Oh, where to begin? First off, the staff is often grumpy and you have to pester them relentlessly to help you. Second, the whole, “stick your hands on this Scientology looking device and we’ll evaluate your general health” thing was a HUGE turnoff. I am extremely healthy (fit, balanced diet, regular intense exercise, daily vitamins, etc.) but their fancy sci-fi hand reading machine said I was in POOR health. LOL! Leave the general health stuff to the physicians and stick to optometry yeah? Third, Dr. Casaus asked what I do for work, I said hydrology. She then ranted about all the things they put in our water to keep us dumb, looking towards me for confirmation. Obviously she doesn’t know what a hydrologist is and obviously she doesn’t realize her pushing idiotic conspiracy theories on her clients makes her look deranged. Fourth, they tried to prescribe me insanely overpriced eye drops. No thanks, Visine works when I need it to. Fifth, they didn’t send me home with a prescription and they totally pushed me into buying glasses from them. No thanks. I tried to get my prescription twice and gave up because “the doctor was on vacation and if she doesn’t sign the prescription it’s invalid and no one will accept it.” WOW. I finally got them to hand over an “invalid” prescription. I took it to two different eye glasses stores since and neither even asked about the doctors signature, one store said it wasn’t even necessary! To sum it up, this place is a total scam and I can’t recommend it to anyone! I’ll never go back.

I have left a review before this one, but to add on to that review, my lenses were not correct. They re-did my exam, remade the lenses. They are still not right. They will not refund my money even though it has been just over a month since the initial payment. Two pair of lenses (no frames, I owned those already) came to $1,780. That's with the second pair discount, 20%.Buyer beware.

I had scheduled an appt for myself and my kids at the vision store in Bernalillo, at the time they asked if my information was all current. I said yes. When arriving at our appt the receptionist asked for my ID and insurance card. She then said they don't accept my insurance any longer. I told her that would of been nice to know when I made the appt. She didn't seem to care at all and asked if we wanted to reschedule. I said no. Why reschedule if they don't take my insurance. she was unfriendly and didn't seem to care about the patients. I wish I woulda got her name but didn't. So we will not be returning customers.

So unprofessional! staff all very friendly/timely in prepping the pt. for the doc.Deidra Casaus however is very unprofessional and unapologetic. She crams he appts and keeps you waiting for at least an hour and a half. It's about the money for her. Today I spoke up about this and she compared the waitingt to urgent care. It wasn't an urgent appt. We will never go back after about 3 yrs of dealing with her.

The worst customer experience ever. They will try to upsell you during the entire process - from the eye drops to the $400 up charge for the super xray vision lenses which they assume you want and fail to convey the value of the lenses. These lenses would have put the cost of glasses at over $1000 - yeah crazy. I went to get my $600 glasses fitted from an unprofessional tech with attitude. Don't waste your time and money - go to Costco, Sam's or other service for half the cost No need to respond with a canned response to this post. Like the other reviews, the worst customer experience. You have lost a customer.

As MANY reviewers have stated, spanning over half a decade, AVOID THIS EYE DR AT ALL COSTS!They will extract every penny out of you and your insurance that they can get away with. They have no shame in trying to rip people off at every stage of your eye care process. After they ripped me and my VSP off, I called over 20 opticians in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe area and Dr Casaus was over twice the price of ALL of them for a standard eye exam. I paid $133 AFTER they billed my VSP $130.This place is a shady grift with a fancy veneer. DON'T FALL FOR IT!

Yes, this doctor does a good and thorough eye exam and fitting. However, the billing practices of this business are predatory. I was quoted $130, out-the-door, for full eye exam, Optos, and contact fitting for an astigmatism.... WITHOUT insurance. I was charged $133 out-of-pocket, AFTER they billed my insurance! I paid more for my eye exam and fitting WITH insurance than I would have paid without any insurance, AND they charged my insurance for my 1 annual "FREE" eye exam. This place should be investigated for insurance fraud. I knew there was a reason they were being evasive and anything but transparent when I tried to review my invoice while in the store. After careful review of my itemized invoice, I now know why.... you will pay double the uninsured price if you have insurance. This place is a wolf in sheep's clothing rip-off. Unless you don't mind throwing money down the drain, avoid this place at all costs! Literally 100% of the opticians I called in Albuquerque were less expensive and more transparent about their billing practice than this Vision Store. Don't make the same mistake I did. *EDIT* In response to Dr Casaus' canned response, I stand by my review. Too many reviewers with exactly the same complaint about the billing practices of this Vison Store, spanning YEARS, to be anything other than their standard operating procedure. Nothing about this business is honest and transparent.

The staff is very aware of keeping us safe, with masks and hand washing. The staff and Dr. are experienced, thorough and caring. Dr. C was more attention to my vision needs than any eye Dr. i have ever been to. She has state of the art equipment to test our eyes. I can't believe I found her in little Bernalillo. Her attention to detail and use of nutrition is appreciated. I feel like my vision will be better for having met this Doctor. Grateful that I found her practice. The staff is friendly, efficient and attentive. I have severe dry eyes and the beginning of Macular Degeneration. I will never go to another eye Doctor.

just nowFederal Trade Commission ComplianceEyeglasses prescription ruleThe Rule requires prescribers to provide patients with a copy of their eyeglass prescription immediately after an eye exam, even if the patient does not request it. Under the Rule, prescribers cannot require that patients buy eyeglasses as a condition of providing them with a copy of their prescription. Why would I want my prescription? You have a CHOICE about where to buy your glasses or contacts. You don’t have to buy them from your prescriber. You might find a better deal, a better supply, or simply more convenience, at another prescriber’s officeAfter my exam I asked for a copy of my prescription, I paid for the exam and was handed some papers. I went to my car and looked at the papers and my prescription wasn't included only the receipt was given to me. I go back inside and I'm told it's going to have to be mailed to me or to come back another day because the doctor is busy with a patient and can't sign off on it. They should give me my prescription if I requested it or not. This is ridiculous and inconvenient to have to come back hopefully when the doctor isn't busy wait around for them to get her signature and print it. Dr Casaus was precise when examining and interpreting my eye tests, she wasn't in a hurry. Unfortunately she took all that time in my exam for me not to have any information about the exam or my prescription. No excuses please just fix it I don't want to hear any excuses, deny the mistake, give me attitude or make me wait any longer just fix it. I shouldn't have to ask for it it's the law that even if I didn't ask for it it's supposed to be provided to me at the end my exam no exceptions, no excuses follow the laws. Be accountable fix it.
