Horrible experience. Ask around town people either had great experiences or they went through hell. We went through hell. Our 2017 ford diesel had a fuel pump explode we came here on a recommendation from a friend (later found out he never used them for anything major) and we wished we had taken it to a dealership. We dropped car off in October of 2023 and picked it up end of July 2024. This time hopefully for good but we no longer trust the truck and we haven’t driven it further than our home so who knows. The truck was ready previously 3 times before but never made it over 100 miles before breaking down.
it took them several months to do the first attempt at the job which wasn’t what we were promised but parts didn’t show up or they showed up damaged per Dylan the front desk guy The front desk guy is horrible he will treat you badly and act like you are bothering him when you call for an update.
Ford parts were back ordered at the time - no idea when they would be in. We used after market parts (diesel logic) on google they have over 700 reviews and almost 5 stars seemed customers loved them and it was all that was available. Want to mention here spears order the parts and marked them up with the promise of a 25k warranty on labor. This becomes important later. Owners words “I’ll never let that mechanic touch another diesel again” so that tells me he has guys that don’t know what their doing on diesels and are not supervised- this was a whole fuel system rebuild a major diesel job and it was unsupervised obviously had Chris done the job maybe it would have been different we will never know
Parts were blamed constantly and we started to replace with ford injectors (more $ ) and fuel lines etc but the truck still broke down and spilled fuel everywhere- we had it towed multiple times to there shop and one other and the other shop owner who owns a large diesel shop in Albuquerque told us it wasn’t put together right but all he could do is tear it down and redo it - another 10k plus. So we brought it back to spears. We got caught between a rock in a hard place. Spears claiming it was parts and the parts place saying it was them
Finally the remaining four injectors that were bad or going bad got sent back to be tested and one tested bad
My concern is something was taking those injectors out. Statistically what they were saying didn’t add up. It’s unheard of to order a kit with 8 injectors and all of them have to be replaced unless something wasn’t done right. We just wanted our truck to work and it was a beautiful truck that literally gave us zero issues before this
When we picked up the truck this week they proceeded to bill us another $1700 to pick it up for a truck that never ran right and they do not honor their warranties in my opinion…
The truck ran better with the exploded fuel pump than it ever did after we picked it up.
I’m not a mechanic or part expert we took our truck there for their expert advice and were treated badly constantly and basically just burned from the beginning.
If something does go wrong expect to be snickered at by the staff as well and called a Karen. No im a mom that doesn’t appreciate being broken down on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere with her 8 year old with fuel spilling everywhere after driving 60-80 miles away from your shop….and after paying a repair bill that could buy a new car ….and then being called cheap by your staff
nothing that we did was cheap including the diesel logic parts or the ford parts that came afterwards
Take your car there at your own risk - you maybe a great story or you might be a story like ours
My suggestion if it’s major job don’t even mess around.

I drove all the way from Santa Fe on 12/27/2023 to drop off truck. I was told bring it and we will start on it next year. They finished up on 1/12/2024. The reason for why it took so long was leed time on parts and I was good with that. Picked up next day and drove my 07 Classic Duramax back home. 22 mpg was my new average compared to 12.8 mpg!
I have owned 4 GM Diesel trucks and never found a good diesel tech in Santa Fe. I will bring them my 2023 AT4 for service when needed. I found my new diesel tech!

Not only does this place know what they’re doing, they do it in a way that nobody else’s and that is with the absolute best customer service I’ve ever seen! If there’s something wrong with your vehicle, you would literally be silly to take it anywhere else! Consider breaking something on your vehicle just to see what it’s like Lol! Truly, I cannot recommend these people enough. I will never be going anywhere else as long as I’m in New Mexico!

I called and was able to bring my pickup in the next day. They gave me a ride back! Then, had it finished that day at a very reasonable price and picked me up. Genuinely nice staff and had good info on hiking trails in the area too. I highly recommend Spear.

Only got a diagnostic, but mechanic showed me exactly what issues were and how to proceed. Warranty is very competitive, so I'll be back for the repairs too complex for DIY.Super professional staff that works with you. Highly recommend.
