“GREAT DOG WASH BAY & ON-SITE MANAGEMENT!

I've passed by this car wash facility many times traveling between northwest New Mexico and Durango and finally stopped in to use the dog wash I had noticed from their roadside sign. First impression was a spacious, clean, dedicated dog wash room where I felt safe and comfortable to spend some time giving my Aussie a bath on our way home. There is a non-slip coated ramp that enables you to easily walk your dog up to the bathing tub - great for those that can't easily lift their larger dogs. The bathing tub is large and can hold any size dog. A short leash is attached to the tub so you can safely secure your dog in place. There's also a large, clean metal table/shelving that I used to set a towel, dog leash, and personal items on to keep them from getting wet.

The automated dog wash equipment includes the washing hose with options for soap (standard, oatmeal, flea and tick soap), and a rinse setting. I used the standard soap which has a nice, light scent and was just the right amount of suds in my opinion - not excessive, not too dilute. The washing hose is a grip-controlled spray nozzle. The water pressure (moderate) and temperature (luke-warm) were perfect!

The automated dog wash also has a drying hose with two options for blowing pressure. I used the higher pressure and the temperature was warm but not excessively hot.

There's also a sterilizing wash setting that is optional and meant for the tub only (not your dog). It was already very clean when I arrived, so I just used this setting for the last minute of my time to wash down the inside of the tub for the next user - paying it forward. I was glad to see this setting was just a mild soap that came out and was not a harsh chemical.

The automated dog wash can be operated with cash or a credit card. I used the credit card and had some difficulty understanding how to adjust the setting and timing, so went to the office to ask. Dennis is the friendly on-site manager who quickly helped to fix the settings for me and get me going. He also seemed very fond of dogs (my Aussie liked him!) and took pride in the dog wash bay, making sure everything was meeting or exceeding our needs. I'll probably use cash next time because this just seems easier and there is a slightly lower cash minimum ($5) than credit minimum ($7) if you are planning on just a quick wash of a relatively clean dog. Nonetheless, the credit card option does work and gives you the option to use it even without cash.

Final note: I used the dog wash bay in the late afternoon when it was hot outside - in the mid 90's. There is no air cooler in the bay, but there are windows that were open and allowed air to circulate. We weren't bothered by the warm room because we both were quickly wet during the bathing process. But, if you are not tolerant of heat, you may want to arrive earlier on very hot days. I did notice that there is a heater in the room, which is important for comfortable use during winter months.

I WILL BE BACK to use the dog wash bay and plan to try out the car wash bays as well!”

“Super nice lady who works there (owner?) loaned me her soap bucket, brush, and even offered to wipe down my black car which I unwittingly drove on Indian Service roads in the rain gathering a ton of mud.”

“Good place to wash all those bugs off. I frequent this place with my work truck, and now winters here with all the ice and snow, and they keep their stuff spot on and unfrozen so you can remove that lovely bathroom glass feature so you can see”
