100 Austin St, Truth or Consequences“We had one of the newer rooms Sunrise B. Mineral pool jetted tub in the room. Amazing. So worth the trip. We loved the outdoor pools and view of the Rio Grande. One of our favorite hot spring trips and we have been to many. Thank you! ?”
“Rooms: The hotel is historic and so don’t expect it to be new and shiny like a Marriott. It was built in the early 1900’s and it was bought and remodeled by Ted Turner in 2013. There is loads of hot water and the floor kind of creaks a little like any true historic building. It feels classic.
Nearby activities: Drive out down 3rd St to the dam and then the Damsite restaurant. Beautiful drive and it’s not far. You can drive to Hillsboro too. That’s a cool little town not far away. Hatch is the Chile Capitol of the World not far from there. Soaking at the Riverbend Hot Springs is not much more special than soaking at the hotel in the outside tub. Float the Rio Grande in tubes for the afternoon. Drive down the other side of the Rio Grande from the town. Go to the old church up on the bluff in Caballo.
Safety: Totally safe town. Nothing bad happens there.
Food and drinks: The continental breakfast was tasty with green chile, of course, bacon diced up and eggs but I’d recommend eating at a restaurant for breakfast like at Johnny B’s and get the breakfast burrito smothered in green chile. Or the chilaquiles at El Faro restaurant. If you’re only there for a few days, the continental breakfast is good and the pastries are nice and the coffee is quality coffee but I’d recommend eating out. We liked the Outer Edge Pizza a lot. It was really good.
Noteworthy details: The photos in the upstairs hallway are super interesting. Loads of stories from back in the early 1900’s that the waters are healing for Rheumatism. Most people know now that it’s because the town was built on top of loads of crystals and that does something. The movie Eddington with Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone was just filmed there.”

“Victor, the general manager, was a gem to work with! We had a group of employees coming to the area for a job that had some uncertainty to its start and finish dates. Victor went above and beyond to help us find rooms when we needed them at the last minute and get us good rates! Also, he allowed us a couple last minute cancellations when we encountered some changes to our schedule. We are so grateful for his excellent customer service! Definitely recommend this lodging accommodation in Truth or Consequences!”
“Looks kind-of sketch at first but when you get in the 2 or more person pool it has a rustic feel. The worker on site was friendly and it's a good price. I'm curious as to the diffrent mineral contents of the diffrent springs . They all cant have the same content as some smell like sulfur. This one kind-of smelt like chlorine and it appears there is a high chloride content in the mineral content listing. Does anybody know which springs are superior. This one had a gravel bottom which felt excellent on my feet and a hot jet. Also the price was unbeatable. Choose the large tub if available so you can do full mobility stretches while massaging your sore muscles”

Sure if you don’t mind some paint peeling or some rips in your very old yet clean bed cover than the price is right at this Motel 6.We had a fridge and microwave in our clean yet basic room but I would recommend a wet jet swiffer for housekeeping because the floors need work! All in all OK.Safety: No security, hardly any cameras present and the outside lighting was a joke. The deadbolt lock on our room door didn’t work.”
“I wish I could get more stars. I can’t say how wonderful this hotel was to us. We were evacuates from Ruidoso. They gave us an excellent discount and made sure our every need was. Katelyn Autumn Kim and Courtney were super and wonderful. They went above and beyond for us. Highly recommend this hotel. They just opened there still working some of the tweaks it was worth it. Thank you so much Elephant Butte Inn!!!!!”
