Gallup, New Mexico is the center of Navajo and Native American jewelry and crafts. Something like 75% of all Native jewelry flows through the city. The Nugget Gallery is a little off the beaten path but has an extensive collection of jewelry, stones, kachinas, horsehair pottery, sand paintings, woven goods and many other art products. The store's owner is extremely knowledgeable about jewelry and you can be assured that your purchase is authentic and made by a local artisan and not some knock-off shop in China. The prices are good here too, very reasonable compared to the shops on Route 66.

We met Ashley and Chris several years ago while we were visiting New Mexico. They have become friends who we look forward to seeing every year. Would not go through Gallup New Mexico without spending some time at the shop. I can’t say enough how beautiful the things that Ashley and her family collect are. I have been fortunate enough to secure many priceless pieces from her. Love seeing all the locals at her shop as well.

Heard great things and couldn't wait to get here. Checked their hours and drive an hour and a half to get here on Saturday to find the gate open and a sign a padlocked door asking the mailman to deliver the mail to the house in back:-(

I have been purchasing from Ashley from The Nugget Gallery for over a year now. I'm telling you if you want big, statement pieces that make heads turn and constantly give you compliments on the street- you need to buy now! Not only are the pieces executed perfectly but I always have to get mine resized and I've never had a problem. They always come to me fitting like a glove. So happy I found her and am able to purchase these artists outstanding, heirloom worthy pieces. You won't find this quality out in stores everywhere. Take the plunge!

Do you appreciate Native American treasures: jewelry, pottery, baskets, rugs and sculptures? Then you will do well to visit The Nugget Gallery on Second Street in Gallup, New Mexico. The shop manager, the owner's daughter, Ashley, has grown up knowing the local artists and their work. Ashley loves the Native arts and understands what to look for when purchasing treasures for the shop, she learned from the artists themselves! She wants you to be happy with any purchase you make, and she spends the time to make that happen for you. Because the shop is filled with treasures directly from the artists, the prices are the most affordable anywhere. Your experience at The Nugget Gallery will be memorable and rewarding, as it has been each time when I visit.
