Rented a cargo trailer to bring some artificial turf home from the store (I didn't want to fold it). Everything was as-expected, and the manager was courteous, helpful, and informative. The parking lot is a little tight but I got good advice and help managing that, too.

I have moved a significant number of times - like 15 times in 16 years. I have used this UHaul location and many other UHaul locations in the Southwest Region. This UHaul location has the best hours of operation and the most helpful staff of any UHaul I have ever been to (and all of them have been pretty great). I will continue to use this location for all my moving needs. I have shopped and purchased: boxes, plastic wrap, dish foam holders, moving blankets, tape, moving straps, and various items! I highly recommend this location! My only complaint about UHaul - the cooperation - is that they constantly give you coupons for your prior purchases but they have so much fine print regarding them that almost every single one has gone to waste.

I went in to purchase boxes, upon my arrival there were so many vehicles piled up it made it impossible to park my car. I had to back up and pull back around to the front, even then their wasn't much room but I managed. When I went inside there was a line of people waiting for service, however it seemed like most of the employees were inside which explains why it was impossible to get my car through the parking lot. It seemed like a few of the employees were assisting customers however the two females were carrying on a conversation as the line grew. As I waited I was getting more frustrated because while we were all waiting they were more concerned with the conversation they were having. When it finally came time for my turn the young lady who was being addressed as Cheyenne finally decided to assist my self and other customers. I had a few questions for her and even that took far too much explaining which ended up feeling very condescending. I would akin this experience to being stuck at the DMV. I highly recommend you go elsewhere for all of your moving needs what I thought was going to be a simple trip turned into a lengthy ordeal, the employees are rude Don't waste your time!

The first part of this review is about U-Haul in general and the second part is about this specific location. I checked the website for the availability of a box truck in my area and most of the locations came up but they weren't letting me schedule a pickup time for some reason (and they did say truck were available). I called U-Haul and asked about it and the person I talked to said only one location had the size truck I needed. It was at a neighborhood dealer so they made the reservation and said someone would contact me the next day. I asked if U-Haul or the dealer would be calling me because the dealer (a separate business from U-Haul) is closed on the day I needed to pick up the truck. The person I was talking to said I would get the call from U-Haul and I could use the mobile app to get the keys. I didn't know what they were talking about so they said there is a drop box with the keys at the location and the app is supposed to unlock it. I didn't receive a call the next day so I called U-Haul again and explained the situation. They said my reservation was set and I should receive a call the next day. The next day came and went but still no call. I did get an email confirmation about my reservation which said I needed to provide three forms of ID at check in, of which includes any combination of a government issued ID, contact phone numbers for two other people and my employer, a copy of my residential lease agreement, and a passport. I called U-Haul again and asked about my reservation and the copious amount of ID verification I apparently needed to provide and this person I was talking to said I just needed my driver's license. They also mentioned additional steps I needed to take in the app on pick up day (which the other person didn't mention) and said my reservation was confirmed. Again, I asked about why I wasn't contacted and that my reservation didn't equal an actual confirmation. This person said someone was looking into it and I should wait for a call the next day. The next day came and went so I called U-Haul yet again and explain the entire situation for a third time. This person forwarded me to the regional scheduling manager and they were able to confirm my truck rental and reschedule it so that I would pick it up at U-Haul's main depot in Las Cruces on El Paseo. On the pick up day I had to wait about 45 minutes to get checked in due to the huge line but otherwise I didn't have any issues picking up the truck. I ended up bringing it back really early because I didn't need it for the entire length of time I specified. The attendant doing the check in for returned trucks did a quick inspection and then got me a receipt and I was out of there in about 3 minutes. I came back a few minutes later because I saw on the receipt that they had charged me for gas. Before I brought the truck back, I gassed it up to the level it was at when I got it but this person said I didn't bring it back with enough gas in it. I showed them my gas receipt and they said the gas level wasn't sufficient so they charged me for 2 gallons (about $9). Basically they assumed I didn't gas up the truck so they charged me instead of asking about it first. I asked to talk to one of the office staff who helped check me in but this person said the office staff were all unavailable. They also said there was nothing they could do about it because the return had already been processed and completed. I wasn't going to give this person a hard time over $9 but I did leave some feedback directly with U-Haul (which they probably won't read) about settling gas discrepancies before a return is completed. I'm hoping this was just an oversight and I wasn't intentionally being shafted out of a few extra dollars, but I don't know. My advice: don't let them complete the return until all of your questions and concerns have been addressed and always talk to one of the office staff, not the attendants outside prepping the trucks for other customers.

The employees were helpful, courteous, and friendly. This location is well stocked with everything needed for moving - packing, boxing, tape, you name it, they got it. This location also has storage units, and all sizes of rental vehicles for moving including trucks and trailer pull behinds. So I was more than a little disappointed when I picked up my 26 foot truck for our move from New Mexico back to Florida and discovered a couple of things that would have made that 1900 mile trip a lot more comfortable and enjoyable. I had made my reservation for the 26 foot truck (their largest) weeks ahead of time. It was not a sudden last minute booking. I told them where I was going and what the distance would be. I was really disappointed to discover that the driver's seat only adjusted forward and backwards - not up and down. I ended up putting a folded kitchen floor mat with a seat pad to sit on so that my field of vision was in the middle of the windshield (I'm 5'9" so I guess they design these trucks to be driven by NBA basketball players?!). My last big disappointment was that this truck only had an AM - FM radio. No CD Disk, and No USB Port. 1900 miles, 3 days traveling across America with only AM - FM radio. Did you know that in West Texas near the Pecos you can't get anything on FM or AM? Again, I had made reservations weeks before and they new how many miles I'd be traveling, ...and this rental was not cheap! Yet this is what I got. On the positive side, the truck performed well. The air conditioning worked well. It had the Ford F650 V-10 engine. It got around 8 miles per gallon, and had a 60 gallon tank. The governor was set at 75 mph (thank god), which was good as the speed limit in west Texas is 80 mph. It had good brakes, but with it fully loaded the acceleration struggled (something I learned quickly when passing or merging). It road pretty rough - letting you know every bump in the road. Finally, the tires needed balancing - around 60 mph the truck would start to shake, but then came out of it at higher speeds. I stated this to the Manager where I turned it in. After 3 days I was really glad to get this truck unloaded and turned in. This trip pretty much made me a believer in PODS. However if you're ambitious and want to drive a 26 foot truck across the Country I wish you the best of luck.

If you are moving yourself this is the way to go. If you are looking for a referral, do your homework and really pay attention. Plus get it in writing a legible copy.
