Avoid this hotel at all costs. Hotel is under renovation and all public areas are closed (gym, pool, laundry, public restroom on lobby floor) and the elevator is broken so you'll have to carry your luggage up the stairs. There are no standard amenities whatsoever. Parking is limited as most of the parking lot has been converted to construction staging. On the night I arrived there was also no wi-fi available. This property should clearly be closed until renovations are complete, and the cost of the room does not reflect the current status of the hotel. I emailed the hotel manager asking for a reasonable discount based on the condition of the hotel but never got a response and they charged me full price. I'm shocked that Hilton allows this type of hotel to operate in its current condition. Obviously customer satisfaction is not a factor.

Made a reservation on the road. I was told it was a no cancel reservation, which was fine because my two 3 yr olds have been on the road since Yukon Oklahoma and tge were ready to settle in for the night I check in and the 1st thing the desk clerk tells me is that we have no elevator that work, no pool, no gym, If not for the kids iwould have left then they have construction work on every floor and thur out the hotel all I can say is stay away to make it worst they had no toiletries in our room we all actually slept in our clothes that night just a gross place now I'm sur when construction is done it will be alot better but with all the amenities not available they should not charge the rate very unhappy with the Hampton inn and suites in Gallop NM
Rooms: Nasty dirty

Stay away. This location is currently under renovation. None of the amenities are open (IE: pool, fitness center, business center, laundry, etc.). Enter first and third floors are closed. 1st floor smelled like a sewer. Not even my dog wanted to walk into the place. Made a reservation on the Hilton Honors website and there was no notice about this. When I checked in, the front counter person claims there was notice. Too late to cancel and go somewhere else. Hampton is charging full price for the room. Which is a crime.
The room I got was old, with stained furniture, desk chair that didn't work, really bad WiFi and smelled. There were no amenities in the bathroom (shampoo, soap, lotion, etc.) as there usually is. Water coming out of the tap was light brown in color and smelled wrong. Front desk was oblivious about it. Thankfully I only have to be here one night.
Not the usual Hampton experience. Best wait until the reno is done to see if this location comes up the Hampton standards that guests expect.

This hotel is run down. They state they are doing renovations, but it should be torn down. There was no ice - ice machines had a sign "out of order" - when I asked the front desk about it, I was told to go to Walmart to get ice. The pool was closed, the gym was closed, laundry was closed, the elevator sounds like it is going to crash, wallpaper torn off the walls, dirty, old, DON'T bother. Complained to Hilton Honors and so far have heard nothing from the hotel - past the timeline of response. DON'T STAY AT THIS HAMPTON!!!

Don't stay until after the remodel. I'm sure it will be fine then. Seemed to be dirty and dingy.
Rooms: Need updated and they are in the process. Even though the pool, fitness center were closed they are charging full price. As diamond members they always offer water and snacks when checking in. We were told by front desk that they aren't doing this during renovation. Also our room had no conditioner, lotion or bath soap only facial soap. We were told they will have some next week. Doesn't do us any good. Nate at the front desk was very pleasant while checking out. He apologized for the conditions. The best part about the stay is the breakfast. Love the people who take care of this. Great job!! We wish that Hilton would have given us break on the price e as we would have stayed at the beautiful Hilton Garden Inn for the same room and same price if we could could have canceled Hampton Inn. They said we couldn't.

We were disappointed with our stay. The hotel was under major renovation which was not mentioned when we booked. We were charged full price even though I couldn’t use the laundry, the workout room, or the pool or even the ice machine. The quality of the furniture and the bathroom facilities were old. We should have been at least compensated. We will not stay here again.

Tony and I stopped in at the Hampton Inn at Gallup, New Mexico. The room was good Size but there was hotel issues from the beginning. The main lobby doors would not open they were broken had to be forcefully opened.
There was only one broken bellboy cart.
The elevator was old, rickety and scary.
The entire place was not even a one star hotel. I would be ashamed to call it a Hilton.
The room was clean and decore okay but the door would not lock properly. I was scared to sleep. I moved furniture in front of doorway.
The bathroom was dirty. The previous customers dirty socks under the bathroom sink and black hair in shower.
There was a snow storm so no rooms to move too, no other hotel close by and I called corporate...they gave me 15,000 points to compensate...better than nothing but I won't be back...NO THANK YOU

I've stayed here before and was calling for local info before booking travel but the lady on the phone was so terribly rude. I will definitely book elsewhere!

I changed it from 5 stars to 2 stars because I didn't realize I gave it 5. Only meant to give it 2.
The not so good:
If you have a big rig, parking is not this hotels best feature. We had to park at the home depot across the street and walk all the way around the hotel in below freezing Temps and snow packed slick roads.
The front glass sliding doors were not working so had to pull apart to get in, freezing cold.
Hotel is outdated. Elevator is loud and sounds rough.
The little store inside had very little to choose from.
The plus:
Rooms were decent. We got the king suite with sofa. The bed had a night stand on both sides (most hotels I've stayed in don't have that).
The closet was a big huge mirror door.
Had a bathtub (a must for me, I can't do showers)
We were only there long enough to get a good night's sleep, so I can't speak for the other amenities they have.

I would stay in my car before staying at this property again. Upholstered surfaces in the room were filthy. The finish on the tub was peeling. Equipment in the fitness room was non-functional, missing power cords and only two sets of weights (20 & 25lb). Pool was cloudy and the steps were slippery - whirlpool was out of order and surrounded by filthy orange traffic cones. The floor of the pool area needs repair. The elevator does not have an inspection certificate and the door to the elevator motor room is kept open (massive security issue) and there is a floor fan blowing on the motor - reading other reviews it's obvious there is an issue with this elevator.

room literally stinks. my son said it smells like grandma farts. upholstered chair stinks of urine. ac unit stinks and whenever you turn it on it fills the room with a nasty odor. carpeting is so disgusting that neither of us was willing to be barefoot in the room. bathroom had water leaking out of ceiling. front desk said they called the manager and were told that they couldn't move me to another room due to being sold out ... and that's it. Not even a "sorry for the inconvenience - have some points as an apology " or an offer of someone mopping up the huge puddle in the bathroom - not even extra towels to sop up some of the water - just a flat "nothing we can do". It's not Hilton's fault - it's the management company (the people who run the location for the owners) that are to blame for everything wrong here. the owners should leave Hilton and rebrand as a red roof inn or something like that. something we're the standards and expectations are more in line with what's here.
