This is a neat little gas/service station just before you reach the AZ/NM border. You pay a premium for snacks and gas, but really, it's the only place for miles so I didn't mind too much. The atmosphere is fun, with wood flooring straight out of an old western movie. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The collection of items to purchase range from general western themed, to New Mexico branded. But what most people come for, I'd imagine are the fireworks. Coming from AZ I've never seen a larger selection in a gas station. If you are from AZ, and live nearby, it's not a bad place to go to get the things that go boom.

It's a typical roadside place that you find all over the expansive west in the middle of nowhere. They have a lot of stuff in there and couple of gas pumps out front. You will pay a premium for items like drinks for bei g out on the prairie.

My experience is from the 60's. The family used to drive from Las Cruces to Deming for Sunday dinner at my aunt's house. We always stopped at Bowlin's on the way home. I used to believe the Jackalope stories. Jack Rabbit got humped by an Antelope and created a Chupacobra that would get you if you wondered the desert at night. Anyway, since we weren't allowed to have fireworks, my thrill was to spit into the Rattlesnake pit and make the snakes rattle. Until Indian Joe one time grabbed me and acted like he was going to drop me into the pit. He said those were his spirit brothers and he took offense to spitting on them. I became a Rattlesnake catcher and tamed my snakes with live mice and baby chicks. I was good at it. I did it the Indian way, make them strike and catch them around the throat with my bare hands. Never was bitten.
