First time meeting the staff. Very nice and professional. They squeezed us in when no one else could. We had to put our cat down but very sincere and helpful with everything.

Dr. Short was one of the only veterinarians in Las Cruces accepting new clients during this busy year while most businesses have been understaffed due to the pandemic, which I was very grateful for. I took my nine year old Shepherd/Great Dane mix, Peyton, to her in hopes of getting a steroid prescription for her joint issues. Blood tests and x-rays were done, all normal except the arthritis. Although I requested she be kept on the steroid because she had such a great response to it, Dr. Short said that was not an option because it was not good for her and said she was going to start her on Previcox, an NSAID. I followed the regimen as prescribed. After about two weeks Peyton began throwing up, so I stopped the medication and continued to monitor her. In days she began to decline, no longer eating or drinking. I contacted Dr. Short with my concerns and she said that she would in fact start her on steroids after all, along with the addition of anti nausea medication. Later that day Peyton was no longer able to stand on her own and had a change in breathing. I notified Dr. Short and she confirmed that I should take her to the emergency clinic. Blood tests showed that she had acute kidney failure and was severely anemic. All of which was attributed to the NSAID.I am grateful for the Animal Hospital of Las Cruces for being so professional, listening to my concerns, and doing everything they could in an effort to save Peyton. Unfortunately she passed away, due to the damage that was done in such a short amount of time.I know Dr. Short had the best of intentions and chose to do what she saw fit as a professional. I am just disappointed that my opinion and input was not considered. The circumstances are unfortunate, but Dr. Short remained very accessible and pleasant throughout it all.

We have used a mobile vet for years in Santa Fe and upon returning to Las Cruces, couldn't find one until we saw Dr. Short's Zia Mobile Vet in our neighborhood. We made an appointment and they were on time, great customer/pet care and just a very pleasant experience.

Even though they are busy they are patient when it’s your furry friends turn. Lost one star because they gave my 11lb. Mix a cough syrup that made her have bloody diarrhea. Gross! Poor girl.
