Why is the post office closed at 445pm when it should be 5pm? 15minutes early is a but excessive. 5 minutes, maybe but 15 minutes early?

I love this post office! The employees are so kind and helpful. I have never had a negative experience. To the person who wrote the previous nasty review: It clearly states on the post office website that the last collection of outgoing mail ends at 4:30pm MST. You claim to have worked in customer service before, so you should know all about annoying and entitled customers. Claiming that you are a "paying customer" and an "American citizen" is beyond rude, entitled, and disgusting, it has nothing to do with the level of customer service you should receive. Sit down Karen and quit throwing a temper tantrum. You are clearly the person in the wrong here. Shame on you for saying that she needs to be fired, I think she deserves a raise for dealing with people like you!

This Office is one of the worst in the valley. I was refused service after entering the main office to ship 3 packages. She said she had to be out by 6:45Pm (Even though it was barely 4:45Pm MST-She then went on to say that her Boss (The Post Master) said she had to be out by 5:50Pm (Which I though was weird since it was not even 5Pm yet) She then asked rudely if the packages were addressed yet ......which they weren't because I was filling them out over the counter using my phone to pull up the addresses.Just then she said she wouldn't be able to help me because it was too late, yet I was still in the building "During" Standard Hours of operation and it was now 4:52Pm MST,I stated that I was in the Customer Service Field and that this was "No Way" to treat a paying citizen of the United States and was a very poor way to conduct "Professional Business". I asked if the manager was available and no sooner was the attendant on the phone to call the Post Master and complain that she had to leave(even though she still had a job to do,by mailing my packages)even though I was in the building at 4:50Pm which is still Official hours of a United States Post Office. She hands the phone to me and the Post Master asks who I am. I state I am a Paying Customer of a United Stated Post Office. She then states that as long as a person is inside the building before 5Pm MST Closing time then you can still be serviced. I then thanked her and was still refused service as the attendant hung up and turned the Post Office lights off as if a final refusal of service. This little town is great but its time we get some decent & willing Professional help in our government & state facilities ,NM Post Service Branches are THE WORST..BeWaRe Fellow Americans.

Well I have to admit I really like those small town post office. This place did not disappoint. Although Mesa or La Mesa as it is called is a teeny tiny town here in New Mexico just south of Las Cruces I found it to be one of those places where you could probably get all the news about town if you just talked to the lady behind the counter who was most probably the postmaster of Lamesa. I had one small package I needed to mail that did not get out the door before we left home so so I said to my wife lets to pull over at the next post office because we had just gone by one and there it was a few miles later. Everyone was polite and helpful and so nice really. She even had a restaurant recommendation and guess what I thought that was just the icing on the cake for very nice. She checked my sloppy handwriting and told me the machine would be able to read it and told me a little bit about how things get sorted and fixed in those automatic machines and I just said well that's above and beyond one more time. Now if you're ever in the neighborhood of Lamesa this might be the place for you to send out your mail
