I stayed at the Super 8 in Bloomfield NM on January 11, 2024; was there for a workshop on January 12. My room was clean and comfortable, as was the hotel itself. The front desk person, Katrina, was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was basic, microwave oatmeal, cold cereal, coffee, and toast. The hotel is located in the center of town so there is easy access to most of the places I needed to go.Rooms: The room was clean and comfortable. It had a refrigerator and microwave, as well as a single-serve coffee pot. Although I was on the first floor in the main hall, it was pretty quiet.

I liked that you have only one entry point, and check in was friendly with a smile. The room bed and sheets were all clean and comfortable. Thank you Super 8

Good location but bad parking lot access. Staff were great. The place was very clean but smelled heavily of bleach most of the time. It's an older place so we expected some room issues might exist. One wall plug was coming out. Sink towel rack was coming loose. Light came in from around the door and the window curtains. No guide for tv channels, so had to surf to find things. Very limited breakfast options. Muffins and/or Danishes would have helped. We stayed 2 nights and would stay again if we pass thru the area.

Was sad they put us in a handicapped room. While it would be fantastic for a disabled person. It was definitely set up wrong for 2 able people. We had made reservations a month in advance.. so not sure why.

TL;DR. Food poisoning from the free breakfast and potentially questionable water kill the score here.~~~~~Let's call a spade a spade - It's a Super 8 in a small town. Five stars should be easy to get. If you give me a tidy room that's comfortable at night and has functional basics (lights, plumbing, etc.), and then don't get me sick with the free breakfast, you get the full 5.Friendly, hardworking staff? PassTidy room? PassComfortable at night? PassFunctional Basics? Partial credit (see Noteworthy Details)Don't get me sick? Fail. (see Food & Drink)Food & drinks: My family and I all tried the free breakfast the first morning. As others have noted, the selection is sparse - my family of 6 was straining resources. I was the only one to get orange juice from the juice machine; I was also the only one to puke and have severe diarrhea the next two days.FWIW, my family also complained about the taste of the water (I can't confirm - I was relegated to sprite while recovering from the OJ) and made sure to fill up water bottles at the gas station across the road where they said it tasted fine.Noteworthy details: This is all stuff I normally ignore, but is worth noting:- The bathroom light seemed like it was about 20 watts, making it really hard to see.- The shower wouldn't fully engage, so my calves got a pressure-wash with every shower.- Guest laundry was available, but didn't have laundry soap or a functional dryer.- A channel guide would have been nice to have, but the WiFi was good, so we were able to stream.

I have only a couple of complaints against this hotel. The first is that their ice machine was broken, and we were told that they are having trouble getting someone to fix it. As I have experienced at all the Super 8 hotels we stayed at on this trip (3), the room coffee was nothing more than colored water. At least the coffee in the lobby was much better. However, they served a very scanty breakfast. The toilet seat was loose and wiggled when sat upon and did not stay up when it needed to be in that position. Lighting was poor. The bed was comfortable and we slept well.

I was in town for business, I can’t say enough about these wonderful folks. They made my business trip feel as though every time I got back to the Hotel, I was family. Very clean as well.

My wife and I stayed here for a few days in late June. There were some issues as the star rating reflects. While moving our luggage into our room, I noticed that at least one haz-mat placarded semi-tanker was venting something from the tank while parked less than 100 feet from the hotel. As a retired firefighter, I investigated and found that this tanker contained liquid nitrogen which vents due to temperature fluctuations, and is normal. It was parked illegally (under the fire code in effect) in a truck parking lot not owned or affiliated with the hotel.I have contacted the Bloomfield Fire Dept. and New Mexico State Patrol about hazardous material loads being parked this close to a residential hotel which violates the fire code in effect.Aside from that danger which is not to be blamed on the hotel, there were several issues with maintenance items in our room which included: the bearing on the bath fan making noise, the aerator on the hand sink missing affecting pressure, and electrical outlets askew which can present a significant shock hazard. The "free breakfast" is an absolute joke. Super 8, please do yourself a favor and quit advertising this item as an amenity. The staff here are wonderful, work hard, and want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Unfortunately, the owner or corporate policy is getting in the way. WAKE UP!Safety: Semi trucks with placarded hazardous material loads are parking next door in violation of the fire code.
