swallow. I recommend to everyone and no one we have ever sent has ever been disappointed. So many of the family now comes out to Los Lunas from Rio Rancho just for the best service.

I've been using Los Lunas Animal Clinic for over 20 years, for a succession of elderly rescue dogs, and the care has been stellar. The vets are very knowledgeable and very kind to animals, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Good care of geriatric animals is an art, and because of LLAC my older dogs have lived happy, comfortable, and long lives.

BEWARE!!! The worst vet experience ever! This clinic is unresponsive, rude staff and scams you! First time we booked with them, our appointment was booked through email and "confirmed". After never hearing back, I called and was given the response that their clinic did not speak with us on email (even after confirming/forwarding the email) and didn't apologize. After rebooking and driving from Albuquerque, we waited 2 hours after our appointment time to be seen! When we asked the receptionist for a time estimate, they were very rude saying whenever they get to it. Our cats were finally seen, but the vet literally walked in and walked out in less than 3 minutes. We had 2 cats so there was no proper exam. When we started to ask questions, the vet walked out mid conversation. We were unable to ask questions and my husband And I were stunned at how rude the whole staff was. We bought a package (shots and "neuter") that required going back again, so we went back for shots but the same thing of waiting over 2 hours after our appointment time (we booked for their first morning slot to avoid any late times -- same situation of running so so late and not apologizing). Vet tech came in to lobby after 2 hours and gave shots (took 2 minutes) so I don't understand why they couldn't have done it any earlier?? When we asked about booking the neuter, they said the package did not include it (even when I showed documentation we bought the package including neutering) and quoted us several hundred dollars more to perform surgery. Never have I ever had such a rude and terrible experience. If you want an actual vet that cares about your animal, treats you at a decent level, and doesn't scam you out of hundreds of dollars, go somewhere else!

Dr Thompson saved her life! My furbaby was in need of emergency care. I feared I was going to have to watch her die. I called several local vets and one by one was told they wouldn't see her. Desperate to save her, I began calling vets down the list. LLAC was the 5th number I called. They immediately took her in. Just as we walked in the door, she collapsed. I feared the worst. A couple days later, I received the best phone call. She was ready to come home! Thank you Dr. Thompson! You saved my baby's life! WoofWoof!! She is continuing her recovery at home on her extra fluffy cozy bed.

Where do we start... My aunt recommended this place to us, so we went ahead and took our German Shepard there. Our first issue was when we took her in to get spayed. Although we confirmed the appointment, they didn't have her scheduled when we got there. We had already taken days off of work, to care for her after her surgery. They said they could "squeeze" her in. We should have just left right then and there. However, we left her there for her surgery. When we got home, she started bleeding from her incision, and turned right back around. Which we ended up having to leave her there over night. The vet that we spoke to that time was real apologetic and walked us through everything, we had no problem giving them another chance. When our dog ended up getting sick back in July, we called to get her in to make sure it was nothing serious. We left her there in the morning, and they called my boyfriend in the afternoon saying that she needed an exploratory surgery. Being skeptical, my boyfriend asked to see the x-ray that they took to come to this conclusion. He didn't see anything suggesting that there was anything inside her stomach, but the vet convinced him that there was something there so they went on with the surgery. After that they called and said they didn't find anything in her stomach.... NO SURPRISE THERE. After having an unpleasant conversation with the owner of the business, he sent us home with tons of medications for our dog and refused to explain what to give her and when. Fast forward to having to get her sutures removed, and them informing us we then needed another surgery because she now had a hernia. I will never take my dog or any pet to this place ever again! Worst experience of my life. Now I have called 3 times and emailed to get a copy of my dogs medical records and they haven't sent us anything at all! Avoid this place if you love your furry friends.

My little Ann came down with a parasite and within three days she was skin and bone and we thought she wouldn’t make it. No vet would take us until a week later and emergency vets are expensive. They took us the very next morning as soon as they opened and saved my little girl. They are now our go to primary and we wouldn’t have it any other way. They truly care about your pets.

DO NOT take your animals to Los Luna's Animal Clinic. I could not find a vet to come to my farm to float my horse's teeth. So I scrambled to find someone who's tailer I could borrow but they were just in town for a couple days so I made an appointment at LLAC. We rescheduled the appointment from Wed. to Fri. due to weather conditions. We put the horse on the trailer and drove 35 mins. to get there and they said both appointments were marked cancelled ! Their mistake not mine! The receptionist said we can take the appt. at 2 so we waited and then we're told at 2:15 that they don't have time to do it. I left them know I had no way to get him back there again and his teeth are so bad he is losing all his food and losing weight. They just didn't give a s*** about my horse!!! or me for that matter. I have no idea how I can get his teeth done anytime soon. I cried the whole way home!! They don't care about animals or they would have taken him as an emergency!!! I just moved here and I have never in my life have had such an uncaring vet and I have had horses most of my life.

Asked them to contact me once I could pick up my dog and told them I would be waiting nearby. They told me they would call in two hours. I never received a call. Tried to call them multiple times throughout the rest of the day and never got an answer. Nobody ever picked up the phone until 30 minutes before they were about to close, and even then that was after even more phone calls.

Going the extra mile Can't say enough about the thorough and thoughtful care our dog received at LL Animal Clinic. He needed some dental cleaning and during this procedure they identified some shards of teeth a neglectful vet left behind two years earlier (with nerves exposed). I can only imagine how painful this must have been for our dog. BUT, LL Animal Clinic took care of this issue during the cleaning procedure and now our dog will thrive and eat well again ...... AND great Communication every step of the way during any procedure at this clinic!
